Picture turquoise beaches, pristine mountain scapes, or tropical jungles.Transport yourself into another world. Culture and local cuisine is at your fingertips. Certain customs or traditional ceremonies will feel even more authentic. Destination weddings can be tailored to fit your every desire. BY REBECCA GUTKNECHT

Tablescapes Captivating
8
BY JULIE MADDOCK
It’s going to be a dazzling decade!
And your one-of-a-kind love story deserves its own unforgettable moment at your wedding reception. What’s trending in 2020 tablescapes? The “Wow” factor. A mixture of bold, modern, and simplistic style. Whether a sweetheart table just for the couple, head table for the entire wedding party, or the guest tables—it’s all about telling a story, creating a mood, letting your personal taste shine through.
Breaking All the Rules
The only rule you need to abide by is to be true to your personal style. Integrate your forward-thinking approach to life by mixing dark colors and a bold pattern. Add an overhead installment of white lights or hang string lights vertically behind the head table for added drama. Adding delicate flowers in clear glass vases provides a visually softening effect.
9
Simplistically Bold
Couples are choosing to infuse their own creative touch and whimsy to every aspect of their wedding. And creating a truly unique and dazzling tablescape can easily be achieved on a budget. A bold pop of color can be stunning when set against a neutral background. Inexpensive, yet rich in drama: Pair a white table and place settings with bright red zinnias, roses, or hibiscus. The singular red splash of color, although simplistic in style, conveys a modern elegance.
10
Festive Flare
Mix and match orange and pink napkins and vibrant flowers to create a festive yet uncomplicated tablescape. Colors can create the mood you want for your reception— upbeat, happy and ready for fun. Perfect for an outdoor summer wedding! To add an artfully contrived flare to the tables, push multiple tables together to create a “snake” shape or curve. Or, arrange them into an “X” or the first letter of your last name. Forget the “rules”—this is your day to let your imagination run wild; let your friends see your style and voice shine through. It’s time to let your inner artist and architect out of the box and guide you in designing the wedding reception of your dreams!

Says it All THE BOUQUET
BY BRANDI EVERETT
Daisies Just in case you are planning a traditional wedding, daisies are the perfect flowers for you. They are simple, delicate and are available in various colors. The themes of purity and innocence associated with daisies make them spectacular.
12
Carnations If your wedding theme is vintage, the ruffled texture of carnations will add an excellent touch. If you are going for a monochromatic look and don’t want to break the bank by getting a centerpiece made of only roses, you can add a couple of carnations. The rich mix of pink and green carnations will give a warm touch to your wedding. You will be saving some money and still get the best of both worlds.
A subtle mix of painted leaves and succulents will add life to your bouquet: A little deviation from common practice can make a brilliant addition to your flower bouquet. A couple of gold or silver painted leaves will add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your collection of flowers. 13
Orchids These exquisite flowers are your go-to flowers for nuptials. Their delicateness and unrivaled beauty make them perfect for your wedding. If your eyes are a shade of green, you can carry a full arrangement of green orchids to accentuate your regal look.
Calla lilies The beauty of calla lilies cannot be overemphasized. Just a handful will make an exquisite bouquet on your wedding day. They are associated with good luck charm for a happy home. So, you might want to grab a couple of calla lilies just before you say your vows. They come in different colors ranging from white, yellow, red, pink, purple and black.
14
Tulips A delicate arrangement of long stemmed tulips can make the whole difference in your wedding ensemble. They are not too big or small, they are perfect. Red, purple, yellow or white tulips have striking color patterns and they are enchanting in their simplicity.

BY SHIRIN MEHDI Wedding cakes today can be the focal point of your wedding, but did you know that this opulent centerpiece has a long history? A reflection of the tiered cake we know today was first seen only in the 1900s. In this day and age, couples go all out to make a memory out of this age-old tradition. The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity with wedding cakes.
This year is all about simplicity and sophistication as things take a more modern approach from the rustic theme that dominated 2019. A traditional cake is the first and the best choice, but 2020 is all about monochromatic themes. The all white on white cake is back and it’s making a statement. White cake, white pearls, white flowers, white piping are all going to be the must-haves for your show-stopper cakes this year.
17
Fun Fact: The origins of the wedding cake were seen in ancient Rome where the groom crumbled a piece of bread over the bride’s head as a symbol of fertility. All the guests would take a piece home for good luck. 18
Fun Fact: Layered cakes probably evolved from the idea of a stack of spiced buns served at weddings in Medieval England. It is said that if the bride and groom could share a kiss over these buns, they would enjoy a lifetime of togetherness.
Fill them with the flavor trends for 2020 like pistachio, lime, pink champagne and earl grey and your guests are going to be talking about your wedding cake for years to come.

FAvors Your Guests Won't Forget
BY JULIE MADDOCK The wedding favors! Your guests can’t wait to discover what little take-home treat or gift you have prepared especially for them. And you certainly don’t want to disappoint them. But, with literally hundreds of ideas to pick from and a budget to be mindful of, how do you choose a wedding favor that will make a lasting impression? Simplicity, creativity, and a personal touch is all that is needed. It’s time to indulge your inner artist and raise DIY to the next level. You can choose to incorporate the overall theme of your wedding into the party favor. Or, let the favor represent you and your partner’s personal interests, a glimpse into what makes the two of you happy. Thoughtfully made, organic gifts are keepsakes that you and your guests will cherish long after the last dance.
24
Whether your guests are flying to your exotic destination wedding or simply across the country to be present on your special day, a perfect way to convey your appreciation for their travel is a personalized luggage tag. These one-of-a-kind gifts will not only make a great impression, but they are quite practical and may inspire your guests to embark on their own travel adventures. Search online or at a fabric store for leather strips or shapes precut or larger genuine leather sheets that you can use to design your own luggage tag. Use a leather hole punch, rivets, and leather cord to finish off the tag. Ready to personalize it? Use acrylic leather or crafter’s paint to paint your favorite wanderlust quote. Or use letter stencils designed for leather crafting. Your creativity and attention to detail will make these gifts unforgettable!
After a night of dancing and celebrating, waking up the following morning will be a whole lot easier for your guests with a coffee bean gift bag. Purchase your favorite coffee beans from a local roaster or from a place that is significant to you (perhaps the city you first met or the country you will be honeymooning in). Within a day or two before the wedding, measure out two servings or more into individual food safe bags or tiny jute bags (you can easily make these yourself). Print your own custom stickers telling your coffee “story and then seal up the bag. Can you think of a better way for your friends and family to start their day?

Meet Me At The
Tapas Bar
28
BY JULIE MADDOCK
A tapas bar is a culinary mini moment! Vivid and colorful in presentation, offering a little something for everyone, this is a delicious and budget-friendly way to break bread with your wedding guests. It’s all about the presentation, flare and flavor. Whether it’s cocktail-hour hors d’oeuvres or an innovative alternative to a formal, sit down meal, tapas-style food bars offer your guests delectable treats and numerous small plate options to feast their eyes and taste buds on. Tapa bars lend themselves to relaxed conversation, a chilled-out atmosphere and the ability for guests to mingle about freely. Embrace a Venetian theme with a cicchetti bar. These bite-size delights are easy to eat while standing and moving about conversing with guests. Have an array of offerings: Six to eight pieces make a meal. But don’t be surprised if your guests sample more of these irresistible treats — crostini topped with gorgonzola, sliced pears, and walnuts, polpette (fried meatballs), slices of roast beef
with salsa verde, fig and ricotta, or crispy calamari with lime and chili salsa. Break tradition and say hasta la vista to cracker-and-cheese plates and surprise your guests with a festive Mexican themed guacamole bar. Provide crisp, sturdy tortillas for dipping and scooping multiple versions of guacamole — creamy,
chunky, or even spicy charred pineapple guac. Additional Mexican dip options such as chili queso, chipotle street corn dip with goat cheese, and hearty warm shredded chicken or beef nacho dip will keep this bar hopping. Don’t forget gluten free chips and lots of sliced green, red, and orange peppers to satisfy everyone.

GROOM'S STYLE Trends 2020
If you thought that planning a wedding mainly entails a quest for that perfect white dress, you might be wrong. It takes the yang to complete the yin and therefore the union of man and wife requires the groom’s outfit to be just as perfect as that pristine gown. Traditionally, the groom always opts for a dapper black tux, but today there are more than a few options available for men to get fancy at their wedding. With the onset of a new year and a new decade the style quotient only gets higher. Let’s take a look at how men can be trendy grooms in 2020.
BY SHIRIN MEHDI 1. PICK A PLAYFUL TIE It’s a big day! While it is all formal and solemn, it is also fun and exciting and this 2020 trend perfectly reflects that emotion. You can pick any color you like and then let loose with the choice of patterns – dots, flowers, stripes, checks – or a combination of them all, and you are all set to take the center stage.
30
2. WORK WITH CONTRASTING VESTS It’s a big day! While it is all formal and solemn, it is also fun and exciting and this 2020 trend perfectly reflects that emotion. You can pick any color you like and then let loose with the choice of patterns – dots, flowers, stripes, checks – or a combination of them all, and you are all set to take the center stage.
3. AMP UP THE LUXE FACTOR WITH VELVET Velvet was cool in the ’80s and it is cool today! If you are not comfortable with wearing a velvet blazer, wear a velvet bowtie instead – but you must give your wedding attire a sprinkle of velvet. It is a little “extra”, but then it’s your wedding.
4. PICK JEWEL TONES Want to break from traditions? To add a little twist and a modern edge to your wedding day add some color to your wardrobe. A rich burgundy, a deep maroon, or an emerald green are great colors to pick – this will definitely add to the pomp of your wedding and make you feel extra special.
5. STAY GROUNDED WITH NAVY If you are a traditionalist and want to stick with the classics, you needn’t be disappointed with this list. Navy is the color of the year for a groom’s tuxedo. You can never go wrong with a crisp blue suit.

She believed that quality shouldn’t be dictated by a price tag, that A WOMAN SHOULDN’T HAVE TO SACRIFICE STYLE FOR COMFORT and that brides of today deserved better than average…

Top 10 s g n o S FOR THAT SPECIAL DANCE BY REBECCA GUTKNECHT
T
he first dances at a wedding are some of the most memorable experiences of the evening for both you and your spouse. Imagine looking into the eyes of the person you love most in the world and getting completely lost in the moment and the music. Nothing beats the feeling. It’s like Disney’s Sleeping Beauty when Aurora and Prince Phillip dance off into the clouds, unaware of the world below. Dreamy and magical. That’s the kind of moment you want with your beloved. Dances are just as special for mom and dad too. With this list of top 10 first dance wedding songs, you’ll be giving all of your guests, friends and family alike, the sweetest memories.
34
First Dance Timeless and beautiful. The first time you make an appearance with your new bride or groom needs to have a great opening song. Choose something that is both romantic and reminiscent of the quirks in your relationship. Go romantic with Taylor Swift’s “Lover” or classic with Etta James’ “At Last.” Some couples go for a choreographed dance to wow guests. If that’s the case, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams will do the trick. Either way, pick a first dance song that is meaningful to you, and will swing you back into the memory of a perfect night years from now. Father Daughter Dance There is nothing sweeter than being whisked off your feet by your dad. This is the last time you will be his little girl, the last time to cherish that special bond as father and daughter. There are perfect songs dedicated to the beauty of this relationship. Steven Curtis Chapman gets it right with “Cinderella.” You will truly feel like dad’s princess again, maybe even remembering the last time you danced on your father’s feet when you were small. Give dad a blast from the past with one of these tender songs. Mother Son Dance Your future mother-in-law deserves a chance to swing or waltz with her baby boy. It will be a night to remember with a sentimental melody or soft tune. You know she has been waiting for this moment, for the chance to hold onto her precious son before he goes off to become a husband. “What a Wonderful World” is always a big hit, but “Sweetest Devotion” can be just as charming.
