The City of Iola, founded in 1859, currently employs 104 full-time and 7 part-time employees. These employees operate gas, water, electric, wastewater and solid waste utilities and services of street maintenance, recreation, parks, police, fire and EMS. Sid Fleming is the new city administrator, with assistant Corey Shinstock. Non-emergent departments are open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 24 hour on-call service. Emergency departments are open 24/7. The elected city council members, pictured above with current Mayor Joel Wicoff, serve staggered four-year terms and are volunteer positions. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.
