FASHION

2020 fall fashion essentials Fall is the season of colors; it is that time of the year when leaves turn from bright yellow to dark orange. This time of the year you can dress comfortably without needing to put many layers of clothes. A nice turtleneck sweater, comfortable jeans, and dark (because you do not want to ruin your white shoes) boots and you are ready to head out. When you are back from your duties, it is time to put your oversized sweater and relax with your tea on your sofa. Colors such as Dark red, olive green, and different shades of blue are the perfect fit for fall. There are many fall fashion essentials to choose from but here are a few that you should have. A long coat Everyone should have at least one long coat on their wardrobe. Long coats are a perfect fit for fall since they are not too thick and can be worn

even in warm fall days. You can be versatile with your style, but turtleneck shirts fit best with long coats. Sneakers worn with long coats is currently the most trending look since it is very casual and classy at the same time. A nice pair of boots look great with long coats too. "Fragments"- series of paintings

A turtleneck shirt Turtleneck shirts will keep you warm and cozy feeling. They are versatile and can be worn with different outfits. If you want to wear them often, remember to buy them in neutral colors such as black or beige. These shirts go well with big earrings and if you want to add extra warmth on those cold fall days, wrap your neck in a scarf. A red lipstick A bright or more toned red lipstick will look good on anyone during the colorful season of fall. Add red lipstick to your more neutral-colored clothes and you will instantly look more fashionable. There are many shades of red to choose from. Nyx cosmetics or essence cosmetics have student-friendly and affordable red lipsticks. Boots Boots are trending every fall and for a reason. They are often comfortable and go with almost any outfit. Boots are warm and some are waterresistant, so you don't have to worry about them getting wet during rainy days. You can choose from leather (which is great for winter too) to canvas. Neutral colors are the safest bet.

KNOW YOURSELF Eating with no hunger: disaster of 21 century

It is not a secret that the impact of food is enormous to our life's quality. The products, that we choose every day, influence not only on, how we are looking alike, but also on our mental health and even the level of feeling pleased with life. Now I will ask you one question and you will understand, what I am talking about. Were there any days or any occasions, when you were unhappy and decided to eat something sweet to feel more satisfied and relax? If not, you are lucky! But if this is a normal situation for you, do not worry and try to understand, why this is happening again and again. What is it? In psychology, it is called Emotional eating. Emotional eating is eating when you are not feeling physical hunger and there is no real need for a new meal. You are using food for solving emotional or psychological problems. At the moment, you are feeling happier but it makes you feel worse because of overeating and realizing that the problem is still existing and disturbing you.

so the pattern to behave in this way is extremely lasting. What to do? To be honest, there is only one good way- go to the psychologist and talk about this problem. If you realize that overeating is something new for you, you could try to find out, why this is happening independently. Take a piece of paper or open notes on your phone and try to write down all the situations, after which you want to eat. What were you expecting to feel? What has gone wrong? Are there any better solutions instead of emotional eating? Always keep in mind that the food will give you happiness only for a limited time. Eating is not the answer. The answer is in solving the problem, which is hidden behind.

Why does this happen? A medical explanation of this phenomenon is that the food that is full of sugar or simple carbohydrates (mostly people prefer sweets and junk in case of emotional eating) is providing power and feeling better for a short period. The action of sugar and simple carbohydrates is not forever, and in one moment you will understand that life is much worse than was (because the action of those two has already ended). There is no one answer or solution to this problem, which will fit everybody because the disaster (nearly in all cases) is deep inside you. Some people are emotionally overeating for a huge amount of time

RECIPE

Tips for learning new languages

During the pandemic, and just in everyday life, it is very important to take care of your health. Today I am going to share with you a recipe for one "detox soup". Why it is good for your health? • As detox soups are usually vegetable-based, they help the person to feel fuller and to consume fewer calories throughout the day, so this soup will be useful if you want to keep a good shape. • Also, one of the advantages of such soups is the presence of vegetable fiber because it supports the microflora in our intestines and thus strengthens the immune system. • Fiber also plays a core role in removing toxins from the body. Ingredients: (all proportions will be in the instructions below) any kind of pumpkin ( I took butternut squash) • broccoli • cream (10-20%) • flour • an onion • a carrot • olive oil • herbs to taste • dried tomato • sesame seeds Instructions: 1. You should peel the pumpkin (1-3th photos), cut it into pieces ( 4th photo), and put it in a saucepan. The pumpkins should be just over half of your pot. (approx. 3/4). 2. Add split broccoli into the saucepan (nearly 1/4 of the pot) to pumpkin, then fill completely it with water, and put vegetables to boil. 3. When they boil you should wait about 10 minutes, then pierce with a fork to make sure if the vegetables are tender, and after that turn fire/ stove off. 4. And at the same time, you peel the onion and carrot, add grated carrot and finely chopped onion into a pan, also, add a tablespoon of olive oil (fry it all until golden brown). 5. Add fried carrot & onion to boiled broccoli and pumpkin, then blend them until puree condition. 6. Take a pot, add a tablespoon of flour there, fry flour until golden brown, then rapidly add 50 milliliters of water ( you should whisker it so that there will be no "lumps") After that, add into same pot cream (150 or 200 milliliters, it depends on the amount of puree, so reduce it if you need to), then add this mixture into the saucepan with a puree of the vegetables. Bring this new mixture to a boil and then turn it off. 7. Add the last ingredients: any herbs, dried tomato, and sesame seeds. The soup is ready p.s when serving, you can decorate with crackers or with pumpkin seeds. Enjoy your meal! 8

TIPS/TRICKS

Productivity tools

Four productivity tools that university students should be using during their studies. At some point, we all get lost and get messy during our studies. You don’t feel that you’re productive and organized anymore. Nevertheless, some productivity tools may be your rescue in your educational journeys. Thus, here are some of the most recommended tools that you can comfortably handle. 1)

Note-taking apps

Some of you still like to use a pen and paper to take notes, which is the normal thing to do. It’s okay to do so, but moving to a digital system is highly recommended because you store many years of notes and school materials without using extra space. - Notability app (Mac and IOS only): it’s handy for handwritten notes. You can use it to write on top of your course. However, you need a digital pen to make your use easier because it is not convenient to use your finger to write on your tablet. - Evernote app: if you don’t like to use a digital pen or don’t have a tablet, you can go for the Evernote app. 2)

Pomodoro technique

Pomodoro means tomato in Italian. Yes, like tomato, real tomato. The question here is: how are tomatoes related to productivity? This technique was invented by an Italian student who challenged to break his work down into short sessions and stay focused until the timer rings. And guess what? The timer was tomato-shaped. Basically, this is how it works: Step one: Choose a task. Step two: Set a timer to 25 minutes. Step three: Work on the task until your timer rings. Step four: Take a short 5 minutes break. Step five: Take a more extended break after 4 Pomodoros (15-30 min). Step six: Take time to celebrate your achievement. 3)

4)

Video conferencing tools

Considering the world’s current situation and the fact that most universities are doing and might continue doing, students should learn video conferencing tools such as TEAMS. You can check a tutorial on youtube if you want to explore it fully. TEAMS nowadays is used for teaching professional meetings and even job interviews. Thus, you better learn how to use it because it’s a long-term investment.

Microsoft 365 vs. Google Suite

On the one hand, most Finnish universities provide

10

students with a free version of Microsoft 365, and even a majority of Finnish companies utilize them. So, it’s an advantage for you since you will get time to practice your Microsoft skills. On the other hand, Google Suite is more straightforward and more apparent because Microsoft tools tend to be sometimes complicated to use. However, both are excellent and provide almost the same products, noting that you start paying for Microsoft 365 after graduation, while Google Suite is always for free usage.

MOVIE Aalto Director: Virpi Suutari Producers: Timo Vierimaa, Virpi Suutari and Martti Suosalo. Aalto was a documentary about Alvar Aalto’s work. Aalto is one of Finland’s most famous designers of all time. He is also known worldwide, and you can see his work around the world for example in America. The documentary tells you mostly about Alvars career with his wife Aino Aalto. We get closer to the Aalto’s personal life’s with love letters they sent to each other over the years. The movie really captured how together they were more powerful than without each other. The movie tells you what was Alvars biggest inspirations, and how he got to the visual solutions he gets. If you have never seen his work, I would highly recommend getting to know it, or at least try to see this movie. The movie beautifully shows famous buildings and describes them. I would recommend the movie if you want to learn about Finnish history a bit more and about one of its best designers. IMDb has a score of a 7.8 for this movie and I agree with it. It is truly an excellent movie to see.
