TFC for sale after Mammoth production move

TFC for sale in Mammoth production shake-up

Mattress manufacturer The Foam Company has put itself up for sale following the loss of its licence to produce Mammoth branded products.

Airsprung Beds is to take over the manufacturing of Mammoth’s beds for bricks and mortar retailers – it already makes for the online channel. Both companies say they want to reduce lead times ‘significantly’, while Litmus Furniture will assume responsibility for selling.

While Mammoth was a large proportion of TFC’s business, it also owns the Sleepshaper and Sonlevo brands and manufactures various white label and private label products.

‘As a business, we are already well aware of Airsprung’s manufacturing capabilities, commitment to quality, speed of delivery and exemplary customer service standards. It’s important to us that we move forward with a partner that

Production has switched from TFC to Airsprung shares our own commitment to excellence, attention to detail and rigorous approach to testing and development,’ says Stuart Nutbeen, Mammoth md.

‘Airsprung is proud to have the opportunity to work with Mammoth across its retail channel. We strongly believe we can bring real value to Mammoth’s growing network of retailers by focusing on increased efficiency and reduced lead times. We know that speed of delivery and convenience is a huge driver for the modern consumer,’ says Paul Little, Airsprung Beds deputy md.

‘The agreement will see Mammoth retain the services of all existing staff and maintain the high level of sales support as it looks to deliver on an ambitious growth strategy,’ says a Mammoth spokeswoman. ‘Following the termination of the Mammoth agreement, we have worked closely with our advisers and reached the conclusion that it is in the best interests of all concerned to seek a sale of the business,’ says a TFC statement.

‘The marketing process has commenced, there are a number of seriously interested parties and we anticipate concluding a “pre packaged” administration sale that will not result in a cessation of trade. It is likely the business will enter into administration at some stage as part of that process, and we have registered that intention with the courts.

‘Given that we are not permitted to supply Mammoth mattresses, we have had to make the difficult decision to cease production of all products with immediate effect. However, we do hope for a bright future for all those associated with the business if we are able to secure a sale, and we are focusing all our attentions on achieving that.’

Retail tie-ups for bed brands Autumn to become Spring

JYSK has become the latest UK retailer to begin stocking Emma mattresses as the bed brand’s efforts to widen its physical retail footprint continue.

JYSK began selling Emma at its German stores in October 2021, then rolled this out to the UK, Republic of Ireland, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

‘Emma is a brand highly recognised by UK consumers so combining this with our position as the Danish sleep experts we hope to help more customers achieve the good night’s sleep they deserve and provide even more in-store mattress options,’ says Jenny Johnston, JYSK UK & Ireland sales and marketing manager.

Meanwhile, DFS is to begin selling eve Sleep’s mattresses and bed frames online from 3 March before introducing them in-store. Plans are in place to extend the ranges at a later date.

‘Our range of bedroom furniture, including our wide choice of upholstered bedframes, is a key and growing part of our offer. We are delighted to be partnering with eve to add its best-in-class mattresses to our range, to support awareness of our bedroom furniture products; deliver even greater choice for our customers; and provide the opportunity for customers to conveniently add an eve mattress to their DFS furniture order,’ says John Rastall, head of DFS home. May will see the debut of the Spring Furniture & Bed Show.

The organiser of the Autumn Furniture Show, held at NAEC, Stoneleigh Park, has announced plans for a 17-18 May event at the same venue.

More than 60 exhibitors are already confirmed across upholstery, cabinet, beds, accessories, rugs, pictures, mirrors and lighting alongside a range of complimentary service providers.
