L’a rte è un’occupazione tanto sensuale, quanto intellettuale. In questo senso l’a rte è sempre contemporanea. Il design, in quanto forma dell’espressività artistica è sempre contemporaneo. È così che nascono nuove idee, che non sono altro che estensioni di idee sempre presenti a se stesse, che “abitano” le menti creative da secoli. Per secoli. È così che la crasi tra passato e presente genera nuovi prodotti destinati a resistere all’usura del tempo, delle mode, dei “trends”, dei guru del design… il cui comune destino è quello di scorrere via velocemente come acqua saponosa sul marmo. Mantellassi , una sorta di novello Vermeer, congela il tempo alla frazione di un secondo e restituisce un mondo interamente modellato dalla luce della creatività. Dalle soffitte polverose della Mantellassi 1926 riprende vita un vecchio divano, una poltrona consunta. Come l’incipit di una fiaba. E d’incanto… inizia un bel racconto, una grande storia: “C’e ra una volta una manifattura sorta nella campagna toscana dove ricchi signori si recavano per arredare le loro case, le loro botteghe o alberghi. I loro prodotti erano così ben confezionati che presto la voce si disperse nei quattro angoli del pianeta. Così ricchi signori, che provenivano da ogni dove, si contendevano quelle poltrone e quei divani frutto della maestria di sapienti artigiani. I prodotti di quella manifattura toscana cominciarono a girare per città e Paesi e con essi il buon nome della famiglia Mantellassi che la creò. Da Firenze, culla del rinascimento, a Roma, la città eterna; da Parigi a Londra fino ai posti più esotici e affascinanti, ovunque Mantellassi ha lasciato un segno del suo ingegno e creatività.

The portmanteau between past and present generates new products timeless, able to last to the passing time, to the fashion, trends and design guru, which destiny is to slip quickly on a soapy marble top... Mantellassi as a novel Vermeer, freezes the time and gives us back the world completely molded by the Creativity. From the dusty attics of the Mantellassi founders, a sofa and a armchair are back to life. As the incipit of a novel. And enchanted a beautiful story begin. “Once upon a time there were a small manufacturing established in the outskirt of Florence, which was welcoming the wealthy people looking for the best furniture in Tuscany, either for villas, hotels and yachts. Their products were so perfectly done and they use to last a lot more than the competitors, so that the bourgeois was queuing up to buy armchairs, sofas and accessories made from those skilled craftsmen. At that time there were no way to broadcast the name except the mouth to mouth system. MANTELLASSI was a synonymous of elegance, perfect manufacturing and design. This excellence was important to increase the client number up to now. From Florence to Rome, from Paris to London, Moscow, Dubai, Hong Kong, New York, Miami, Los Angeles and every single corner in the planet has a deep mark of MANTELLASSI, made by his creativity and commitment.

Un catalogo ha caratteristiche simili ad un film: riunisce il “fare” in una sequenza cronologica di immagini. Fotografie statiche che scorse rapidamente assumono, quasi per incanto, la forma di una pellicola che srotola l’immediato passato e l’immediato presente. Il materiale preparatorio di questo “film” non viene conservato o mostrato come un cartone di Raffaello, ma è parte integrante (e non visibile immediatamente) del catalogo-film. Così come il cinema impiega un esercito tanto vasto di disegnatori, sarti, truccatori… Un “piccolo esercito” di professionisti, architetti, fotografi, grafici, ingegneri, scrittori hanno concorso alla sua realizzazione. Il brand, il prodotto, non sono gli unici incontrastati protagonisti in questa “sceneggiatura”, anche i sogni svolgono un ruolo altrettanto importante ed il viaggio ucronico ed uconico (ad di là del tempo e dello spazio) qui rappresentato ne è in fondo la sua sublimazione. Roma, Firenze e Parigi sono le nostre tappe principali, ideali - potremmo dire - in quanto testimoniano a livello universale l’importanza della cultura e dell’a rte dall’a ntichità ad oggi. Come insegna il pittore Elstir al narratore della Recherche, quando si guarda qualcosa, ciò che conta, più ancora dell’oggetto guardato, è lo sguardo. È nella qualità dello sguardo, nel pregiudizio che contiene, che l’oggetto osservato si deforma per aderire alla personalità di chi lo osserva. Nel personaggio proustiano di Elstir possiamo rivedere la personale prospettiva con la quale ogni viaggiatore tende a rappresentarsi la realtà. È questo un pensiero eterno che attraversa la storia del pensiero umano. Vladimir Nabokov ne parlava così “quando ci concentriamo su un oggetto materiale, ovunque si trovi, il solo atto di prestare ad esso la nostra attenzione può farci sprofondare involontariamente nella sua storia”.

As the painter Elstir is saying to the writer of the “La Recherce”, when you are watching something, the most important issue is the sight, more than the product itself. Is in the quality of the sight, in the enclosed prejudice, that we can see the distortion of the watched object to join the personality of the observer. In the Proustian figure of Elstir we can see the personal prospective which every traveler tent to represent the reality. This is an endless opinion which go through the history of the human being. Vladimir Nabokov said that “when we focus on a physical object, everywhere it is, the only action to give a quick look could let us collapse involuntarily in its history”.

Descrivere lo scontrarsi dei sogni, delle chimere, delle fantasie con il muro delle cose reali, o della loro vanità, è un motivo tipicamente romantico. All’inizio del terzo millennio, lo si può intendere anche in modo diverso: come la possibilità di evocare una realtà parallela a quella immediata, che tuttavia, per le emozioni che suscita in noi, risulti altrettanto concreta. Non si tratta più soltanto di ricordi o di sogni, bensì della realtà virtuale destinata ad invadere le nostre vite. La sua fonte primaria è l’immaginazione. No, non si tratta della realtà virtuale che cerchiamo dentro i bit di una memoria al silicio, ma di ciò che possiamo trovare dentro di noi. Le differenze tra questa realtà e quella che siamo abituati a considerare concreta, e di cui è fatta la storia degli uomini, non sono poi così evidenti, tutto sommato. Ogni fantasia è immaginaria, ma anche la storia che leggiamo sui libri è per lo più immaginaria.
Paris The images of the dreams, the chimera, fantasies, that are crashing against the wall of the REAL things, or against their vanity, is very romantic to describe. At the early beginning of the third millennium, we can intend also in a different manner: as the possibility to evoke a parallel reality to the one shown, but with a similar feeling for the emotions that we feel. There is no only dreams and memories, but also a virtual reality that is able to invade our life. The only source is the imagination, and has never to share with the bit we can found in a computer, but is our interior, the center of our gravity. Differences are not that big. Mantellassi Anthology Tradizione artigianale e design si uniscono generando una nuova serie di divani e poltrone dove ogni dettaglio è curato con grande attenzione: dalla selezione dei tessuti, al loro ideale abbinamento, dalla qualità del molleggio alla costruzione del bracciolo al trattamento dei fusti. Ogni particolare concorre a determinare un prodotto di eccellenza. Per quanto riguarda i molleggi, Mantellassi si avvale della società Wade Springs, una delle aziende che per prime hanno realizzato il nuovo brevetto per il molleggio delle sedute su barre di acciaio con top a maglia di rete. Tutti i modelli realizzati da Mantellassi 1926 vengono prodotti utilizzando molle Fishmouth o NO-SAG in acciaio temperato. La Fishmouth Seating offre un’unità superiore di molle assemblate con una serie di cavi in modo da formare un bordo a molle estremamente confortevole e resistente nel tempo. Le molle NOSAG vengono anche utilizzate per la costruzione delle spalliere; mentre le molle per le sedute sono di tipo elicoidale. Per quanto riguarda i braccioli i materiali usati sono: cinghie elastiche, tela juta, feltro, poliuretano espanso ad alta intensità e fibra di poliestere. Tutti i tessuti o pelli sono tagliati a mano e abbinati sia su progetto e disegno specifici Mantellassi, sia su precisa richiesta della committenza, per un prodotto completamente personalizzabile. I fusti sono realizzati in massello di legno pregiato, incollati, avvitati e con doppia o tripla maschiatura a seconda del modello. Le patinature delle zampe sono rifinite come da campionatura.

The main issues are: selection of fabrics, properly matched, quality of suspension with mash top sprung units or fishmouth system, thick hard wood frames, glued, screwed and beveled, high density foam and pure feather cushions. All the ingredients are necessary to create THE BEST SOFA IN THE WORLD. Analyzing the factors, we can declare that we are honored to use Wade Spring as main supplier of suspension, the inventor of the sprung unit and the number one in the world. They have many patented design for this category and we are one of the few Italian companies that are importing this item. For the frames, we use only the dry thick beech wood, treated and assembled with great expertise. They are so strong that we may give you a life time warranty. Cutting is a wonderful moment. Every single piece is done by hand with single pattern, because our client is very demanding and they are often asking for a customize product, with dozen of details. Strips, pattern, leather are handled with the best care for the top result. Sewing is done with competency, sometimes by hand sometimes with the most technological sewing machines. Patina Lavorazioni effetto vintage Si tratta di creazioni particolari , prodotte , pezzo per pezzo, da artigiani qualificati che, con pazienza e passione, decorano i fusti in legno a vista con cere speciali, per passare poi alla pelle, utilizzata quella in “crust“, (pelle che non ha subito la rifinizione finale) che viene tamponata manualmente. La scrupolosa artigianalità manuale applicata fa si che ogni pezzo creato possieda , dunque, la propria unicità e numerazione. Nessuno dei prezzi creati sarà uguale all’a ltro. Visibilmente, appaiono come ripescati in un vissuto passato, che si trasformano e si fondono e si plasmano all’identità di coloro che si concedono il piacere di sceglierle. Il risultato finale si presenta come una rilettura contemporanea della tradizione, cioè del trascorso, reinterpretata attraverso una costante ricerca e sperimentazione, destinata però a continuare a vivere nel tempo. Nel suo lavoro, Mantellassi ha sempre cercato ed approfondito elementi utili , utilizzati al raggiungimento di una consapevolezza culturale ed operativa trasferibile nelle creazioni prodotte, per scoprire le ragioni per cui, nell’osservare un oggetto “vissuto “ ( con il velo patinato che il fluire delle stagioni stende sugli oggetti) si provi emozione, rilevando che : - ogni emozione deriva da un messaggio - ogni messaggio è trasmesso da uno stile - ogni stile è la concretizzazione di un ideale - ogni ideale appartiene ad un lasso di tempo e che il “ tutto” è la storia che ci racconta.

In Toscana esiste una tradizione millenaria per la lavorazione della pelle. Ci sono distretti conciari specializzati, dove l’a rte del cuoio si tramanda di generazione in generazione, con uso di tannini vegetali. Mantellassi 1926 dialoga ininterrottamente con le migliori concerie, condividendo i messaggi del mercato. Una particolare procedura, unica nel suo genere, è la lavorazione “patina”, con la quale si riesce ad anticare una pelle grezza semiterminata, direttamente sul prodotto finito, con uso di aniline, cere ed altri componenti naturali, fino a diventare un prodotto di storia “vissuta“.

Il significato di ogni bella creazione sta almeno altrettanto nell’a nima di chi la contempla, quanto nell’a nima di chi la crea.

...è lo spettatore che presta alla creazione i suoi vari significati e la rende meravigliosa... (O.Wilde) Come la bellezza che racchiude in se tanti significati quanto quelli dell’ uomo. Essa è il simbolo dei simboli : rivela tutto perché non esprime nulla. L’ immaginazione, in più, tutto può, tutto crea, tutto rende possibile proprio come nella favola del Re Nudo. ...l’arte ha bisogno di solitudine, o di miseria o di passione. è un fiore di roccia che richiede il vento aspro e il terreno rude... (Dumas Padre) Ecco dunque nascere Re Nudo, con i suoi Effetti Cemento : sorprendente risultato di una lunga ricerca effettuata nell’a mbito delle finiture lignee. “Esmeralda” è un progetto Mantellassi nato da un brief con un noto architetto per l’a rredamento di una discoteca in Sardegna, in costa Smeralda, frequentata da giovani Vip di tutto il mondo. I colori intensi del mare e della costa sarda caratterizzano questa nuova iniziativa progettuale, destinata a tutti coloro che desiderano avere una linea di prodotti ricchi di vita e, ovviamente, completamente personalizzabili. Grande attenzione è stata posta nel selezionare i modelli, individuati sia all’interno che all’esterno del nostro catalogo. Dalla Toscana alla Sardegna, due grandi regioni simbolo di un’Italia multiforme ed imprevedibile dove il binomio cultura-natura la fa da padrone ed imprime il suo brand nella mente dei suoi abitanti, una sorta di seconda pelle, che tutte riveste e distingue. Il chiaroscuro della tradizione pittorica fiorentina, lascia il testimone all’irruenza cromatica della macchia ed i colori primari ne sono al tempo stesso matrice creativa e fonte di ispirazione costante. Il disegno e la macchia, da Michelangiolo al Tiziano, il segno come confine e l’a strattismo dinamico del colore generano nuove potenzialità, nuove attrazioni a cui risulta difficile sottrarsi. Una volta entrati nel gioco delle forme e dei colori non potremmo più farne a meno, come il ferro che non può sottrarsi al magnete. Non resta che cedervi e… lasciarsi andare al piacere che provoca! Lasciati coinvolgere dall’e ntusiasmo che caratterizza questi arredi e dona un tocco di imprevedibilità ai tuoi spazi con una linea giovane e dinamica. Esmeralda non è che un esempio dello stile Mantellassi: massima attenzione alle esigenze del cliente. Dalla fase del progetto alla consegna degli arredi realizzati, nel rispetto del budget stabilito!
Per ottenere questo risultato abbiamo lavorato su diversi temi, inventando una patinatura fatta di 7 strati di vernice colorata, la quale, per effetto dell’a sportazione, riporta alla luce i colori che si sono nascosti sotto la superficie. Il sole accecante, il mare cristallino, l’habitat selvaggio della Sardegna sono il leit-motif di una linea di prodotti destinata a stupire: tutto è curato attentamente, dalla struttura all’imbottitura al tessuto, con stoffe di puro lino, coloratissime, le migliori per confrontarsi con i forti colori mediterranei dell’isola. Laccature fluo ed intagli estremamente curati “confezionano” un prodotto assolutamente originale. La forte liaison tra natura e prodotto, tra creazione – nel senso di natura – e creatività, implica una costante ricerca tra perfezione della forma e suggestività, per un nuovo modo di intendere l’a rredamento. I colori dell’e motività esplodono in tutto il loro prorompente coinvolgimento. E proprio emozione e razionalità progettuale sono le keywords giuste per interpretare un concept che è già tendenza.
