GETTING TO NORTHWESTERN FROM THE AIRPORT Chicago O'Hare International Airport is approximately an hour from Northwestern's Evanston campus: Go Airport Express Shuttle Airport Express Shuttle provides shared rides from the airport to campus. Reserve your spot online AT LEAST 24 hours before your flight. Cost is about $50. Taxi/Cab/Uber/Lyft There are Taxi lines outside of the baggage claim area with airport staff directing the lines and cab pick-up. Do not accept rides from anyone soliciting inside the airport. Cost is typically $45-$60 with tip. Recently, ride sharing services accessible with a smartphone app have been allowed to pick up at Chicago airports. These are typically cheaper ($30-$38 for UberX from O’Hare to Evanston, for example). There are Rideshare pick up signs at the airport, but you will want to confirm with your driver where you can expect to meet them when you book. Public transportation—Pace and CTA Not recommended if you have a lot of luggage: Pace, the suburban public transit system, or the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) trains through the city into Evanston are available. Pace is $1.75, and the CTA is $2.25 from Midway or $5 from O’Hare. For Pace, take the airport shuttle (free) to long-term parking/Pace. From there, take Pace bus route 250 from O'Hare to the Davis Street CTA station in downtown Evanston. For CTA, take the airport shuttle to terminals 1, 2 or 3 and follow the signs “Trains to City (CTA).” This route will require transfers to reach the Purple Line to Evanston.

If you would prefer to rent a car during ISO, there will be a number of options available from the airport. Expect tolls if traveling from O’Hare. For tips on renting and driving in the U.S. try these helpful links: CAR RENTAL TIPS TRAVELING BY CAR IN THE U.S.

Evanston

The CTA is $2.25 per ride ($5 from O’Hare) To get to Evanston from O’Hare, take the blue line toward the loop, transfer to the Red Line at Jackson, and to the Purple Line at Howard. Get off at Davis for Allison Hall, Foster for the FosterWalker Complex, and Noyes for Kemper Hall.
