EXPERTS IN PINK EN ESPAÑOL LAUNCHES WITH SIGNING AT BOOKS AND BOOKS Authors Cindy Papale-Hammontree and Sabrina Hernandez Cano are launching Experts in Pink:Your Guide to Breast Health en Español on October 12 and hosting a book signing at Books and Books in Coral Gables at 5 p.m.The free event, hosted by Univision 23 news anchor Sandra Peebles, will feature a medical panel discussion with eight experts. Experts in Pink is the third book by the duo, who are committed to helping patients and their caregivers navigate their way through a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment armed with knowledge, hope and inspiration. Their first book, The Empty Cup Runneth Over, was released in 2007 followed by a second book, Miami Breast Cancer Experts: Your Indispensable Guide to Breast Health, in 2014. The third book covers important topics like cardiac effects after chemotherapy and radiation therapy, conveyed by cardiologist avier imenez, . ., and breast reconstruction, shared by plastic surgeons Roger Khouri, M.D., and Daniel Calva Cerqueira, M.D. Describing her passion projects, Cindy said, “Before we published the first edition, many books had been written about breast cancer, but never had experts in the field and throughout a community come together to share their knowledge of this specialty for the benefit of breast cancer patients and their caregivers.” Cindy has been a member of the Miami Breast Center team since 2010. Prior to joining the Center, she worked for the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for 27 years. Her passion for helping other breast cancer survivors became more pronounced after she was diagnosed in 2000 with stage I, multi-focal, invasive breast cancer

and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. She first started lecturing on the topic to high school and college students and then began writing to help educate women. Cindy is currently collaborating with Peabody Award-winning producer Derek Britt on a feature film and series inspired by her breast cancer journey. She has recently joined the Board of BRCAstrong, an organization that supports and educates survivors and previvors. Sabrina ernandez ano is a registered dietician, nutrition counselor and certified diabetes educator who specializes in bariatric and diabetic nutrition. She serves as CEO of Hummingwell, a wellness bar or meal replacement made with balanced nutrition designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. She graduated from Florida
International University with a degree in dietetics and nutrition and trained at Cleveland Clinic Hospital and Palm Springs Hospital. She has worked as a cardiovascular nutrition educator for Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute at Baptist Hospital and as a clinical educator for Berkeley Heartlab. She served as president of the Miami Dietetic Association from 1999 to 2000 and was voted the Greater Miami Dietitian of 2000 by the association. She also is a member of the American Diabetics Association.
