We are very delighted to launch our 15th edition of SME Malaysia 2016/2017 directory which represents our objective to feature the SMEs in Malaysia and also to disseminate useful information to them. The Directory serves as a quick guide for businesses that are interested to source for products and services from our local SMEs. Last year on 25th June, we had signed a memorandum of understanding between Digi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd and SAMENTA to empower the SMEs with new technologies to utilize digital solutions to upgrade their businesses.
National President of Small and Medium Enterprises Association (SAMENTA) Malaysia Mr. Koay Chiew Guan
With the AEC in place and the ratification of the TPPA, SMEs are encouraged to move out the comfort zone and explore new markets to export their products or seek new partnership for technical cooperation.
This year, we launched a series of 10 business talks to provide information through the sharing of experiences by successful entrepreneurs. We covered topics such as Equity Crowdfunding, Monetising and Protecting Your IP, Branding for SMEs and Social Entrepreneurship. The range of speakers came from young IT entrepreneurs as well as seasoned ones from the services sector. As a conscious effort to expose entrepreneurship to the youths, the series of talks were organized in a collaboration with Sentral College, Penang. We wish to thank DIGI and PKF for sponsorship of the Entrepreneurship SME TALK series. Many small-scale enterprises have lamented that they need relevant advice and support in managing their businesses. SAMENTA intends to collaborate with PKF to provide free business advisory clinic (half hour sessions) for SMEs to seek consultations on their business issues. SMEs should apply for various incentives provided by our government to invest in automation and technology to increase their operational efficiency and reduce manpower. These process improvements will enable the SMEs to become more productive and leaner to face the tougher economic environment ahead. With the AEC in place and the ratification of the TPPA, SMEs are encouraged to move out the comfort zone and explore new markets to export their products or seek new partnership for technical cooperation. SAMENTA was one of the first association representing SMEs to openly endorse and support the TPPA. The increasing dominance and penetration of digital applications such as the web and mobile apps should introduce new ways of doing business for SMEs. We hope that our SMEs would embrace ICT to expand their businesses both locally and abroad by deploying the e-commerce platform. Thank you.
