TO RIDE: Download the app, available at app.socialbicycles.com. Reserve a bike through the app. Locate your bike and enter the 4-digit code to unlock it.

Travel from campus to the Square quickly and easily with the University of Mississippi’s bike-share program, started last fall. Bike hubs are stationed around campus, with an additional hub on the Square next to City Hall. Members of the community get one free hour of ride time a day, and UM students get two. If you need to stop along the way, you can pause your time by pressing the “hold” button and locking the bike to a rack. When you’re ready to hop back on, enter your 4-digit code and you’re ready to ride. Drop your bike off at any hub when you finish your ride, and always remember to obey all traffic laws, wear a helmet, and signal when turning. For more information and a map of hubs and available bikes, visit gotchabike.com/ole-miss.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, also known as The Divine Nine, governs nine historically AfricanAmerican, international Greek-letter fraternities and sororities founded upon varying principles rooted in the core tenets of brotherhood, sisterhood, scholarship and community service. Traditionally, these organizations have held social events such as conferences and gatherings for members and have now popularized step-dancing competitions and shows. Stepping is a form of percussive dance that uses footsteps, handclaps, voice and other sounds to create complex rhythms. Step dancing has its roots in military drills and traditional dance, but routines may also incorporate tap, break dancing and gymnastics. The performances are a fun way for members to share pride in their heritage while showcasing a unique cultural legacy. To learn more, stop by the Office of Fraternal Leadership and Learning in Minor Hall, or call 662-915-7609. The NPHC Annual Homecoming Step Show will be held on Oct. 5; tickets are available at the Ole Miss Box Office, 662-915-7411.
