It feels great to be back, and to see how many things have changed in our school and there are so many new faces, including in Insider! Since changes look like this article’s topic, I realized the nature has changed also into a multi-coloured piece of art, it also represents the beautiful cycle of life, the new beginnings and here we are, starting another period in our lives. So, we can say our goodbyes to summer, and welcome autumn with open arms! If someone is still wondering, yes autumn is my favourite season! In this issue, there is delicious recipe for Scotch eggs, which is easy enough even for me to cook! If you don’t like cooking, then you can read more about the visit of our Indian visiting lecturer; Kusha Tiwari. If you don’t want to read anything, then I recommend you go to movies and watch the movie which is reviewed, there is everything for everyone in this issue! ;) Grab yourself a pumpkin spice latte, or the scotch eggs (if you end up cooking them), and enjoy this lovely issue with the amazing autumn view.

TOMMI TOIJA EXHIBITION
"Fragments"- series of paintings
On 22nd of September Mikkeli Art Museum opened the new exhibition. Tommi Toija, Finnish artist and sculptor, is presenting his works of art - little clay people. The idea was born in 2003 and was materialized as a group of sculptures called "Little Cowards" – 32-centimetre freaks with disproportionate heads and huge eyes. Every sculpture has its unique emotions and feelings. Little boys and girls, sad, questioning, playful, innocent, miserable, each is into his personal business. The most famous work of Tommi is eight-metres pissing sculpture "Bad Bad Boy", which is now exhibiting in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki.
"The Strangers" look frightening for the first glance
In current exhibition in Mikkeli Art Museum presents the new works of Tommi Toija. Among them the series of paintings "Fragments" and installation "The Strangers". The exhibition causes very contradictory feelings. On the first glance, these aliens seem scare and similar. Gradually, curiosity replaces fear and visitors notice the difference between the clay freaks. Eventually fear and curiosity give way to compassion. Small childlike clay humans are different, but

The exhibition is not a political or ideological statement, it is a depiction of human nature as it is. JUKURIT & BLUE DIAMONDS The representatives from Kaakko, Insider, exchange students, invited guests
If blue, yellow, red and white colors remind you something like hockey, then you must be acquainted with Mikkeli`s Jukurit! But if you are not into the game itself, you might have noticed bright girls dancing every game – read inside view on being a cheerleader of Jukurit in the end of the article! On 23 of September Xamk Student Union Kaakko was a “match host” for a game of Jukurit and Ilves (Tampere) and enjoyed watching from the best seats with special guests invited. Even though Ilves players were luckier during a penalty stroke competition and the game ended with 3:2 in favor of the guest team, it did not spoil the celebration mood and time was spent nicely with food and discussions of the game. You also could have a chance to win free tickets to that game, so if you are the fan of hockey, next time keep up with the facebook announcements from Kaakko. are the ones who are responsible for shining during all Jukurit home games. Anna Lazutina, a student of XAMK, became a part of Blue Diamonds this autumn, and is ready to share her feelings with us: “I wanted to join a long time ago and finally saw in Instagram that they open application period in May and decided to try. In one month after interviewing, they informed me that I was accepted and here my Blue Diamonds life was begun. Initially, I was very nervous about the team`s attitude towards me, because I`m the only one who does not speak Finnish and I was afraid that I would be an outsider, but girls are trying to do their best to make me feel comfortable.
There are two trainings each week, where we are dancing, learning new choreographies and having fun. The most thrilling part is waiting before the game. My heart stops indeed. The games give you amazing feelings, especially, when our guys score – that moment you are full of proudness and truly happy. Overall, this experience is definitely worth to try. The team is very cool and you will get a lot of friends there. Everyone is trying to be not just a team, but a family. KUSHA TIWARI On September 17, 2017 we had a visiting lecturer KUSHA TIWARI and her students from Delhi University coming. Let’s get to know something about our visiting lecturer What field are you in? I teach literature to undergraduate students. We teach literature of America, Britain, Africa, and Indian literature of course. I also teach business communication to our students. Sounds like you need to travel a lot doing this job. Not exactly, because I teach at Delhi University mostly, we do go to give lectures in other colleges, mainly in India. What do you think of Kouvola during your two-day staying here so far? Kouvola is beautiful, it is green. I walked to the campus today, it was a nice walk. People are good here, they are friendly, you can ask them for directions, they are happy to help. It has been good so far, the campus is great, great infrastructures and facilities. I visited the workshop, I found it really interesting that you have such different courses running, students have a lot opportunities to develop their interests, they can actually pursue their interests. In India we basically offer traditional courses, we have humanities, science and so on, but
we don’t have something like design courses, it’s pretty nice to see. How do you feel about being a visiting lecturer? Do you enjoy it? Of course I enjoy it. Because you know I have been teaching since 2005, it has been 12 years, I have taught different students in different institutions. For the last 9 years I’m in the same institution, traveling and visiting other places and universities could get you updated. You get to know new ideas, you get
to see new people, you can understand their approach to the subjects, and get to know what is going around in the other universities. It’s good to travel because I get to see what is happening in India or in other countries. SCOTCH EGGS
Scotch eggs are one of the most popular picnic food items in the United Kingdom. They are said to be originated from as early as the 1730s; and have had numerous variations around Europe ever since. This traditional version is the ultimate comfort food in this chilly weather, or whenever you suddenly crave some yolky, meaty and flavorful egg-balls. Instructions: 1. Fill up a pot with enough water to cover half the eggs, put the lid on and steam for exactly 6 minutes if you want them soft-boiled, add 2 more minutes for hard-boiled. 2. After boiling, run the eggs under cold water for 15 seconds for easier peeling. 3. In a bowl, combine ground pork, salt, garlic powder and cayenne together. Spread it out on a piece of plastic wrap as evenly as possible, about 0,5 cm thick. Divide into two. 4. Prepare flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs in separated bowls/ plates. 5. With damp hands, carefully wrap the meat around the eggs until it’s completely sealed. This could be tricky, but if the eggs were properly boiled and your hands are damp (not wet!), you can do it. 6. Cover the eggs with flour, egg and breadcrumbs respectively, using the dry hand-wet hand method. This basically means you use one hand to touch the egg, and the other for flour and breadcrumbs. Thus, a way less messy process. 7. Fry the eggs for 6 minutes or until golden. Serve them with aioli or any sauce you fancy. I originally wanted a molten yolk, but accidentally left the egg in for too long so the result wasn’t as expected (as seen in the picture), but it still tastes heavenly. EXCHANGE VIEW Applying for a specialistion training place was not an easy thing to do, vol 1 I started to look for suitable companies already in November 2016, just a few months after starting my studies in XAMK. iGaming is a huge industry here in Malta, and I figured that I should try to get an internship from this industry, since it is all the time growing and there is a lot of great possibilities career-wise. So, started with sending five applications first, to the five biggest companies on the island. I was certain that the companies would be screaming to have me and I could decide which company to go to – after all, my CV looked great and I think I did a good job with the cover letter as well. But, as weeks went on, nothing happened. No response, nothing. Weeks just went by. In January I decided to start sending my applications to all the companies that I could find. And I really did that. I sent probably 30 or 40 applications. It was very time consuming, since I of course changed my cover letter and CV according to the company I was applying for. And still, nothing. Many said that this industry just works that way: they do not want interns since it is a waste of money and time to train the intern and then just watch him/her leave after the period is over. At this point I felt like quitting, but managed to somehow still continue searching. After all, it was my dream and the plan that I had had for almost a year now. Finally, in the middle of April I knew I would have to stop searching, trying and most importantly, hoping, since it was just very stressful to try to look for the internship and at the same time do well in my studies. I had also in March decided to start my thesis already. And, since I am a mom, I wanted to have energy for my son as well. At this point I gave up and looked for a training place in Kouvola. That wasn’t easy either. Three different marketing agencies were just ignoring me, which was kind of a shocker as well. Anyways, after months of desperately trying, life happened‌ Suvi Karell

Xamk is working first time ever in this kind of project together with IFPI-Finland ry to offer students a whole new type of free studies options. Emma Gala is Finnish music award show, which happens once in a year. Emma Gala was organized first time on the year 1983, and the following one is going to be 3.2.2018 at Espoo Metro Arena. In the event artists get awarded in various categories, last year's categories added up to 23 different ones. The Emma Gala is televised trough Nelonen (channel four). The two-year contract will include students in three different projects: planning the social media marketing, designing one of the trophies and planning the outfits for people giving the trophy. First of the courses called social media marketing started at 14.9. in a kickstart session with media office OMD together with the music producer personnel. Musician Aleksanteri Hakaniemi was present as a guest artist to share his ideas and visions for the project. The social media marketing course includes lectures, online studies and a rare opportunity for students to see and visit places such as local music record companies and marketing office OMD. The course started with marketing lectures offered by OMD, and continued by brief regarding the social media marketing of Emma Gala. Based on the brief students will work in groups creating their own strategy. The winning social media marketing strategy will be implemented, and the winning group will be part of the media team. Winning team will also be present on Emma Gala, and their main job there will be to interview the musicians. Lotta Lehtinen

Movie is sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service. Kingsman is a tailor shop in London, which is only a cover up for secret agent service. Kingsman secret service consists of highly trained undercover agents who fight terrorism with their imaginative high technology gear. If you are looking for over the top action comedy with a lot of craziness going on, Kingsman: The Golden Circle would be the movie for you. Movie consists of British gentlemen in suits fighting in well-designed action scenes, loads of comedy and last but surely not least a world-famous music icon wearing outfit made entirely of feathers. Plot itself isn’t super complicated, but the main thing in this movie is the action scenes. The amount of action is impressive, and every fighting scene is implemented well. Characters are very colourful and cast includes many well-known actors. Movie starts up kind of serious, but as the plot goes on the craziness adds up to a ludicrous level. In fighting scenes, the enemies get executed in the most creative ways possible and the agents use all kinds of unusual weapons to fight against them. There is much more than just the usual car chase and shooting action to be expected. If you are seeking for an action movie filled with comedy, and don’t mind seeing peoples guts flying around or unappropriated humour, I would highly recommend.

Nordic Business Forum is a 2-day conference, held in Helsinki. Each year this conference provides an experience to engage and exchange opinions, which is guided by some of the best leaders in business. Each year Nordic Business Forum has different theme, this year’s themes were Purpose, Responsibility and Leadership. In each category, they had their own speakers, and they shared their own opinion and experience and gave also some tips to the audience to motivate them to never give up! In this year’s event, there were very famous speakers, such as Sir Richard Branson (founder of Virgin Group), Nick Vujicic (New York Times bestselling author) and Will Smith (do I need to introduce him?)! The theme purpose was very interesting to listen, because it probably made everyone in the room to take a deep breath and think about themselves, what is their purpose in life, are we always going to be students or is there any other purpose for us, etc. Another speaker that had a huge impact on the audience was probably Nick Vujicic, and how he explained that failure is not a bad thing, a lot of amazing things happen when the person doesn’t give up. This year was the second time we got to enjoy this event through livestream on our campus, special thanks to PatteriES for organizing it once again. Just a reminder that the ticket to the event itself costs around 2000 €, so it was so much cheaper to attend this event through livestream.
