2022 ERCHA/NRCHA Derby
The first major of the European Reined Cow Horse season brought together Europe’s best 4- and 5-year-old reined cow horses. Once again Giovanni Campanaro rode to the winner’s circle in the Open division and non professional Nicola Succo carried on his winning streak by claiming the Non Pro Championship.

ERCHA/NRCHA DP Saddlery Derby Open
Twenty-one open riders piloted 4-and 5-year-old horses entered in the European Reined Cow Horse Association Derby Open sponsored by DP Saddlery. At the conclusion of the three rounds, the combination that closed with the highest composite score of 295 was Shesa Genuinelypepto (Oaks Lone Pepto x Haida Oleana) ridden by Giovanni Campanaro for owner Loris Paone. “This mare always tries to give her best in the arena and I will look forward to showing her in the Hackamore,” said Campanaro about the 5year-old mare.
Three riders tied for the Reserve Championship with a composite score of 292.5. Campanaro had two under the saddle: the first Henry Royal Rey
(Roany Rey x Mariah Pep), owned by Lorenzo Colombo, and Trix Aristocrat MR (Tassas Aristocrat x GH Dual Snappin) for owner and breeder Matese Ranch. He was joined by Sara Casalini riding Gunner On Line (Shine On Line x Shyawhiz), owned by Andrea Sanfelici and bred by Piergiuseppe Guidetti.
Casalini and her mount also earned the Level 1 Derby Open Championship. “I truly didn’t really expect this result because it was a difficult final for us,” said the 20-year-old rider. “I’m really happy and I really look forward to showing him again.”
Federico Fanti and Stick Snapper Quick (Quick Kid Roan x Jasmine Bob Acre), owned by Andrea Filzi, closed with a 291 composite and the Level 1 Open Reserve Championship.

Non Pro and Level 1 Non Pro
Nicola Succo and A Nite With Marilyn (Gunners Special Nite x LDL Marilyn Chex), bred and owned by Alessia Campi, swept the Non Pro and Level 1 Derby titles. “This win is very special for me since we bred her and it was a long haul to train with Giovanni
Campanaro,” he said. “She’s been a great horse for me and taught me a lot. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jacopo Ranch.”
Gabriele Poli Barberis and LF Double Climber (Double R Chant x LikeAFallingFeather) clinched the Non Pro Derby Reserve Championship with a 276.5 composite score. In the Level 1 Non Pro division, Giulia Costelli

ERCHA/NRCHA Okami Ranch Derby Non Pro Boxing
Open to 4-, 5- and 6-year-old horses, Giulia Zamperini was draw three in the six-horse Okami Ranch Derby Non Pro Boxing cow work final. She lit up the arena with a thrilling performance, then waited to see if her 74 on the cow would keep her atop the class. When the final whistle blew, Giulia and Easy Smart Boom (Smart Easy Deal x Blue Boons Lil Sue), owned by Alessandra Bologna and bred by Società Agricola Le Fattorie di Matilde, marked a 283 composite to earn the title. This was the second special event for the pair. “I didn’t expect this result; my horse was amazing today and I really want to thank him along with all the people who helped us win our first special event title,” said the 17-year-old Italian rider.




Swiss Pauline Brogli from Switzerland and her 5year-old gelding, VH Captain Badger (Diamond Cat Fifty x Starlight Toga), closed with a 279 composite and second spot.
