Obituary Rev. Ronald Bumstead
Rev. Ronald Lorenzo Bumstead died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute. Born Dec. 17, 1927, to Oliver Wellington Bumstead and Margaret Smith in Detroit, Mich., he spent the first 32 years in Michigan prior to his move to Kansas. He was in the Army National Guard as part of a mortar crew. He attended Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti as a premed student. He worked nine years on a survey crew in Michigan. In 1954, he felt the calling. On July 2, 1955, he married Connie Jo McKinley in Pontiac, Mich. He continued his education at Sterling College in Sterling, and was ordained a United Methodist minister in 1962. He and Connie, who survives, served many churches in the Kansas East

Conference prior to his retirement in 1994. He continued serving churches in his retirement until 2004, when they returned to Humboldt. Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Ramona Cabbad, Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, Ronald Jr., and his wife, Marilyn, Humboldt; a daughter-in-law, Pam, Woodbridge, Va.; a son, Kevin, and his wife, Sue, Aurora, Colo.; a son, Jonathan, and his wife, Lynn, Overland Park; and a daughter, Beth Ann, Pittsburg; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kim. Cremation has occurred. Visitation will be Monday at 10 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Humboldt United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Humboldt United Methodist Church or church of your choice.

Brent Long, 37, Iola, was cited May 30 for allegedly stealing bagged landscape mulch from the Taco Bell property in the 1600 block of North State Street.
Drivers arrested
Ronald Goodman, 39, Iola, was arrested May 31 for driving while his driver’s license was suspended following a traffic stop. The evening of May 31, Linda Farrill, 26, Iola, was arrested for driving while her driver’s license was suspended. Brianna Lynn Wilson, 22, Gas, was arrested Tuesday for driving while her driver’s license was suspended.
Battery reported
A 29-year-old female told police officers Sunday that she was the victim of domestic battery. A suspect was identified and information was given to Allen County Attorney Wade Bowie. Another battery occurred Wednesday in the 100 block of South Fourth Street. A suspect has been identified.
Drug theft reported
David Cunningham, 61, Iola, told police officers Monday prescription drugs were stolen from his residence, 217 N. Washington Ave.

Brad Crusinbery, 43, Iola, reported Monday his bicycle was stolen from near Jefferson Elementary School.

Kimberly Rose Motley, 29, and Matthew William Cox, 28, both of Wellington, were arrested Wednesday for possession of m e t h a m p h e t a m i n e, distribution of methamphetamine, use of a communication device to facilitate the sale of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax state. The arrests occurred after a traffic stop in the 700 block of East Madison Avenue. Information about the arrests has been given to Allen County Attorney Wade Bowie.
