course is the result of a 2015 Concepción Municipality project contained within the framework of Corfo’s regional competition “Support Program for the Entrepreneurial Environment and Innovation” (Paei, Spanish acronym). The Universidad de Concepción participates in this program through Emprendo Program. “All of the specialists, including the World Entrepreneurship Forum, recommend receiving an education in the competencies needed to pursue ventures and innovate from an early age, thereby fostering real cultural change in future generations. This strategy will allow entrepreneurship to permeate all activities and offers each sector of the population a chance to achieve their dreams without discrimination.” – Dr. Pedro Vera, Emprendo Director. To create a ripple effect, participants in the course include an instructor from each of the establishments that hope to replicate the newly learned pedagogical methodologies in their own schools. This ensures sustained entrepreneurial education within each institution. “When opportunities are created, the students show that the Chilean youth is potent, that they have the desire to implement significant projects. UdeC is proud to be able to contribute to this.” – Dr. Pedro Vera, Emprendo Director. Participants in the first instance of the course included the Niñas, Experimental, España, Marina de Chile, República de Brasil, and Domingo Santa Maria Schools; while the second instance of this course counted on the participation of students and instructors from the Juan Gregorio

Las Heras, Leopoldo Lucero, República de Ecuador, Rebeca Matte Bello, and Enrique Molina Garmendia Schools. The winning project from the first instance of the course was the “Hallways for Creating Entrepreneurs,” designed by five students from the España School. This project included constructing a unique space with recycled materials and didactic elements supportive of autonomous learning, taking care of the environment, and entrepreneurship within the school. “Together with my classmates, we proposed looking for a need or absence in our school that we could transform with our project. We realized that our hallways were very wide and boring; they even looked like hospitals. So we wanted to transform them and give them some use.” – Romina Daza, student at the España School and member of the winning team at the first instance of the course.
