Bank of America Charitable Foundation Invests in Summer Jobs Nine local teens selected as Student Leaders® to help community through eight-week internship at local nonprofit

indicates that teens who are gainfully employed have lower drop-out rates, are more likely to continue their education to pursue long-term career goals, and ultimately show an increase in lifetime earning potential.

TAMPA BAY – The Bank of America Charitable Foundation today announced that nine Tampa Bay area high school students have been selected to take part in the 2012 Student Leaders program, which awards a total of 225 high school juniors and seniors from around the country with paid eight-week summer internships at local nonprofit organizations. The program is part of Bank of America’s ongoing philanthropic commitment to providing community-minded students with access and exposure to critical resources that will bolster their work and life skills while also benefiting the community. The student awardees will also travel to Washington, DC to take part in a national Student Leadership Summit this July. “Teens have been disproportionally affected by the recession with unemployment rates at an all-time high,” said Bill Goede, Bank of America market president for Tampa Bay. “Through the Student Leaders program, students are receiving more than just a paycheck. They are gaining valuable real-world experience that will help them develop further as leaders, all while helping to strengthen Tampa Bay during a time when an increased number of people need assistance.”

Participating local students are:

Judeo Christian Health Clinic, Inc Mission Statement

In the belief that we should do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God, the Judeo Christian Health Clinic provides free, quality, timely, and compassionate health care to the medically indigent residents of the Tampa Bay area who have no other resources for their health care needs. In 1972, a group of Tampa citizens realized that thousands of medically indigent people were going without adequate health care, resulting in needless physical and emotional suffering. Resolving to do something to help, they founded the Judeo Christian Health Clinic. Today, the clinic provides free, quality care to thousands of people each year. Located behind St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Tampa, the clinic houses an increasingly sophisticated array of medical, dental and optometric facilities and equipment. Monthy Guidance Hello everyone and Welcome back to your monthly guidance. This month our focus is on August. August just so happens to be the eighth month in the Gregorian calendar. According to Numerology the number 8 represents completion, perfection, the infinity or the building of a new beginning. - By Sarah Michelle, With that said, did you know sarah.michelle7.21.11@ that there were eight different gmail.com countries that gained their independence in August and they were; Singapore, Ecuador, Pakistan, Korea, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. (Now that’s Interesting!!!) It is also said that Jesus’s Life path was that of an eight, which means that his purpose was to build a new foundation/beginning on which to carry on life. (WOW that just puts a whole new twist on the month of August now huh…)

City Council weighing options for Occupy Tampa encampment in private park

Some residents of West Tampa are trying to get the Occupy Tampa encampment to clean up its park. But on July 19 city staff told Tampa City Council that, while neighbors may consider the privately-owned land to be an eyesore, there’s not much that can be done. Dennis Rogero, the city’s director of budget and neighborhood empowerment, said when code enforcement visited Voice of Freedom Park, they found no violations that warrant a citation. “We have found nothing that warrants a citation,” Rogero said, “and those few items we have found have been met with immediate compliance.” Tampa Police Captain Charles Courtoy told council a crime analyst report found that calls to the police have gone up since one month after the occupation began in late December, but crime rates have gone down. City Council is considering the issue because of a petition circulating among West Tampa residents. Four of them spoke during public comment opposing the Occupy Tampa encampment. Five members of the public defended the camp. Council member Frank Reddick wants to shut down the occupy camp on land owned by strip club entrepreneur Joe Redner. Reddick called the Voice of Freedom Park encampment “bad for West Tampa.” But assistant city attorney Ernest Mueller said it’s unclear whether Tampa City Council can take any actions because the encampment has the permission of the property owner. Tampa expects thousands of demonstrators for August’s Republican National Convention. City Council member Lisa Montelione and others said they were worried hundreds would congregate in the park if the encampment is allowed to continue. On August 16, just days before the convention, city council will receive a report on the Occupy Tampa encampment from the city’s police, attorneys, zoning and code enforcement and Hillsborough County Health Department. -Seán Kinane is assistant news director at WMNF Community Radio 88.5 FM in Tampa and produces the drive-time news program weekdays at 4 p.m. All WMNF News stories can be found athttp://wmnf.org/news and on Twitter @WMNFnews (#WMNFRNC #Tampa) and WMNF News on Facebook.

So as we go through the month of August let’s keep in mind that whatever it is that we may be starting or pursuing, we need to make sure that it comes from a place of Hope, Faith, Passion and unconditional Love. For if we have at least these ingredients while laying the foundation, than you will build something that will be of everlasting! Now some of you may have noticed that communication with others and things have been mixed up lately! People may be misunderstanding you or vice versa. Your computer or cell phone may be acting screwy. Whatever may be the case, know that all these minor annoyances are only temporary and are due to Mercury (The Planet that controls all forms of our intelligence/ communication) is moving at a slower pace than usually. Whenever this happens, all and any form of communication gets mixed up. There are a lot of misunderstandings and inconveniences while trying to get our points across. Unfortunately, this will continue until the latter part of the months so hang in there Everyone! Also during the months we experience different phases of the moon that can/will help and be beneficial to us if we learn how to use them properly. On Aug 2 we will have a full moon in Aquarius , what this means is that it’s time to reap the rewards and benefits of your past deeds that were selfless, logical, humanitarian and beneficial for all of those who were involved. So remember, all of your good deeds will soon have the recognition they deserve! On Aug 17th we will have a new moon in Leo, what this means is that it’s a good time to plant seeds for the things you are passionate about and to let your creativity and expression flow free so that it allows you to manifest the things that you need to help you prosper in whatever you may be laying the foundation for. During the month of August the Sun’s zodiac energies that help influence our thoughts and behaviors are Leo and Virgo. This means that the major focus for this month should be on putting order and setting boundaries when it comes to our passions/creativity and the way we express ourselves to the world. From August 1-17 our focus should be on taking pride in our passions/creativities and expressing them in a manner that attracts others to be enticed by the things that we do. It’s also the time to start the foundation of what it is that we want to accomplish in the future and put our all into it… From August 17-31 our focus should be on setting boundaries and putting into order the things that will help us accomplish our dreams, goals and/or aspirations. This is a good time to make that which is imperfect, perfect! If you analyze and examine everything carefully, I promise in the end you’ll be glad that you did.

RNC Coming to TB by David Adams On a single night in January 2011, 67,495 Veterans were homeless in the United States. This is unacceptable: Veterans who have honorably served our country should have a safe and secure place to call home. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) aims to end Veteran homelessness by 2015. VA needs our help to meet this ambitious target. Tampa Epoch has joined VA in its fight and is enlisting our members to support the cause. Much is being done. VA has transformed its programs for Veterans who are homeless and those who are at risk of homelessness—and their families as well. Veterans nationwide are eligible for comprehensive, coordinated access to health care, housing, employment, education, job counseling and training, and justice system assistance and benefits. Homeless Veterans and those at risk of homelessness can gain access to VA services 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans hotline, toll-free, at 1-877-4AID VET (1-877-424-3838). Even more can be accomplished. We can use Tampa Epoch’s commitment to supporting our Veterans: • Know the Facts. Any Veteran may be at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support from family and RNC continued on page 11 If you feel you could use an extra boost, here are some crystals and stones you can use to help you get the desired outcome. Clothing may also acquire a thin, filmy layer of soap because your washer can’t thoroughly rinse the fabric. Did I still have what it takes to “stop traffic”? I started paying more attention to my surroundings. And It didn’t take me long to find out that, resoundingly, the answer is “No.” On my morning three mile walk down Bayshore Boulevard, I get no cat-calls, high-fives or second glances. Nor do I merit even a cursory glance from passing motorists. The double-takes and head turning gazes are still happening, alright, but not to me. They are all directed to the firm of tush (rear end), - the ponytailed gals breezily jogging by on the sidewalks, also passing me by without a glance. Their bodies are golden tan; their upper arms buff and their thighs firm and smooth. No jiggling knees. Swollen knee caps. Sagging jaw lines. Droopy boobs. My consolation is that while I am becoming invisible to many, on the inside I am busier than ever. Filled with the self-confidence that only living a long life can engender, I am taking risks, crossing new intersections, traveling down roads never dared to travel before. (No puns intended.) And if I’m not stunning, ravishing, and delightful to look at, I can deal with it because my inner life is richer. Richer than ever. Ha.Ha. Who am I kidding? Sure the empty nest solitude is great. And the freedom that comes with being done with raising your children. No reading bed time stories when you are exhausted. No homework policing when you have a headache. No packing lunches when your pantry is bare. No going to soccer games when you’d rather be at the bookstore. Instead, on the weekends, I can lay in bed all day. Curl up on the porch with a good book. Start drinking wine at 11 am and not be worried that I am a poor role model for my sons. Go tubing on a nearby river with my husband and not have to keep an eye on the kinder. And just once – one teeny tiny time – before I turn 65 on August 5th, I want a handsome hunk of a guy, in a pick-up truck, shirtless, wearing only a pair of jeans and sneakers, to give me a backward glance as he barrels down the highway. I want him to jam on his brakes, come to a screeching halt – and as he gives me a very long, you backward when spendglance - I want him to stop traffic. Then, at that crucial moment, I will slide into my 65th $15.00 or more year - satisfied and empowered.

Invisible is an interesting word. The dictionary defines it as unable to be seen; not visible to the eye. Synonyms would be: unseen - viewless - sightless – imperceptible. Medicare is looming on my personal horizon, as I am turning 65 in August. Yikes. How could it be that I graduated from high school 47 years ago? And that I have been driving a car for almost 50? And voting in more presidential elections than I care to recall or even can recall. Of course, along with all these mini milestones and adult privileges come the ravages of aging too. And the indignities of becoming a senior citizen - like being overlooked, seen as not there. Invisible. My physical decline actually started years ago but lately has become much more apparent to me. Hence, my tale: A few months ago, I walked into Marx Bagels – one of my regular haunts when I’m visiting in Cincinnati, my hometown. I noticed that owner John Marx was busy talking to two of my high school cronies – who, for purposes of confidentiality, will go unnamed. Apparently my appearance provoked some reminiscing on their parts. A discussion ensued and both Woodward High School graduates agreed that in high school I “was so good looking I stopped traffic.” In typical John fashion, he heartily announced this to the whole restaurant. Wow, I thought to myself, what a great compliment. I wish I had known then how these two felt. Most of my days at Woodard High School, I went to school feeling awkward, self-conscious and fat. How enlightening to know that not everyone was so negatively affected by my looks. In fact, I really didn’t give the back-handed, better-late-than-never compliment much credence or if you mention this ad thought until I got back to Florida. Mulling over the Keep Coping, remark, I realized with a start that they had been talking Iris Ruth Pastor in the past tense.

Tampa’s Bid for the 2012 Olympiad By Neil Cosentino, Camelot Florida, June 14, 2012 This is the second of a three-part story of how and why Tampa bid for the 2012 Olympiad.

PART TWO

On Friday October 9, 1997 Camelot Florida, a Tampa based public interest think tank sent twelve faxes to get Florida for the first time in a bid for the 2012 Olympiad. There was a temptation to send that fax with the U.S. Olympic Committee cover letter and attachments to all the Florida media and to all the major cities in Florida. It would have caused an interesting “firestorm” of activity. But that was not the target – the mission, putting the Florida Global airport agenda aside – the mission was to make Tampa the sole bid city in Florida and for Florida to compete in an Olympics for the first time and to compete against New York, Texas, and California. A Friday was selected knowing that there would be little opportunity for the naysayers to work against the bid proposal and that a major decision had to be made by Monday, October 12 latest. The deadline was October 20, 1997. The activists ploy or game plan could be called “Stampede” knowing that not acting would have be taken have been seen as a gross missed opportunity. This is a case study in a handbook for activists. We had counted on luck, timing and on that simple human physiology for our success. The only follow-up that Friday was one telephone call to Gene Gray. It was essential that he received the fax that day since he was the key to the tourism contingency money. $150,000 was needed for the bid. We knew that he would have to quickly contact everyone on the Hillsborough County tourist development council [TDC]. The telephone conversation went like this, … Gene, did you get the fax we sent you about our Olympic bid...what do you think? His response was that he got the fax. I then told him the two cities in California; two in Texas, New York City and even Cincinnati was already in the bid. I then asked him if he had been to Cincinnati, I told him that I was there once, that is was a nice town with a big wide muddy river, but Gene it was not Florida not Tampa Bay with all we have. I said no more knowing that he had to act that day on the fax. I called Gene Gray again Monday morning to follow-up. He told me that there would be an emergency meeting of the TDC on Tuesday at 2pm in the County Center. I attended and enjoyed in the shadows – a-pictureon-the-wall experience; to watch government do something right. Those same feelings of satisfaction when the BOCC voted to saved the Friendship Trail Bridge the first time and keep the $7 million that came with the bridge. Only this was a bigger project with far more spinoff win or lose. A statewide event with more funding and far more potential, especially for the much-needed statewide transportation system and eventually the Florida Global Airport project. [KFGA]. All the members of the County Tourism Development Council were there, including Mayor Greco. Commissioner Dottie Burger – the BOCC Chair person came in at exactly 2 pm. Attractive with blonde hair, she looked great in her very business like power suit. She went very business like directly to the head of the conference table and immediately officially opened the meeting by saying they were all meeting to approve the withdrawal of $150,000 from the TDC contingency fund for the 2012 Olympic bid. She then asked for a motion, it was seconded, she asked for any discussion, there was none; the vote was taken and passed unanimously. In the same breath, she asked for a motion to adjoin - the meeting took less than sixty seconds. A meeting that for a county if not state government set a record that afternoon that will be hard to beat. So-far-so-good, I was pleased, it worked as planned. We were in the bid for the 2012 Olympiad - mission completed. It was Game On from then on. The next task was to wait for the right time to introduce the Florida Global Airport [FGA] project. PART III will explain what followed. The last part of the story will be based on media reports and interviews with staff and the insiders. Please contact CamelotFlorida@verizon.net or call 813.251.4669 if you were involved in bid process - in anyway. What would you like to ask or to share with readers, this invitation includes volunteers and the media.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Veterans Outreach Initiative Fact Sheet Help End Veteran Homelessness “Those who have served this nation as Veterans should never find themselves on the streets, living without care and without hope.” – U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki The Issue: Those who served our country should never face homelessness. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to ending Veteran homelessness by 2015. On a single night in January 2011, more than 67,495 Veterans were homeless, 12 percent lower than in 2010. VA is providing a comprehensive solution to getting our Veterans off the streets. Yet many Veterans at risk of homelessness are not aware that VA has specialized programs available to get them on their feet before they end up on the street. What Veterans Affairs Is Doing: Big problems deserve big solutions. VA has expanded health care, housing, and employment support services this year to end and prevent Veteran homelessness. VA needs help to spread the word: • VA is asking every American to get involved in the fight against Veteran homelessness. The best way to prevent Veterans from becoming homeless is to hire them. • Women Veterans are particularly at risk of homelessness. They are the fastest growing segment of the Veteran homeless population because their needs differ from those of male Veterans. VA has services targeted specifically to provide women Veterans with the support they need so they never become homeless. • VA is forging unprecedented partnerships with community organizations by providing them with funding to help end Veteran homelessness. • VA and HUD have teamed up to provide permanent

They Fought for Our Home. Now Help Us Fight for Theirs. On a single night in January 2011, 67,495 Veterans were homeless in the United States. Any Veteran may be at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support from family and friends, and substance abuse or mental health issues. All Veterans and their families have earned access to VA benefits, community-based supports, and other resources. • Spread the Word. VA has specialized programs to assist homeless and at-risk Veterans and operates the nation’s largest network of homeless assistance programs. Make sure Veterans know about this support and help them get the care they deserve. • Make the Call. Trained responders are ready to talk confidentially by phone or online chat 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Veterans, family members, friends, and other supporters can call the hotline toll-free at 1-877-4AID VET (1-877-424-3838) or visit www.va.gov/ homeless. We urge you to share this information with family, friends, and colleagues. Learn more by visiting va.gov/ homeless. Make a difference. Make the call.

Dishing with Deanna Dear Deanna: Our five year old son is very strong willed and I would characterize him as rebellious a lot of the time. My husband and I are really frustrated and many times this affects our relationship as well. I’m really at a loss as to where to turn. We can’t even go to restaurants without a lot of the people staring at us because of our son’s behavior. What advice can you give a tired wife and mother who just wants peace? -Stressed to the Max Dear Stressed: Two words for you: REALITY DISCIPLINE. I totally believe in, and used this method of discipline for my own children. The phrase “reality discipline” was coined by child psychologist Dr. Kevin Leman. This method works a lot better than screaming, begging, counting to three, or the many other things parents try that seem to only end in frustration. In his excellent book, Have a New Kid by Friday, Dr. Leman says that the goal of parenting is not to create happy kids; rather, it’s to create responsible kids. Let me explain how this worked in a situation with one of our children. When our now 21 year old son was just a little boy we would have issues going out to eat in public. Like many children, he would act up at restaurants. This was not only embarrassing to us, but also created a tense atmosphere for other diners. People would stare at us and it was so embarrassing! Black Dagger Military Hunt Club (MHC) VA Adaptive Sports On Friday, July 13th, the Black Dagger Military Hunt Club and James A. Haley Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital brought wounded veterans out to a privately owned range. The wounded warriors came to practice shooting, a pastime that many soldiers love. The veterans had the opportunity to fire a wide array of weapons, including some that were fully automatic, guaranteeing a special treat for any shooter. Other weapons included handguns, long/short-barreled rifles and even sound suppressed weapons. The sound of gunfire echoed throughout the large open area, and many smiling faces could be seen as vets exited the firing range. Along with the Black Dagger MHC and VA representatives, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office flew out a helicopter, and Sheriff David Gee came along to support the men and women who were injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of the veterans who came out suffer from TBI (traumatic brain injuryand PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The range can be extremely helpful to veterans, especially those suffering from a lingering fear of firearms and explosions, often left over from injuries in combat. Black Dagger MHC has partnered with the James A. Haley VA Hospital and their strong Adaptive Sports Program, designed to help veterans feel comfortable shooting again. Through donations from the OSU-UML of adaptive equipment designed and manufactured by Be Adaptive Equipment company, former soldiers were even able to shoot from wheelchairs. The VA and Black Dagger MHC have been working closely together planning events for veterans. These adaptive shooting events give wounded veterans an opportunity to get behind a rifle again, relieve some stress and have a great time! The Black Dagger MHC goal is stated on the home page of their website: “Our non-profit organizational focus and goal is to enable military personnel (both wounded and well) who have a passion for hunting, shooting, and the outdoors, the ability to do so!” All of the Black Dagger MHC volunteer their time for free, and do so happily. The organization stresses that all of their support comes strictly on a volunteer basis. On the home page, the non profit institution says, “We are made up of military veterans (from all 5 branches) who know how important it is to support our troops!” In addition to working closely with the VA, many Black Dagger MHC members still work closely with the active military to assist troops in any way they can. Black Dagger president David Winters has held two previous events similar to Friday’s fun shoot and intends to hold many more events in the future. A 5K fun run is also in the works, with all proceeds going to veterans charities.

Cultural Encounters Under the Fourth Amendment, there are three types of encounters that have been characterized by the courts. A simple way to explain these encounters is through a series of hypotheticals. In the series of hypotheticals, I will use Officer Smith as the law enforcement officer and John Jones. Let’s say John Jones is walking down Main Street around Tampa. Officer Smith sees John and approaches him to ask him a few questions. Officer Smith is permitted to do this, but John does not have to answer or acknowledge Officer Smith’s questions. He does not have to even produce his identification. The caveat being that Officer Smith does not have any objective, reasonable suspicions that John is taking part in criminal activity. However, if John does agree to answer Officer Smith’s questions, the agreement is referred to as a consensual encounter because John gave his consent to answer Officer Smith’s questions. John Jones can also freely withdraw his consent at any time and leave as long as Officer Smith doesn’t have objective, reasonable suspicions that John is participating in criminal activity. John should under no circumstances run from Officer Smith because that could, under the circumstances, create reasonable suspicion to detain him. Now let’s add some more facts to Officer Smith’s observations of John. If Officer Smith sees John hanging around a jewelry store, and Officer Smith believes, based on his training, experience, and knowledge, that John is gathering information to rob the store, Officer Smith can stop John and ask him some questions. In

A Poem - My Home My Home, My City, My Birthplace, My Black Hole I walk along the streets that I call foreign Broken roads and broken dreams are common here See the brick buildings play a very controversial role; they prevent from corrosion, but the attitude is exactly what the buildings are trying to prevent The oppressed are home here, many of which gather in the alleyways professing their nostalgia for what they once had Throughout the neighborhood floating debris plagues the townspeople suffocating back pocket dreams and aspirations But on the intersection of poverty and despair there lies a motivation to hustle. Street performer’s play 1950’s melodies in order to beautify what one would call Hell Although catastrophe has hit this part of the town the pavement has risen and conformed into human form From the corner drug store on Sleigh Avenue to Ms. Whitley’s delicatessen on 35th The body has a central Nervous System allowing the streets to feel Oh, they feel and they exclaim with a promise but just as a tree falling in a forest, where no one is not around, it is not heard See the streets have a name just like you and me, but it is a name that always changed like that kid in high school that everyone picked on, one minute his name was Michael the next minute it was loser It is an interpretation that proliferates the thoughts of the ignorant but rest assured, the streets have a skin a so tough it makes an elephant’s skin seem as smooth as a baby’s bottom For words cannot simply penetrate the rigidity of the pavements mentality Block by block social barriers are constructed limiting the impoverished to the rest of society. It is as If God sent down a human carved by the master hands just to create a shell of ruff exterior and gave it organs but left it to decide if it would rise up to the social confines that life itself requires See the body was given no instruction Manual, no guide nor mentor. It only has brute force and a given need to survive so the body took lungs

fact, Officer Smith can briefly detain John to answer the questions. This is commonly referred to as a Terry stop. Furthermore, if Officer Smith’s concerns have not been dispelled, Officer Smith can perform a brief pat down of John for weapons. If, during a cursory pat down, Officer Smith finds a weapon or other illegal substance and the illegality of the object is immediately apparent, Officer Smith may remove it and examine it. Altogether, this is referred to as a stop and frisk. However, if Officer Smith discovered that John had burglary tools on him and other indicia suggested a burglary had occurred recently, Officer Smith would have probable cause that John committed or is going to commit a crime and arrest him. But if Officer Smith does not gather any evidence to suggest a crime has been or is going to be committed he does not have the authority to arrest John. So, in example 1, if you don’t want to talk to the police and you leave, don’t run away. But understand, a refusal will only create suspicion in the officer’s mind, and he will likely continue his investigation of you at arm’s length. On the other hand, don’t consent merely to acquiesce to an officer’s show of authority. When confronted by law enforcement, feel free to recite and assert your rights, but consider the means and manner in which you do so. Try to keep it peaceful, kind, and intelligent. The officer is just doing his job. See Florida v. Royer, 460 U.S. 491 Illinois v. Wardlow, 528 U.S. 119 Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 Dunaway v. New York, 442 U.S. 200 DEANNA continued from 4 thing needed to change. At the time I read one of Dr. Leman’s books and learned about reality discipline. Our son really likes Chinese food. The next time we went out to the Chinese restaurant, sure enough he began misbehaving, wouldn’t sit in his seat, and began doing inappropriate things at the table. I gave him a warning that things were going to be very unpleasant for him if he didn’t immediately cooperate. He chose not to cooperate so therefore I signaled the server and calmly asked for our food to be placed in takeout containers. We then got up from the table and went home. My Lungs that with every oxygen ridden breath, took in the best that society had to offer and coughed it up as if they were damned from day one Lungs that exhale and expel air so putrid and vile that innovators, Imaginators, and discoverers alike were sent to the gutters to be morally enslaved to an atmosphere of destitute living Oh! The streets have a brain, a brain that knows neither right nor wrong, but only knows survival A brain that has the ability to create and destroy A brain that can get high on the ramifications that poverty brings A brain that augments reality Is this Euphoria? The answer is yes, conditions are so bad that one cannot dwell in oneself but in the collective unconscious of the others that walk by The concrete body is dying, suffering for the rest of society to live The sacrifice the streets know is like none other I call it Isaac And I call the observers lazy -Harold Shaw

Silverfish Experimental Skeleton, Inc. is proud to present “The Silverfish Revolution” , a project which will transform Tempus Projects, Tampa Fl. into a social experiment through accumulation of collages by invited artists which will be layered upon by the public during the schedule of the exhibition. The use of collage as a form is tied specifically to the creator’s personal response to popular images that are easily accessible to others; a kind of psychological and visual revolving door that “The Silverfish Revolution” injects with nitrous oxide. We intend to create a platform for the public to express, through donated ephemera, a visual map of the current cultural and political mood made concrete and captured as a moment frozen in glue.. How can you participate? Easy! Just send a collage, preferably in an 8.5” x 11” format in a manilla envelope, to Experimental Skeleton, Inc. 2929 North 15th Street, Tampa, Florida 33605. E.S. Inc. will be receiving works sent by mail until August 25th( postmarked August 25th 2012) to be included in the project. The entire accumulation project “The Silverfish Revolution” will then be on view while Tampa hosts the Republican National Convention. All submitted materials will be credited to the sender. All materials will be included and credited in the project. E.S.Inc. will also include any donated ephemera into the project. So mail in those old magazines, local chinese menus and band posters. “The Silverfish Revolution” will first open to the public on August 18th. On this evening donated ephemera will be used by the audience to add to the existing collage. A second event will be held on August 25th for the creation of signs to be taken away from Tempus Projects and used in protest or support of the convention crafted with donated ephemera. There will also be a second opportunity to add to the overall project. Any questions can be sent to Joe Griffith at c1cada@ earthlink.net. husband and I enjoyed our Chinese food. TGH Top Hospital in Florida; One of Nation’s Top 50 in 9 Medical Specialties

In addition, TGH received “High Performing” ratings in three medical specialties: cancer, gastroenterology, and gynecology. A High Performing rating is given to hospitals that perform nearly as well as the nationally rated ones in those medical categories. Last year, TGH ranked among the country’s Top 50 hospitals in seven specialties. It also ranked TGH as the best hospital in the metropolitan Tampa Bay market, a designation that will carry over into 2012-13. The state rankings are a new category developed by U.S. News. The same methodology used to rank the nation’s Top 50 Hospitals was applied to Florida hospitals to allow patients to compare hospitals outside of their communities. TGH’s national and High Performing ratings led to it becoming the top ranked hospital in the state. “It’s an honor to rank among the nation’s elite hospitals,” said Ron Hytoff, president and CEO of Tampa General. “But it also carries a responsibility to maintain the high level of medical care reflected in this ranking. It means we must maintain strong partnerships with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and with community physicians to ensure our patients get the medical care they deserve.” The 23rd annual edition of Best Hospitals showcases more than 720 of the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals.
