Welcome! We’ve created this joyful season with you in mind — filled with gorgeous masterpieces, larger-than-life composers, and just plain fun! You’ll travel across time and continents with the incredibly talented Cape Symphony musicians and a line-up of wonderful guest stars. Together we’ll tour Australia and New Zealand with our Passport program; drop in on the Roaring ‘20s and the Romantic era; and revisit the musical moments that helped shape our love of art, beauty, and JOY! Plus, the songs of the “Natural Woman” herself, Aretha Franklin, will come to our Cape Symphony stage for the first time! We look forward to greeting you at these spectacular musical events, including the Cape’s most popular traditions: Holiday on the Cape and the New Year’s Day Party! With deep appreciation for your ongoing support and loyalty,

Jung-Ho Pak Artistic Director & Conductor

Michael Albaugh Executive Director

THE ROARING ‘20s Let the Cape Symphony transport you back in time 100 years to the wild and crazy Jazz Age. Throughout the journey, you’ll revisit the magic of Charlie Chaplin, the grand pageantry of Hollywood, and moments from the silent screen that flushed the cheeks of Gatsby himself. RESPECT:

A Tribute to Aretha Franklin She lived the life of a legend, but that soulful voice was only part of her story. Join the Cape Symphony and special guest artists for an inspiring musical biography featuring such show-stoppers as “Natural Woman” and “Chain of Fools”... a powerful celebration of the icon, the musician, the Queen: Aretha. EXOTIC TALES Our grand finale of the 20222023 Masterpiece season allows the music do what it does best...tell the story (or 1001 stories, to be exact) of Scheherazade with a lush score by Rimsky-Korsakov. In partnership with public radio’s The Moth Radio Hour, we will also create a new Scheherazade experience with a modern story and score. This intoxicating program features works that evoke the richness of Middle-Eastern culture and the women who understood the value of intellect, the power of grace, and the art of storytelling.
