The young programmer Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) wins a lottery to spend the weekend with his boss Nathan (Oscar Isaac) in his super remote home somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Here is supposed to evaluate one of his boss‘ inventions, an artificial intelligence by the name of Ava. 2015 is apparently the year of robots reaching a level of artificial intelligence that compromises humanity‘s health and security. In Chappie the robot was most definitely good even though a somewhat miss lead by the people influencing him during his formative phase. For Age of Ultron it is clear from the trailer that a main villain a sentient toaster turns against his makers and the rest of the world. In this movie the circumstances are somewhat more complicated. Ava (Alicia Vikander), one of Nathan‘s creations just wants to live and will do what is necessary to do so. There were so many possible points in this movie where it could have gone wrong and every time when it didn‘t I was positively surprised. Another plus was the stunning nature and architecture. It was visually as well as narratively quite pleasing. Did not expect that and thoroughly enjoyed it.
