Hi everyone! I’m a happy Insider journalist, 1st year IB student. Love working with Insider team. Originally, I am Russian fan of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Sooo … don’t blame me for photos with leg behind the head. It’s normal. Adore caviar, vodka, and bears. I’m kidding. To be honest I’m a theorist. So I am good in cooking …theoretically. Insider supports me in expressing my ideas. We spend a lot of time together with each other, and I must say that it’s quite funny. Thanks to Richard ;) and Sara, and everyone. I’m positive about everything new. I think I will ski to the university in
winter. I’ve never broken my legs. Come on! That’s funny. I have a “Before I die …” plan. So after kissing a stranger I will … I don’t know yet… What I want to do is to adopt a child or somehow help to parentless kids. The job of my dream used to be an agent in secret service. Now I am planning to take it seriously and to do some business. But I still have some time to be crazy. Finnally, I live according to Pollyana’s rule “Try to find something good in everything that happens to you”. That’s it. Enjoy your life and the new Insider.

INTERVIEW WITH IVAN LUGOVOY education with really good quality. Now, I can do what I want and stay where I want. So far, studying in Kyamk as well as my job have already opened many chances for me such as working experience, meeting, making friends with the new interesting and talented people in the game industry. Nice! Furthermore, can you tell us about your previous studying in your home country? It happened that I have never had a chance to reach higher education before. After finishing secondary school in Russia, I was recruited to the army and then I just went straight to find a job. Therefore, getting a higher education has been always my burning desire. What about your working experiences? You seem to have quite many things to tell in this topic. I was working for a couple advertising agencies in Moscow, Russia. Basically I started as a designer in a print house and gradually, my specialization is more related to shooting commercials and graphic designs. After 10 years of working in the advertising business, I realized that it does not belong to me and that I would love to draw more. However, when you have already had a family, you just can’t suddenly quit, not that irresponsible. Therefore, I decided to develop my drawing skills by becoming a story boarding artist. At first, it was not easy, since I did not have much time so I have to watch the tutorials on YouTube because of my lack of drawing skill.
An interview with a second-year Russian student specialized in Game Design. Let’s wider your knowledge about the Humans of Kyamk!! How long have you been in Finland? More than a year now. I first came here on 20 August 2014, to be exact. How is your life in Finland so far? Have you experienced any difficulties while living and studying here? Uhm, I think that I have become calmer since Moscow is more hectic than Kouvola and besides, I was working under pressure which I got when receiving projects from the big brands. More notably, the traffic jam in Moscow is also inconvenient and sometimes, it makes people feel tired a bit. Here, in Finland, I think people are more relaxed and everything seems very comfortable for me even though I study and work at the same time. I live in Kotka now, so I use train to travel between Kouvola and Kotka for studying and I enjoy that because I can draw on the train without any problems.
Can you explain more about the story boarding? Of course. Basically, when doing advertising, the main purpose is to convince the customers that the idea you are about to sell them is amazingly good. And pretty often, the customers are not always capable of imagining the idea properly the way it should be. Therefore, it is highly needed have administrators who will give out the graphs and sketches to describe the idea as clearly as possible. I see. It was a really informative conversation for a person like me, who does not have any clues about the design business. Thank you for your time, Ivan! The Insider team wishes you all the best for not only you studying here but also your future career. Enjoy your staying in Finland and don’t forget to watch the weekly Insider magazine!
Another common question, why did you choose to come to Kyamk as well as to Finland? Because this university provides everything I need such as the study is conducted in English and the bachelor degree in Game Design. Besides, Finland is a country which offers free

INSIDER CONFESSIONS that unconfident about myself, never ever again. And one more time, when a bee finds it way to a party and I am so scared of that creature that I had to find my safety place. At the same time a couple was making out in the the hiding place. The bees followed me for no reason and the couple was there too. they though that I spied on them so they yelled at me and stuff, I tried to explain but anw I got out of the party feeling dizzy and then took a taxi home. Later on I had wished that the bee followed someone else except for me. Insects are good kind but no thank you I am done. So does partying and drinking and seeing
So like one time I got to Kuppla party with my favorite backless dress, I decided to not wear my bra. That was my biggest mistake I supposed. I had to use my long hair to cover my boobs and I could not drink properly, I wasn’t feeling comfortable back then. And when a guy approached me and tell me I was beautiful and he wanted to make out and stuff, I was panic and said “ wait a sec I have to go to the WC”. And I stayed there for like half an hour and praying that he got bored or anything then left me. But he didn’t, so I signal my friend to cover my ass so I can just get out of the bar then go home. So stupid I would never go out feeling

Kirsi‘s and Sara‘s Adventures in China part 1 Chinese Cuisine 1 Most of us certainly have tried some kind of Chinese food. However, be aware that Chinese cuisine offers a huge amount of variety and regional differences. It’s about philosophy, beauty and health. It is actually hard to understand the vastness and significance of it without travelling in China. In the following three articles Kirsi and Sara will reveal their absolute favourites found during their teacher exchange in Jinhua and Shanghai in March 2015. Hot pot Like fondue, hot pot is one of the most social of dining formats. Not only are you gathered at one table sharing a meal, but you‘re cooking your food together in a shared pot so pick your company carefully. There are many regional versions of hot pot throughout China. What makes one different from another is the broth and the specific meats and seafood used. We recommend that you do hot pot with Chinese friends who will know the hot pot etiquette. Generally, it is good to know the best order and what ingredients to cook together in the hot pot.
Tofu Tofu is like cheese in China. It is made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks. There are soft, firm, frozen, crispy, smelly and sweet and all kinds of tofus available. It can be marinated, seasoned, stirred, cooked, grilled and anything else. The soup in the attached photo was sold in Jinhua food market for less than 80 cents. You could choose salty or sweet version and to be honest, both were extremely delicious.

Frogs One of the most exotic experiences during our trip was eating frogs. They taste almost like chicken so there’s really nothing to worry about. Again, there are many sizes of frogs available in the local supermarkets for various purposes.
Our partner university in Jinhua is located only about 300 kilometres southwest from Shanghai but the food culture is somewhat different. Kirsi’s and Sara’s advice is to bravely try new food while abroad even though it would look somewhat suspicious. Don’t miss the chance to find some new favourite dishes! INTRODUCTION TO MIKKELI
Hello, my name is Daria and this is my first publication here. I am study in Mikkeli UAS for and ones upon the time I found a good-looking magazine in library. I was named Insider and I was curious how to be part of it. I am so happy to be in the crew now :) But stop, Mikkeli? Insider is KYAMK student magazine! Well, since 2011 MAMK and KYAMK are united network of universities and on 2012 the original shareholders of these universities established a new company, Kaakkois-Suomen Ammattikorkeakoulun Oy (South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Ltd.) - Xamk and these UASes are jointly committed to exploring the possibility of merging into single UAS by 2016… So let me tell you about Mikkeli and its university. MAMK is comparatively small university and the cooperation between the staff and the students is quite informal. There are no obstacles to ask help from the teachers :) University lies at the heart of the beautiful Finnish lake district in South-Savo region - out of total 25% of area is covered by water, and Lake Saimaa, the largest lake of Finland and the fourth largest lake of Europe shares its shore in Mikkeli. University of Applied Sciences, it was established in 1992 and already has been ranked as the best university of applied sciences in Finland! Would you like to go for a walk in my university? Here is virtual opportunity!
You can choose from 20 degree programmes, three of which are in English, which are Business Management, Environmental Engineering and Information Technology. There are over 720 new students starting in studies leading to a degree every year, and the total amount of students is about 4500. There are approximately 400 staff members of which 200 are full-time lecturers and about 40 of staff hold a doctoral or licentiate degree. MAMK is also running double degree course for international applicants which are from partner universities. Here, the community of students live together which are from different countries and culture and thus these apartments create a perfect fusion and celebrations even at normal stay time. To think as a explorer and to think as a seeker, this place is perfect to convert your thought into reality. The festival of music, festival of culture, union of students, mutualism between all of us, wild parties with exchange students… I love how flexible, fast growing (grow strong!) and modern MAMK is and really happy to have opportunity to cooperate with Kymenlaakso. Hope you find it positive too!
MAMK has been awarded by the Finnish Ministry of Education for five times because of its international activities. Also, the European Commission has granted MAMK with quality seal that is the quality stamp for education. And the satisfactory rate of students is also high who have graduated from this university and who are in the process to graduate - we are happy to study in MAMK. –8–

LANA DEL REY: HONEYMOON Genre: Dream Pop Released: September 18, 2015 Producer: Lana Del Rey, Rick Nowels, Kieron Menzies Lana Del Rey has always built her image around a concept I like to call ‘The Broken American Dream’. Musically she draws from the female artists of 50s and 60s, and her lyrics often invoke an imagery from the same era: denim jeans, classic cars, white wooden houses, marital unhappiness and drowning your sorrows into Jim Beam. A bittersweet cocktail of Kerouacian decadence and desperation, sprinkled with tiny glimmers of hope. Del Rey’s previous albums have been a great showcase of wasted potential: each record has contained a few beautiful gems surrounded by forgettable background noise. It would seem that if she just took a few years off, locked herself in a remote woodland cabin and really worked on her material, she could create something extraordinary. So naturally I wasn’t exactly thrilled to learn that she did the exact opposite: Honeymoon was released barely a year after her previous album Ultraviolence. Soundwise Honeymoon feels more subdued and sophisticated than her previous records. The album opens with the title track “Honeymoon”, a piano-driven, sombre cinematic ballad about a relationship with a man with a hidden, violently aggressive side. The quiet, ominous violin sweeps accentuate the lyrics, fitting the song perfectly, setting the tone for the rest of the album. The production is reminiscent of Lorde’s 2013 debut record: the instrumentation is very unflashy and gives the spotlight to Del Rey’s beautiful singing voice, which works as the main instrument throughout the album. She has finally stopped the infernal slurred snarling through her nose, showing now her full range and capability instead. The unobtrusive instrumentation consists mainly of simplistic piano, barely-distorted electric guitar and some faint keyboards for ambience. Del Rey’s voice is often layered to create an effect reminiscent of the 60s close-harmony groups; the occasional percussion consists mainly of minimalistic hip-hop influenced machine beats. As a result the music sort of exists in its own timeless vacuum. The low-key production gives the center stage to the songwriting. While the first listen of the album might flow in one ear and out of the other without leaving any noticeable impression due to the subdued nature of the record, the consecutive lis-
tens reveal multiple new layers and hooks. Songs like “Music To Watch Boys To”, “High By The Beach” and “Salvatore” slowly creep into your subconscious, latching their unnoticeable sharp claws into your brain; eventually the inconspicuous background noise becomes an earworm. “Terrence Loves You” throws a curveball and turns into a weird retooling of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”. The album ends with the obligatory Nina Simone cover “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, which doesn’t quite reach the same emotional grip as the last album’s “The Other Woman”, but that’s more due to the difference in the strength of material than in the actual performance. Overall Honeymoon defies all odds and expectations. The album is tightly written, coherent and well-balanced; all the things the previous Lana Del Rey albums failed to achieve despite the much longer time periods it took to release them. Maybe she just works better under stress and strict deadlines. Whatever it is, it has caused Del Rey to make her best album yet.

The Scorch Trials start where The Maze Runner the first one left of, so you need to see the first one to understand who and what is happening in this movies because some things link back to the first one and some flash backs. In this one you see the infection in people, which you only heard about in the first part. Some things are a lot darker and you are sometimes thinking what is happening. It starts out a bit slow for the first 20 minutes and then things start to happen and somethings happen quickly. In parts of the movie you are on the edge of you seat. The special effects are really good the infected are scarryWhat I like about it is that all the main characters are the same and they still don’t trust anyone. One of the main characters are not who you think they are at the beginning, I won’t say who it is no spollers here. Maybe I should add one: His is running and ……….. Hahaha, I won’t do it. You need to see this movie it is not a teen movie like you are thinking, it is a good popcorn movie. You will need to see the first movie before you see this movie. I thought it was great, I did not find much I did not like about the movie except that I now have to wait until next year for third part. Text: Richard McGrath – 10 –
