EXCHANGE VIEW I am back in Carlow and I‘m ready for my second semester as an exchange student. To be completely honest, coming back wasn’t easy at all. I spent my Christmas holiday with my family back in Finland. There wasn‘t that much communication in English, even if Pieksämäki is such a multicultural metropolis, so when I came back to Ireland, the language was kind of a shocker. It took some time to get a hold on English again. This meant that during first few days I was just smiling and nodding to everything. This time I knew what was waiting for me, which made packing surprisingly more difficult. There was more stress to pack the candies that you don‘t get here, some Finnish bread and chewing gum with xylitol. Also you needed to think what you won‘t be needing here, keeping in mind that you also need to bring all of the stuff back to Finland in May. In September I was just randomly packing stuff I thought I wouldn’t get here in Ireland. The hardest part of coming back was knowing that half of the students from the last semester are not coming back. You actually need to feel an effort to get to know new people and I think it is harder now that you‘re not new anymore. Every group has strong clicks as everyone knows almost everyone. However, many great people are still here, Ireland is still looking green and beautiful and even the schools seems to be still interesting. I think it is quite normal to feel down in the beginning, because you usually feel a bit blue when you need to get back to work or school anyway. It is just very important to remind yourself why you chose to do whatever you do. I still have four months left to travel in Ireland, meet new people and eat many full Irish breakfasts. MOVIE REVIEW

THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES(2014) / Director: Peter Jackson / Genre: Adventure|Fantasy / Starring: Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman / Rating: Long expected and greately wanted, the last Hobbit finally came to the cinemas to give us the ending of the grand adventure story of Bilbo Baggins.

This third movie starts off exactly where the second one ended. The dragon is out, killing people and destroying the town and the dwarves are out for their mountain, gold and the arkenstone. It is both less and more exciting than the previous ones. Filled with all kinds of things that don‘t really belong there(if you‘re a book fan), but still keeping it relatively interesting, the story moved along a little bit too slowly and focused on too many things and tried to explain everything all at once.

The most amazing part of the entire thing,is the dragon, deadly and beautiful, flying in all its glory...and then falling in all its glory. And,naturally, the giant battle scene. If there is something that Peter Jackson knows how to do, its battle scenes. Both exciting and scary, they keep you on the very edge of your seat and keeps you wanting more. Bilbo is back at Bag End, lives moves on. For all you Hobbit/LOTR fans out there, are we happy that its over?
