Centro InterculturaCidade (Lisbon Intercultural Centre) is located in Poço dos Negros (central Lisbon), a reference neighbourhood of the Cape-Verdean migrant community in Portugal. It opened its doors in May 2004 in the framework of a project funded by the EU through the Equal Initiative . In 2010 it was established as an independent association created jointly by one of the initial partners and members of different migrant communities living and working in that neighbourhood.

2021 / 2022 ACI - InterCulturaCidade Centre is currently being reorganised and moving premises following the cancellation of practically all its face-toface activities which it has been forced to do since mid-March 2020 due to constraints arising from the Covid 19 epidemic. All Activities already running at the moment and in preparation for the coming months are to be implemented gradually and in accordance with guidelines from the Directorate General of Health and other competent entities. Highlights include the return of the CAPE VERDIAN CREOLE COURSES - LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, of which the Centrre is pioneer n Lisbon ( 16 courses held between 2010 and 2019). Besides that, three new initiatives are planned for 2022: the PALCOS Project (Support for migrant street musicians in central neighbouroods of Lisbon), the I LOCAL FORUM OF CULTURE AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT - in partnership with the Misericórdia Parish Council (Lisbon) and the launching of the IBEROAMERICAN CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT CIRCUIT (a partnership with local cultural associations in various iberoamerican countries).
CENTRO INTERCULTURACIDADE Until the end of 2022, we´ll be also part of two project partnerships:
DIARIES OF MIGRANTS (coordinated by the Arquivos dos Diários Association) and NUTRIMOVERE (coordinated by the Biosite cooperative) supported respectively by the Lisbon CLLD Network and the Healthy Neighbourhoods Programme. For the same year, new stages of our projects OFICINAS DO MUNDO and CIRCUITO CULTURAL LUSÓFONO – Intercultural Art Partnerships for Change are also planned.
