RENOWNED BASQUE PIANIST JOSU OKIÑENA RETURNS TO MIAMI

STEVEN G. IS HELPING SOUTH FLORIDA When Hurricane Irma was approaching we contacted our friends at Channel 10. We filled our 53’ trailer and two other trucks and headed to Key West. We then filled our trailer and headed to Immokalee to do it again. Giving back to those in need is a very important part of our day-today philosophy. We began collecting for Harvey and had half of the trailer filled. When Irma was too close, we held off on sending our trailer for safety reasons. It worked out that we were able to use the donations right in our own backyard. Steven G. has a huge heart, and his team is right there with him. We are huge supporters of Artists with Autism, ALFAIT, Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, Humane Society, Operation Lift Hope, and many more that are dear to our heart. We have met so many wonderful people, some strangers, now friends who have opened their hearts and wallets and helped us to support so many less fortunate.

Josu Okiñena has won numerous awards for his interpretation, performance, and extensive research of Spanish music. Okiñena is the Research Coordinator at Musikene, the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country, and has a doctorate from the University of Valladolid. After winning first prizes at the San Sebastián Conservatory for both piano and chamber music, he went on to study with the Spanish pianist and composer Félix Lavilla. He then continued his studies at The Juilliard School in New York and in London, where he took part in master classes by such esteemed musicians as Krystian Zimerman, Bruno Leonardo Gelber and Ivo Pogorelich. He also took regular classes with Maria Curcio, a pupil of the legendary pianist Artur Schnabel. Having assimilated all these influences and combined them, creating his own highly personal style, Okiñena is now admired in concert halls all over the world. www.josuokinena.com/en/
