PGA Professional Championship Qualifiers
Port St. Lucie, Florida – The Iowa PGA has seven Iowa PGA Professional’s competing in the 2021 PGA Professional Championship on April 25-28, 2021 in Port St. Lucie, Florida at the PGA Golf Club. Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course, Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club, Tracy Vest of Blue Top Ridge, Ben Montgomery of Airport National Golf Complex, Darin Fisher of The Preserve on Rathbun Lake, Judd Gibb of Hanson’s Custom Golf.
Darin Fisher
Fisher’s first round he carded birdies on holes 1 and 7 including bogeys on holes 3, 4, 9 and 15 which placed him tied for 88th place. Fisher’s one-day total 37-37=74, +2 on the Wanamaker Course.
His second round he carded birdies on holes 2, 6 and 14; a bogey on hole 12 and a double bogey on hole 3 which placed him tied for 36th place going into the third round. Fisher’s two-day total 74-70=144, +1.
His third round he carded birdies on holes 6, 12, 14 and 16; bogeys on holes 5, 7, 9, 10, 13 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 3 which placed him tied for 54th place going into the final round. Fisher’s three-day total 74-7076=220, +5.
His final round he carded birdies on holes 7, 10, 13 and 16 including bogeys on holes 1 and 15 which placed him tied for 29th place. Fisher’s four-day total 74-70-76-70=290, +3.
McCarty’s first round he carded birdies on holes 11 and 13 including bogeys on holes 4, 6, 14 and 17 which placed him tied for 88th place. McCarty’s one-day total 38-35=73, +2 on the Ryder Course.
His second round he carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 13 and 15; an eagle on hole 7 and bogeys on holes 10 and 12 which placed him tied for 10th place. McCarty’s two-day total 73-68=141, -2.
His third round he carded birdies on holes 15 and 16 including bogeys on holes 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 14 which placed him tied for 40th place going into the final round. McCarty’s three-day total 73-68-77=218, +3.
His final round he carded birdies on holes 2 and 12; bogeys on holes 8, 10 and 14 including a double bogey on hole 3 which placed him tied for 48th place. McCarty’s four-day total 73-68-77-76=294, +7.

Schmid’s first round he carded birdies on holes 7, 8, 14 and 18 including bogeys on holes 1, 11, 12 and 15 which placed him tied for 34th place. Schmid’s one-day total 35-37-72, E on the Wanamaker Course.
His second round he carded birdies on holes 4 and 8; bogeys on holes 5, 12 and 17 with a double bogey on hole 9 which placed him tied for 72nd place going into the third round. Schmid’s two-day total 72-74=146, +3.
His third round he carded birdies on holes 1, 8 and 15; bogeys on holes 2, 3, 5, 10 and 14 which placed him tied for 54th place going into the final round. Schmid’s three-day total 72-74-74=220, +5.

His final round he carded birdie on hole 17; bogeys on holes 4, 5, 8, 14 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 7 which placed him tied for 65th place. Schmid’s four-day total 72-74-74-78=298, +11.
Tracy Vest

Vest’s first round he carded bogeys on holes 14, 15 and 16 including double bogeys on holes 2 and 6 which placed him tied for 238th place. Vest’s one-day total 40-39=79, +7 on the Wanamaker Course.

Judd Gibb
Gibb’s first round he carded birdies on holes 4, 5 and 13 including bogeys on holes 7, 9 and 11 which placed him tied for 59th place. Gibb’s one-day total 37-35=72, +1 on the Ryder Course.
His second round he carded birdies on holes 3, 5 and 6 with bogeys on holes 4, 9, 10, 12 and 15 which placed him tied for 72nd place going into the third round. Gibb’s twoday total 72-74=146, +3.
Judd Gibb, Chad Proehl, Ben Montgomery and Tracy Vest all competed but missed the final cut.
Chad Proehl

Proehl’s first round he carded a birdie on hole 16 including bogeys on holes 2, 6, 7, 8 and 17 which placed him tied for 153rd place. Proehl’s one-day total 40-36=76, +4 on the Wanamaker Course.

Ben Montgomery
Montgomery’s first round he carded birdies on holes 2 and 12; bogeys on holes 3, 4, 7, 9, 13, 15, 14, 17 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 11 which placed him tied for 278th place. Montgomery’s one-day total 39-42=81, +9 on the Wanamaker Course.

Parent Involvement
Similar to other youth recreational sports, PGA Junior League encourages and relies on parental involvement. In addition to making sure participants get to matches and practices, parents can play an important role in the success of their team: Team captain/assistant Coach Team-mother Match monitor/scorer Player recruitment Participant fees to play on a PGA Jr. League team are determined by each individual Team Captain and may vary from team-to-team.
