Are you the one that keep skipping editorial? Don’t be that person, even after reading my writing you might get bored of me. My name is Hoa Hong Truong and lately I have been one of Insider’s staffs, I like people calling my full original name, and when people give up of my difficult language, I told them they can call me Rosie. But that’s quite enough about me. In my writing today I want you to focus on this magazine’s contents only, like I did before becoming a staff, because there are many reasons for you to do so. If you are home, alone, enjoying a cup of hot tea and wondering what kind of music that should be dancing in the air of the room, check out our “Music” section and make sure that you are catching up with the world’s music industry. Or you are trying to impress your special someone, let warm his/her heart through special

dishes, that is when you flip over the pages and stop right at the “Recipe” section. Being in the kitchen on a snowy day can light up your house, make your room a cozy nest that smells like Master chef kitchen. Maybe… on your date you have no reason on how should it be where should you take your date, movies have never been a bad idea, that is one reason for our “Movie” part to be born, the newest movies that are on theater should be on the pages of Insider magazine too. And of course, despite all of those reasons, you are a teacher, a student, a staff in Kyamk that are simply catching up with information around the school. You won’t miss one single thing after reading Insider I promise, the only thing that you miss will be the events that you did not have a chance to attended, but have been written in Insider. Have fun keep reading from here, again, my name is Rosie.

Where to go on internship?

The United States is a country for students to have an internship. There is much more choices available. Sometimes there is charge for having a working place in a big company like Disney or Google. Going to the USA is possible through ‘Work and Travel’ program, which provides a job (paid or unpaid), a visa, and opportunity to travel around the country during the summer. By the way, ‘Work and Travel’ operates in many countries. Russia is having internships for students. The Russian language might have been required as well as visa to enter the country. In Russia there are vacancies related to translation or the teaching of the language as a native speaker. The world is big enough to have a working places. I wish you luck.

Want a job with payment? And still can’t give up travelling? Abroad internship is the best opportunity of the year. My friend from Germany is going to Tokyo this year, my Insider colleague was on Rhodes (Greece) this summer, and all of them recommend going abroad with no doubts. European Union countries are the closest places to go from Finland. There is a majority of offerings for students. United Kingdom opens its doors widely. Vacancies in worldwide hotels like Hilton are available. The necessary thing is permission to work in Great Britain if you are a non-European Union citizen. The other country possible is Malta. There is a lot of choice for students from secretary to translator or IT-administrator. There are no special requirements.

Text: Ekaterina Volkova| Photo: Ekaterina Volkova Spain is fascinating place to go as well. Sea, sun, and a lot of things to explore. There are mostly hospitality management vacancies as tourism is developed highly in this country. The possible choices are guide-vacancies and receptionists. Some students find public-relations places. Portugal as well as Spain offers job places for non-residents. There are similar vacancies in hotel industry available.

New international partner university for Kyamk University of Management”TISBI” (www.tisbi.ru) and Kyamk signed an agreement of co-operation on 14.10.2015 in Kazan, Tatarstan. This agreement opens study exchange possibilities for our students in the private university in Kazan, which is only 2.5 hours flight away from Helsinki, east from Moscow. (Be prepared to stay awake all the night as Finnair has direct night flights.)

From the students’ point of view it is interesting to know that the students have a dress code. Every day they need to dress professionally, no jeans are allowed. This is to prepare them for the business life, so that when the time comes, they feel comfortable in the real environment, stated Mr Sergei Filimonov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.

Besides being famous for high league KHL hockey, the town also hosts a historical UNESCO site Kazan Kremlin dating back to the 16th century. Today approximately 1.5 million inhabitants live in this beautiful and architecturally interesting city.

In addition to the dress code, the students need to change their outdoor shoes to indoor shoes. This makes the uni spotless. A delegation from TISBI is going to visit Kouvola before Christmas to continue discussions on the details of the future co-operation. This could include research co-operation and double degrees.

The University of Management, founded in 1992, has 9000 students, part of whom also study in English. According to the webpage the uni have a sound reputation having won nine consecutive years in the competition” 100 best universities in Russia”.

The journey of a social with a car or a bicycle or while holding an “I am free” banner. The aim is to raise awareness through an e-catalog with more than a thousand photos.

Momal Mushtaq is a sweet and humorous lady. That was my impression when I first met her at the Freshmen Party at KyAMK. Momal is a Pakistani who is studying her master degree at South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in Soest, Germany. Now she is on an exchange period to KyAMK. I am so glad that I have chances to work with her here at KyAMK because as I get to know her more and more, I have realized that she is more than just humorous and nice, she is original and initiative. Her works in development and media communications, with focus on youth and gender equality, is recognized by global awards. She revealed me an enthusiastic story of her journey.

The Voice of Youth

Having seen the effects of violence on a first-hand basis and messages of hate it can bring to youth, Momal founded The Voice of Youth, an award-winning youth network spread across 151 countries of the world. It aims to cultivate relations with youth belonging to different strata of life, providing all with a platform to freely pursue their individuality for collective progression.

The Freedom Traveler

Typing her name in Google Search, I was not surprised to find out that she is a famous freelance writer, women’s right activist and social entrepreneur. One of her most well-known project is The Freedom Traveler (TFT). It is an online platform which aims to encourage women to travel the world, especially those who come from countries where women’s travelling is severely limited. On TFT, women of all nationalities and beliefs could actively network, share knowledge and resources, and map their experiences during their travels. The project has received more than 13 000 supporters on Facebook, 550 followers on Twitter and 450 followers on Instagram. The Freedom Traveler also receive great official recognition worldwide with numerous award including CIVICUS Nelson Mandela–Graça Machel Innovation Award in 2014.

She shared with me one memorable story she had with The Voice of Youth: “I travelled outside Pakistan for the first time in my life in November 2011 to attend the World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) Festival in Austria where the Voice of Youth received a UN-affiliated award. That was literally a life-changing experience for me. You know the rest of the story.” The rest of the story was actually the founding of The Freedom Traveler.

The Abroaders – right here at KyAMK

Momal, who has experienced herself how travelling abroad can change one’s life and perspective for good, decide to, once more, becoming the ambassador to spread the passion for travelling at KyAMK. She, along with seven other KyAMK students, come up with the idea of launching another non-profit organization called The Abroaders. The Abroaders aims to help students at KyAMK find opportunities to go abroad on short term activities for educational purpose. For examples, those activities can be a summer camp, a competition, a fair or a conference and so on… More importantly, The Abroaders also trying to form partnership with other organisations and institutions worldwide with a view to sending KyAMK students on abroad trip with the grants that can cover most of their expenses. The Abroaders are scheduled to launch themselves at the beginning of December with an offline event and a Facebook page to bring their campaigns and updates closer to the students. They also have an official WordPress page which is opened for registered students to get access to 101+ opportunities to go abroad.

Momal was also featured by TEDx (independently organized TED event) to share her story about why she set up the Freedom Traveler. Female Pakistani seldom leave their home. There’s no law restricting free mobility of women in Pakistan, but the harassment that they face on streets or while taking public transportation has limited their movement. Momal could not stand that situation anymore. She knew that she must fight for women’s right of mobility, for her right of mobility. She launched TFT feeling that if women read about other women being courageous enough to travel alone in their countries or across borders, they would be encouraged to follow suit. She desired to help other women know how it feels to be free. As whe shared on TFT webpage: “Freedom is an abstract quality that mature minds acknowledge exists. It is something you can talk, write, or think about, but if you have not actually experienced it, you cannot feel her essence.“

entrepreneur. Interview with Momal Mushtaq Where do you usually get inspiration from?

“This too shall pass”. That’s my favourite slogan. My favourite quotes:

When I am not travelling, I love to watch TED talks and read self-development books. A lot of people find it embarrassing to admit that they read such books; don‘t be one of those people. Just a few pages a day can make all the difference in how you see yourself and the world around you. You begin to interpret yourself and the world around you more positively. You are inspired to improve and be the change you wish to see in the world. My favourite TED talks include:

What would you do if you weren‘t afraid? ― Sheryl Sandberg (Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead ) Write your own stories and create your own media about powerful women in non-traditional roles. — Miss Representation

What do you like most about Kyamk and Kouvola?

Brené Brown: The power of vulnerability Sheryl Sandberg: Why we have too few women leaders Simon Sinek: How great leaders inspire action Carol Dweck: The power of believing that you can improve

What is your favourite leisure activity beside traveling and setting up organisations?

I am still learning how to pronounce “Kymenlaakson ammattikorkeakoulu”. Hopefully by the end of my exchange period, I will be able to do so. What I love about Kyamk? The access tags, active on-campus student body in terms of extracurricular activities, Amica and its student friendly meal pricing, Patteri entrepreneurship society and the supportive International office.

I don’t set up organizations. It is more like: When I believe in something, I am not scared of taking action. I believe it is very important to find that courage to take that first step, because according to a famous Chinese quotation, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Kouvola? Its proximity to Helsinki, supermarket opening hours (Almost everything shuts down at 6 p.m. in Germany), the nature, and the possibility of witnessing the Northern lights for the first time in my life.

Can you tell us about your favourite book, movie or TV show? The Power of Habit, The Power of Now and Lean In are some of my favourite books.. My favourites movies include Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, The Pursuit of Happyness, The Blind Side, The Help and 127 hours, which are also considered the most inspirational movies of all time. No TV show in particular, but I am inspired by Mindy Lahiri; an Indian-American girl who became one of the most powerful women in TV with her show, “The Mindy Project”. In her own words, “I always get asked, ‘Where do you get your confidence?’ I think people are well meaning, but it’s pretty insulting. Because what it means to me is, ‘You, Mindy Kaling, have all the trappings of a very marginalized person. You’re not skinny, you’re not white, you’re a woman. Why on earth would you feel like you’re worth anything?’”

Do you have a favourite quote or slogan? Whenever I am experiencing a low moment, I like to remind myself: –6–

BAKING-FREE CHEESECAKE Coffe

Ingredience for the crust: 1 cup grounded cookies 1.5 tablespoon melted and unsalted butter 1.5 tablespoon sugar A teeny-tiny amount ground cinnamon Oil cooking spray for pan (I only used the baking paper and put some melted butter on it) Ingredience for the cheesy part: 1 cup sour cream 2/3 cup sugar 1 and another 1/2 cup cream cheese 1 cup heavy cream 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Sour and sweet berry sauce for the topping (It can be made from any kind of berries)

Tools: Springform pan (the baking pan which its cover-around part can be removed) Mixer (If you are confident with your physical strength, then it’s not needed)

How to do it: Fill the pan with baking paper and put some melted butter on it. Mix all the ingredients for the crust together and press the mixture firmly to the bottom of the pan. Then, put it in the refrigerator for at least 45 minutes and we are done with the crust. Mix sour cream, cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla extract by the mixer with medium speed until the texture is smooth. On the other hand, whisk the heavy cream with 1/2 cup sugar. Put the mixtures from step 2 and 3 together and fill it in the pan with crust we made in step 1. Put it back to the refrigerator and wait for 2 hours. (2 hours later). Finally! Put the berry sauce on the top of the cake and serve yourself the wonderful cheesecake with crunchy, cheesy, sweet and little bit sour easy-to-make cheesecake. Hope you will make one for yourself now. But in case you won’t, lemon cheesecake in Lidl will be there waiting for you. But of course, the homemade cheesecakes are the best. Take a rest day or the rest day takes you.

As you have been reading over the last few weeks, we have been keeping a fitness diary, instead of telling how much pain am do be in. Instead am going to tell you what sort of program I have to do, I have said before that I go about 4 times a week to the gym and I have leg and arm days, here a few thing that I do every week. Somethings I have added more weight to it but more I have kept the weight about the same and increased the amount I do. Some of things I do 3x10 so that means 3 set of 10 now I have increased that to 15 or 20 instead, still 3 set but now more with only a small increase of weight. If I eat something fatty I will do an extra set to make up for the fatty food I had that day or the day before, and I still cannot eat 5 meal a day I don’t know how it can be done. As I said in the last diary entry I have lost a bit of around my belly which is great, now all I need to do is lose a little bit more and I will be happier. On the 5.12 funfit is having a 90´s Chtristmas theme party tickets 15€ for more information contact info@funfit.org

It has been well over two weeks now of me going to the gym almost daily and while I do feel like there some results finally taking effect the weather also served me a gigantic bummer when it comes to figuring out whether or not I‘m getting any closer to one of my ultimate goals: run 10km in under 45min. Seriously though, every time I‘m ready and dressed to go for a run outside (mainly because I‘m still too terrified of the treadmill) it starts raining. WHY? Anyhow I thought I‘d share a small excerpt from the routine that Niina gave me on the first day: Day 1: Pectoral 3x12, Chest Press 3x12, Vertical Traction 3x15, Shoulder Press 3x15, Lat Machine 3x15, Total Abdominal 3x15, Rotary Torso 2x2x20, Lower Back 3x15 Upper Back 3x15 To get back to the title of this diary - you should really take rest days every once in awhile plus don‘t stack up on the weights too fast but rather go with more repetitions and don‘t forget to do cardio and Yoga to relax your muscles.

Also a big thanks goes out to Niina for getting us started, giving us our workout schedules and putting us in general. Thank you.

ELLIE GOULDING: DELIRIUM Genre: Electropop Released: November 6, 2015 Producer: Greg Kurstin, Ilya, Max Martin, Ali Payami I don’t really believe in the sentiment that a thing’s popularity is inversely proportional to how good that thing is, but when it comes to the music of Ellie Goulding, my enjoyment of her records seems to be directly related to the sales figures of the particular album. However the album sales have just been correlation rather than causation: I just found myself preferring the folktronica of her first album to the dubstep experimentation she did on her second album, which I in turn preferred to anything she released afterwards. With each release Goulding seems to venture further away from her comfort zone, which wouldn’t be a bad thing at all if it wasn’t so obvious that she’s also more and more out of her depth. Maybe her third full-length studio album Delirium could break the downward spiral? At least initially, it certainly doesn’t seem so. After the dramatic intro piece the listener is treated to “Aftertaste”, a big and dramatic opening number, which encapsulates the album perfectly: the biggest strength is Goulding’s distinct vocals, which manages simultaneously appear stark as steel and fragile as glass; but apart from her literal voice, the song, and to a greater extent the whole album, lacks Goulding’s own voice. Every song on the album sounds like a track by another artist Goulding just happens to feature on. “Keep On Dancin’” features half-arsed, vaguely Middle Eastern elements that must be some sort of cruel mockery of prior collaborator Major Lazer, and the lazy whistle hook slapped on top of it all just makes the song even more of a mess. The verses of “Devotion” sounds like a scrapped Disclosure B-side and the closing track “Scream It Out” has an uncanny resemblance to the weaker tracks on Tove Lo’s debut album, sans all the references to sex and drugs. “Don’t Need Nobody” has an atrocious synth hook which Goulding tries to match with her singing. The atonal synth sound mixed together with Goulding’s nasal delivery forms a combination roughly as appealing as a big toe and a table leg. Then there’s “Lost and Found”, where she tries her best to mask her voice while singing, making a conscious choice to drop the one thing that kept the album from slipping into complete indistinguishability.

Not that the album is completely void of good cuts: for example, the lead single “On My Mind” starts with a 80s-influenced guitar riff and combines it successfully with a modern, jerking electronic beat, creating a juxtaposition that catches the listener off guard. The high point of the album is “Around U”, which in its vivid and ethereal production acts as a bittersweet reminder what she was capable of in her heyday. “Love Me Like You Do” is by no means great, but thanks to the subpar material surrounding it the song manages to shine as one of the better tracks on the record. There is nothing wrong about an artist ‘selling out’, but upon entering the mainstream Goulding stumbles in the shoes too big for her, trips and hits her head on the door frame. The end result is Delirium: instead of bringing her own touch to the mix she settles for aping everyone else, making the end result bland and dull. As such the album is completely devoid of personality, disposable radiowave fodder to fill the time between the ads.

Genre: Adventure, Sci-Fi Director: Francis Lawrence Writer: Peter Craig, Danny Strong Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth Rating: The fourth/second-part-of-the-third-part part of the Hunger Games series. Also the movie that really does make the third/first-part-of-the-third-part part seem like an overly long trailer to this movie but I guess the Capitol, I mean Hollywood, needs to keep the money flowing, right? As I was saying this is the final part. Annoying fan girls all over the world (especially those who haven‘t read the books) will finally know which team is gonna win: Team Bread-Roll or Team Baby-Thor. Well it looked like this movie was really more “All a-board the Team Let‘skill-president-Snow” - until didn‘t. All in all I guess the whole movie was a lot more exciting for someone like me who has not read the books yet at the same time it threw open soon many questions. There were people there who I kinda felt were important to some degree but have never been mentioned before on screen, inventions were used that from watching the previous movies I had no idea existed in this universe but were presented in such a way that very person who already spoiled you with the death of… (Well if you haven‘t heard until now - good for you, and if you have it is still pretty awful) would simply knowingly nod. So while this film was a blast (hahahahaha….. Not funny, I know) it made me want to read the books even more badly than any of the other movies before. Warning for those who are going to watch it: even though you can sense the jump scare from a mile of you will still jump. And last but not least a spoiler: the cat will be fine.
