EDITORIAL Hi everyone! Halloween has past and hopefully everybody had an awesome time! Hopefully we all have enough energy to do the final sprint with studies before Christmas. Keep it up, we can do it! On this week’s issue we will be having some new interesting and inspiring articles. One is telling about the marketing possibilities of Xamk. A very interesting topic for all of us because marketing is a very useful skill whatever your degree is. So check it out and you might as well get new ideas. We will also learn a lot of Austria as one of our writers spent their autumn holiday there. Imagining the scenery of Austria, the article must be very interesting and exciting. Imagine the architecture and nature. Must be a lot different there than in Scandinavia.
Also we have a new student story about a game designer from Poland. A very artistic student with an inspiring story. It´s very cool to get to know people from different background and degrees. On this issue we will also tell how it was in the schools Halloween party this autumn. I bet everyone had fun and hopefully many people created cool costumes. Check out our article about ice hockey matches and the weekly movie review about “Doctor Sleep”. Sports and movies are fun entertainment so go and experience if you have time and the possibility. Remember we are still holding a competition, so you have the possibility to win unique prizes. Do your best with school work and enjoy reading this weeks issue.

MARKETING Marketing opportunities of XAMK There has been, and will be, certain events in our school. In these events, there is a possibility to apply our studies to real life situations. For example, from the last week even, MotoGP entrepreneur conference, there was big possibility to meet local entrepreneurs for our students. This would allow us to discuss about our future in both working and studying life. We would like to tell you that you must participate. In the MotoGP, one of our students took the chance to ask questions about his idea, a waffle house. He basically made examples of his product and serve it to the participants of the event and asked for feedback. From his Marketing Research class, he used his studies to make a survey and made people fill up the survey. A feedback source for the idea and a chance to talk about it to the people who are doing business in the region already.

We are hoping to help our students to understand that they are most welcome to develop themselves and their ideas. And this goes through applying their studies. That is the reason this is a University of Applied Sciences. Anyone that needs additional information can reach out to Insider Student Magazine for leads. You will find people in there any time any day, but everyone is there on Monday at 15:00 if you cannot find us.
There were not any students that visited there. There were a few, but they had to be there for some tasks they had do with the event. That means students that were informed about the event to take willing participation was not there. For all students but especially business students, this was a good opportunity that was missed. Anyways, the reason of this article is that students can use school facilities for their own use. If you have any reason to use any facilities for your ideas, it is actually very easy. There are many responsible people in our main building of the school, and it is very easy to reach them out. Mikhail Nemilentsev is one of them. Riku Happonen is another one. Anu Vainio is with Research and Development department of our school. They will help you to develop any idea that you come up with. We have heard rumors that they have been complaining about the situation with students that they are having 4

HALLOWEEN Halloween party
“Halloween is the time when no one is actually wearing a costume” Halloween is the best opportunity for students to use their imagination and creativity to make as terrifying and catchy costumes as possible. Even though, not all of us are design students, yet when it comes to costumes, the designer side of us comes to life to make fascinating yet easy costumes for the sake of a perfect Halloween party. To get an economical solution, most students resort to the thrift shopping to find different vintage costumes, fabrics and accessories. For others decided to be creative with the piece of cloth they had laying in the deep dark corners of their closet. Even though for most of us this holiday is for the sweets and costumes, but it is important to realise that some people among others wear these dark and terrifying costumes not just for fun but to have a good time with their close ones and not be lonely. Therefore, there was ice-cream shots with various flavours for just 2e.
Club Touba, like every year, had its doors opened for the ‘creatures’ from all around the Universe like vampires, demons, angels, witches, students, etc. The spooky atmosphere of the club was highlighted by many thematic decorations, while the DJ had his best hits of all time and foggy show while dancing. Even though, it was not a full moon night, everyone was feeling this spirit of dark magic in the air. Hopefully, you had a happy Halloween. But it is important to remember that even though it is just one night per year, it happens every year once again. Till next fear year!

EXCHANGEVIEW Autumn break in Austria For my autumn break in October, I chose to go back to my home country Austria to visit my friends and family and to enjoy temperatures over 20 degrees for the last time in this year. Going home is a bit difficult for me, as I have to take a flight to Munich, Germany which is 3 hours away from my actual home. Flying to Vienna would make no sense as its 4 hours from my home and flights to Salzburg are way too expensive for a student budget. Although flights to Munich are expensive as well (compared to other destinations), I chose to go home anyway as I got jealous seeing all my friends on social media going hiking up the
mountains and enjoying sunny weather, while I’m stuck in cold and dark Finland. Coming home, I was really lucky as the weather forecast was +20 degrees and sunny the whole week. Although Austria is close to the South of Europe, temperatures over 20 degrees in late October are a highlight and don’t happen really often! Good news for me, bad news for all the stuff I should do for university!

Because of the good weather conditions, I was outside the whole week. I either went for a walk or a hike, met up with my family and friends or went out for delicious, cheap Austrian beer (How I’ve missed it!!).
TV-SERIES I usually take my dog with me when I go hiking, but its getting more and more difficult to take him with me as he’s getting older and suffers even more from backpain then me! But when we’re on the top, enjoying traditional Austrian lunch (“Jausn”), all the pain is forgotten in a jiffy. During this week, it was so warm in Austria that I could even walk in a T-Shirt on a 2.500 m summit and got a little bit sunburnt. Of course, I didn’t forget to go out in my break. I had to, not only because I like to have a good night out, but also because from the 1st of November, it is forbidden to smoke inside Austrian bars, cafes and restaurants. I guess my country was one of the last ones to establish this law, but we as Austrians are a little bit sad as we love to enjoy cigarettes with a good beer (I know it’s not healthy!). So I smoked my last cigarettes in my favourite bar and said goodbye to this lovely tradition, because from now on, smokers have to stand outside in the cold, even in Austria. To sum up, I had a lovely autumn break in my home country Austria, but for now I’m glad that I’m back as it’s already snowing in Finland and this means it’s time for Glühwein! – Cheers!

ALL TO THE MATCH KooKoo (Kouvola) JYP (Jyväskylä)

Last Saturday, the final match of the autumn series KooKoo lost to the team of guests from Jyväskylä. KooKoo is currently ranked 5th in the standings, scoring 29 points in 18 games in a series. I want to note that, unfortunately, the opposing team in this match showed a game of higher quality than our team. There were 3843 people at the match. At the beginning of the match, our team player Toni Kärhönen (number 85) was congratulated on the five hundredth match in Liiga!
rules (puck delay). However, the opponent stood very tight in defense. Attempts by our team have been fruitless. On the 6th minute the removal earned our 85th number - Toni Kähkönen (playing with a high club). Nerves were at the limit that even with a throw-in, the puck flew into the stands (just where I was sitting). The ending of the period was even more aggressive and sharp. Our team noticeably began to play more on the defensive, on the sides, to make more frequent link changes. It seemed that ours would have reached the ending in the minority, but with tight defense, but after a well-played combination of the opposing team of number 3 -Anttoni Honka and passing 52 numbers - Petros Palmu for a shot from the middle line, the goal was scored by number 6 - Julius Honka. The score now stands at 0:1!
Forward to the match. From the first minutes of the match, the Jyväskylä team began to enter our zone quite actively, making sharp shots on goal. Forcing ours to make ridiculous mistakes in defense. I can note, that our goalkeeper was able to reflect all the throws of opponents. Of course, ours also tried to carry out attacks on goal of the opponent, but they were unsuccessful. At the 5th minute of the match, our team had a chance to realize the majority, as the opponent's team player 3th number - Anttoni Honka violated the 8

The score has remained unchanged! The third period was the most difficult for our team. The teams were still tense. At 42 minutes, our team’s 40th number was Martin Berger (for a blow to the arm). The opposing team did not lose precious minutes of the match! JYP confidently took up positions in our zone, having beaten our three players, made a wrist throw number 26 - Jarkko Immonen. The score now stands at 0: 2! At the 46th minute, our team again made mistakes in defense, allowing us to make a successful throw to number 52 - Petrus Palmu, from about the same point as when throwing the first goal. The score now stands at 0: 3 in favor of JYP. Our team, unfortunately, completely pasted the game in the end. The deletion followed one after another, mutual (number 40 - Markus Berger (KooKoo), and number 27 - Miska Siikonen (JYP)) for two minutes for being rude. After 2 minutes, the removal of 5 numbers - Juuso Vainio (JYP) for the bandwagon. The head coach of our
team decides to take a timeout to try to change the situation. It was decided to remove the goalkeeper, despite the fact that our team has a player on the penalty box. It seems to me that this was an irrational decision to remain without a player, and without a goalkeeper. As a result, 4 goals were thrown into the empty net! 0: 4! The match is over, victory of JYP!

STUDENTSTORY Meet Zuzanna Wolek!
Hello! I'm Zuzanna Wolek. I study game design at like drawing and painting but we learn things like I XAMK and green is my favorite color. never heard before. I think the teachers do a great job cause at the same time I don't feel lost. People I was born in Poland in 1999 in the city of Krakow. say that in Finland it is the best education and I I grew up like in the border of the city. I didn't go think they are right. Teachers are very helping with out much, I liked staying at home and drawing. everything. Painting and Drawing it's what I've been doing for my entire life. I speak Polish and English. Currently Next year we will have practical training and I am I’m learning Finnish and German language. I'd waiting for that. I believe I can find myself in a like to learn Russian in the future too. good place. If I get a job here, I would be happy and if I would get a job in Poland I would be happy In-home I finished IBDP, so I wanted to use that to with it too. study abroad. MOVIEREVIEW Doctor Sleep (wouldn’t let you sleep!) First thing that comes to a person’s mind when they get to know that there is a horror movie in the theaters nearby and it starts with the title “Stephen King’s...” is that maybe just maybe this is THE ONE horror movie unlike all the usual dissapointing ones. Now, it it is 2019 and i’m pretty sure that no one is unaware of the fact that what a great mind Stephen King has. Throughout the years, he has proven it with his classic-yet-unique horror writing that there is always a way to astonish the audience. Well, Doctor Sleep is another one of his production which has been brought to the screen by horror-specialist director Mike Flanagan.
Set in the same universe as the cult-classic “The Shining”, BLINDED BY THE LIGHT Doctor Sleep shows how Danny Torrance (Ewan Mcgregor) is managing to cope (12) | 12€ | 1h55min Fri-Sat 16:45 Sun, Wed-Thur 19:10 up with his alcoholism which was a result of the scarred childhood he had and how an evil cult group called “The True Knot”, which is led by Rose the Hat TERMINATOR: DARK FATE (Rebecca Ferguson), feeds on the shine of the young children. All in all, Mike Flanagan managed to give the best possible version of a Stephen King adaption, which as we already know is not easy for most directors. The Shining easter-eggs serve as the cream on top of a perfectly composed horror movie.
