EDITORIAL There is no such thing as not having enough time. There’s only what you make as priority. You make the time for what you want, you make the time for the people you want to be around. Sometimes you need to make sacrifices for things you want to have in your life, you must make that thing your priority. If it’s not a priority you won’t work for it. Learn to say no to things you don’t care about, otherwise you´re going to do it in half light. I don’t know about you, but I have made a list about things I want to achieve and made them my priority. I find time for things that I’m really interested in. If I don’t feel any interest on it, I don’t do it.

hobbies in Kouvola. In this topic Maria serves as our guide to find you a new hobby. Do you know the benefits of walking outdoors? Don’t worry Vlada will talk more about it. I have written an article about the origin of Black Friday and I have reflected on its impact. And we have some good news for peoples who are into game design! Stay safe and follow Covid-19 restrictions. See our Hygiene Instruction for theoretical instruction.

Here’s some questions for you to reflect on: • Do you know how to manage your time? • Are you too lazy to take action? • Do you leave everything to the last minute? • I used to be poor with time management and at the end of the day I couldn’t tell where that bloody time went. I learned how to make sacrifices. I will return to this topic later; I will open up the means by which I developed myself to be effective. For now, I’ll give you an idea of the main topics of this week. You’ll find a tasty Russian beet salad with Herring (Shuba) recipe by Lidiia. You’ll also find an article by Ikram on the Duolingo review. If you don’t have Duolingo on your phone, please go to Appstore and download it. The best app of the century. In the film review category, you’ll find an article by Ave-Liis talking about a comedy horror film. The film is about a teenager who accidentally switches bodies with a middle-aged serial killer. So creepy. You’ll also find an article by Marian about funny

Duolingo

REVIEW Let me tell you more about the application features. On Duolingo, most questions have a comment thread where learners can discuss a particular topic in detail. The application also has community sections that allow you to connect with other "Fragments"- series of people who are learning the same language. paintings

Duolingo application offers a skill tree of lessons that use listening exercises, flashcards, and multiple-choice questions to teach you new vocabulary, sentences, and grammar. When you complete a lesson, you will pass to the next and a higher level. You should keep on doing the exercises until you finish the whole tree. In the end, Duolingo gives you a trophy.

Today, I’m writing about one of the best language learning applications in the world. I discovered this application a couple of years ago when I wanted to learn the German language. It was a life saving for me back then because I struggled with the Genitive and the Dative cases in the German language.

It’s a good thing in a language learning application because not all of the applications provide you with this service for free. Duolingo offers many other languages than Finnish and German, always for free.

After years of usage for learning German and Turkish, I was confident to use it for learning Finnish. Fortunately, a few months ago, Duolingo added the FINNISH language to its language offered. Duolingo has an application and a website. The website is a more extended version that offers you detailed explained lessons. And what I really adore about this app is that you can use it for free and you can have access to it all the time and learn the language on the bus, going to school, in your free time. In other words, you can use it whenever and wherever you are. 4

BLACK FRIDAY

Black Friday is here again, consumerism ahoy! Price comparison service Hintavertailupalvelu conducted a survey about consuming on Black Friday. According to a survey conducted in 2019, all Finns (95.3%) know what a Black Friday is, and a large proportion of consumers plan to shop (62.6%). How many of them knows the origin of Black Friday (BF)? Do you know the history of BF? Honestly, I knew nothing about its history until I delved into the subject for this article. I'm a little ashamed because I'm usually aware of many things. If you've read so far then you probably want to read to the end, so you know where this bf comes from. Hold on to something because now we’re digging deep. There are thousands of stories about the origins of the Black Friday. One explanation for the name Black Friday is the method used in accounting to record capital gains in black, and losses in red. But it can't be the only reason, right? There is a dark story behind BF’s history. Here, I think is a plausible story that has been repeated from various reliable sources. As you might know Black Friday is not invented by the Chinese, the Americans are behind the phenomenon. The name Black Friday was used to describe chaos by the police forces in late 1950 that ensued on the day after Thanksgiving. The city of Philadelphia was the first to use the term Black Friday. There was once a year a football match between the Army and the Marine troops, which drew wild crowds and tourists to the city. At that time, road transport was not as advanced as it is today. Due to poor road design,

there was congestion which sometimes caused riots. This was a great opportunity for criminal gangs to steal shops, because the police forces were overworked guiding people, as well as keeping some sort of order. This gave rise to the idea to keep shops open that day, so that tourists can go shopping at discounted prices. As the name Black Friday had a really bad reputation, shop owners tried to improve it by giving people some discounts if they shop. On this single day, the shops made as much profit as they would make in the whole year. Later on, this landed all over America and eventually to the rest of the world. That’s about it for that story. From now on, you know a little about BF origin. Black Friday has changed terribly, and it is leading us to destruction. Do you think the way we consume is insane? I do. Overproduction and overconsumption don’t only have a negative impact on the environment, as natural resources are overly abused, but as well on the people who make our clothes. The fashion industry has needed to slow down and rethink itself for a long time. As the way it is now, is not sustainable for our planet. “If you need to buy something on this day focus on quality rather than quantity. And remember to ask yourself, do I really need this?” (NuarSwim). Written by Merveille Bivu Ndonga

TRAVELING

Trip to Lappeenranta

I would recommend to take warm clothes on and get ready for an outdoor day. The best plan is to visit the fortress staright after arriving to the train station (walk to it trough the city center and old town hall), then go to the pier and turn right. You can enjoy walking on the embankment along the whole city, which would be up on the hill. Your finally destination will be a lake. There should be funny ducks, so you can take some food to feed them. After a long walk nothing is better than turning back to the city center and having a dinner in a local cafe. Best time to turn back is after 5-6 hours from arrival, of course if you don’t have there any friends or important affairs.

Lappeenranta is a small town in a southestern Finland, which is located near Saimaa lake. It's not the biggest and the most interesting place to visit in Finland but good alternative for a one-day trip, if you are exhausted of Kuovola or just wanted to feel on the road.

One-day trip is always a good decision for those, who are tired of routine and urgently needed new emotions.

Train tikets with the student discount were only 14 euros and time in train was less then an hour. It was a sunny day, so I felt in love with the view from the window. Small houses, forest with big spruces and firs, which were slightly dusted with snow. Amazing. First thing, that has surprised me, was architecture and structure of the city. It looks more like a small European village with tiny city center, nice embankment and old houses. Looks like people there are just enjoying their life and are completely satisfied with everything. What I liked most, was the atmosphere in the evening, because of Christmas decorations in the centre and in private sector. If you are interested in travelling to Lappeenranta, 8

More than a month has passed since I moved to Finland. It amazed me how some of my habits changed in a short time, one of them is walking in the fresh air. I began to do it more often.

MOVIE Freaky Director: Christopher Landon Leading cast: Vince Vaugh, Kathryn Newton, Katie Finneran, Celeste O’Connor, Misha Osherovich, Alan Ruck Freaky is a comedy horror film. The film is a bout a teenager who accidentally switches bodies with a middle-aged serial killer. So, the movie starts with the killing of four teenager by Blissfield Butcher. Then the killer steals an ancient dagger known as La Dola. The main character Millie gets stabbed with the dagger after a school football game when she is waiting for her ride. When Millie gets stabbed the killer gets the same wound. The next day they notice they have switched bodies. The Butcher as Millie continues killing people at the school while Millie as the Butcher tries to convince her friends to believe she is in the Butchers body. They then find out how to switch the bodies back. After they switch back the butcher fakes his death in the ambulance to attack Millie in her own house. How will the murder fest end? I would say if you liked the Scary Movies, you would like this movie. In many ways I find these movies similar, but this one still has something fresh. There were some funny moments in there, but still a lot of it I didn’t find that funny. I would give this movie a 6/10 just purely since this kind of movie has been kind of seen before and because I didn’t find many parts of it funny. I would love to hear other opinions on this movie, so I hope you will go and see it!
