Obituaries Harvey Collins Harvey Wayne Collins, 66, Iola, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, while doing what he loved, golfing with friends at Cedarbrook Golf Course. Cremation has taken place. Harvey was born Oct. 27, 1950, in Iola, to Harvey Albert and Lillie Mae (Sheat) Collins. He attended grade school and high school in Iola and graduated in 1968. He graduated from Allen County Community Junior College and was proud to be in the first graduating class at the new location. He later earned a degree in elementary education from Emporia State Teachers College. He student taught in Iola at McKinley Grade School and sold advertising at his parents’ business, Central Publishing Company, during the summers. He decided to stay with the family business and sold advertising along with various other jobs his whole adult life. Outside of work and golfing, Harvey was passionate about coaching kids in the region in basketball, softball, baseball and golf. He loved all those he coached and touched many lives. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by siblings Harry (Norma) Collins, Des Moines, Iowa; Dean (Sandy) Collins, Bella Vista, Ark.; Gary (Barb) Collins, Linda (Leo) Bass and Roger (Billie) Collins, all of Iola. Survivors also include his children Amber Collins, of Iola, Benjamin (Leah) Bockover of Derby, Cari Jo Bockover of Olathe and Rachel Bockover of Overland Park. He has six grandchildren, Ava, Camri, Aurora, Delaney, the twins Everett and Lincoln and another granddaughter due in February of 2017. Harvey leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the City of Gas Community Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Harvey can be made to the Allen County Community College Endowment to be used toward an Allen County athletic scholarship.

Need a pick-me-up? Patty Stuever of Wichita public schools will give a talk on the power of positive thinking at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Iola High School lecture hall. SAFE BASE, the local school district’s afterschool program, is sponsoring Stuever. “As we begin the week of Thanksgiving, it seems timely to reflect on thankfulness and learn new ways to enhance positivity in our every day lives,” said Angela Henry, SAFE BASE director. “Patty is engaging and uplifting and has a no-nonsense approach to positive thinking.”

Insurance agent certified Chelsey Cooper, an insurance agent with Iola Insurance Inc., has received a certified insurance service representative (CISR) designation. The designation came upon completing a series of one-day courses covering all areas of insurance risks and exposures, followed by extensive examinations. The CISR Program, available to insurance professionals in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, is distinguished from other programs of its kind by an annual continuing education requirement, which ensures that designees stay current on policy changes and trends. The CISR designation is awarded by the Society of CISR, a not-forprofit organization and member of The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, the nation’s premier provider of insurance and risk management education. Currently there are over 70,000 participants in the Society of CISR Program and more than 27,000 individuals holding the CISR designation.

Thad Hutton Thaddeus Nolan Hutton, 32, Iola, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by his family. Thad was born Oct. 11, 1984, in Iola, the son of Robert and Jacqueline (Patterson) Hutton. Thad was a loving, caring person. He enjoyed working with electron- Thad Hutton ics, working on stereo systems, working on cars, building things, but most of all, he loved his family. On Dec. 18, 2008, Thad married Ivy Nacole Jones. Ivy survives as well as their two children, Clash Charles Lee Hutton, 8, and London Lavon Hutton, 5, of the home; his father, Robert D. Hutton, Iola; his brothers, Zachary Hutton and Tyrell Hutton, both of Iola; his grandmas and his inlaws, Dennis and Rosa Jones, Iola, and their family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Hutton, and sister, Stephanie Hutton. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola for visitation before leaving for Highland Cemetery for graveside services at 11. Humboldt gets clinic HUMBOLDT — A ribbon-cutting celebrating the opening of a clinic in Humboldt is at 2 p.m. Monday at 111 S. Ninth St. The clinic is a division of Allen County Regional Hospital. The open house is from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The clinic will start taking patients on Nov. 28.
