It is often said that Spring is the season of love. It is also all spring if you want to walk outside in public. Stress often referred as the season of life and rebirth. An achieved con-man struggles to finish his last big job because he is emotionally compromised by a „femme fatale“/ex-girlfriend/totally-unpredictable-rom com-plot from his past. This movie is trying so hard to be suave, it hurts. It‘s like watching Oceans Eleven, The Devil wears Prada and your go-to romantic comedy ending up in a freak accident and thereafter being put back together horribly by Dr. Frankenstein himself.

Not even half way through I got so bored I started looking up cupcake recipes. Con-movies are usually something very enjoyable and fun but since they have been done so much in the past decade it has become rather difficult for filmmakers to actually find an interesting hook and a story worth telling. Neither of which was in any way done successfully in the making of Focus. The name of the movie on the other hand is exactly what you have to keep telling yourself when watching it: FOCUS, or you most certainly will fall asleep.

The movie gets one brownie point for the choice of two rather attractive lead characters who should really try to get better roles in the future or just read the damn script before you sign the contract. Geez.
