EDITORIAL November is here The ending of October has been the spookiest time yet. Quite a few have been celebrating Halloween here in the north even tough it´s not the most typical event here. I guess the last time we had a good reason to celebrate was Juhannus so halloween is a fun way to start getting in the partying mood before christmas season really turns on. Enjoying the darkening evenings with good food and atmospheric lighting and having spooky parties with friends is so nice. After such a long time we also experienced those lovely cold late autumn mornings and even got a glimpse of first snow. But I suppose we still need to wait a couple more months for the winter to really start. There is actually a Finnish saying concerning winter that goes like...“a rowan tree cannot carry two loads.”
We will also learn how the world looks like in St. Petersburg and Austria this time of the year. Anna visited St. Petersburg during her holidays and Jasmine will tell her views of studying in different countries after her visit in Austria. There will be yet another interesting student story, about a student from northern Finland who also gives good tips on how to use your time in Xamk more rewardingly. Nowadays the superhero franchise is in a big boom and if you are wondering what tv series to watch next, enjoy reading our article about a series called “The Boys”. We are also holding a competition and the winner will win a high-quality watch strap, a watchgecko pen torch, and a microfibre cleaning cloth. Be sure not to miss this chance!
Anyhow, be careful of the icy roads and avenues! In this week’s issue we will be having some tasty recipes on how to make some delicious stuffed peppers. What would be nicer than to make some healthy yet tasty food alongside studying. Remember to take a moment and charge your batteries.

MotoGP Events in medusa studio As we know, our school is taking part in many events on the region. Lastly, there has been an event in Meduusa studio about the MotoGP event coming up on the summer. There has been a conference for the local entrepreneurs about the business possibilities during the event.

There was a F1 car with real size that people had a chance to try out. It was super good feeling. The voices and the way the car moves felt very real. Only thing, there wasn’t enough students to see the chance to use it. Our member, Muhammet had a chance to use the car and he didn’t want to get out of it. But, there was a long line for it so‌ We met a few entrepreneurs that is willing to work on the MotoGP event. There will be some chances for work and internship there for sure. Keep you ears open for that. It might help. PS: There was some awesome food for the participants in the event. Including awesome waffles.

RECIPE Ingredients: 8-10 pcs. bell pepper 400 g minced meat (any, to taste) 200 g boiled rice 150 g sour cream 150 g tomato paste or ketchup 200 g carrots 200 g onion salt pepper vegetable oil
Cooking steps: 1)Finely chop the onion. 2)Grate the carrots. 3)Fry half the onion in vegetable oil. 4)Add half the carrots and fry. 5)Mix the minced meat and rice. 6)Add the fried carrots and onions. 7)Add Salt, pepper. 8)Mix all 9)Cut off the top of the pepper, remove the seeds. 10)Pepper stuffed with minced meat.
11)Mix sour cream and tomato paste. 12)In a saucepan, mix the remaining onions and carrots. 13)Add sour cream and tomato sauce. 14)Mix all again 15)Put peppers. 16)Pour water so that it reaches the middle of the peppers. 17)Simmer over medium heat, under a lid, for about 40 minutes. 18)Serve with sour cream or with a sauce in which peppers were stewed.

XAMK vs AUSTRIA Differences in studying at XAMK vs Austria One of the main reasons why I chose Finland to be my host country for my exchange semester was that the country is known all over the world for the best education system you can get on this planet. So far, I’ve experienced 2 months of Finnish education and I can already see a lot of differences, but also a few similarities, compared to the education system I am used to. First of all, the grading system was a bit confusing to me as in Austria it’s the complete opposite. Therefore, one is the best grade and five is already failed, there is no zero in our system. For that, I had a good laugh with my Austrian friends showing them my first five proudly. Besides the different grades, there’s also a higher percentage you have to archive in exams in my home university. To pass the exam you need at least 60%, not 50%, which is graded as a four.
work in teams to see different aspects and attitudes towards certain issues, but on the other hand there’s often difficulties with team members and sometimes it’s quite hard to find time to meet as we all have different schedules. But there are also some similarities in Finnish and Austrian education system. Just like in Finland, education is free for Austrian citizens from elementary school until university. Further, you often have to pass a test to get accepted in Austrian universities and those are quite similar to Finnish entrance examinations. Multiple choice, memorization and quick mechanical problem solving are the main focusses on these tests to select appropriate students for various universities. Depending on which university a student chose, the tests can be fairly easy or extremely hard to pass.
Moreover, we do not have as many group projects in my university, maybe in one or two courses. But in Finland, there’s literally none of my courses without any group work. On the one hand, I think it’s good to

SUPERHERO BUSINESS Review of "The Boys" With the huge success of the movies like Avengers: Endgame and other superhero franchises just like it, the entertainment powerhouses like Marvel and DC usually just put forward the stories of our modern-day favourite fictional characters i.e. Superheroes, in such a way that the audience is just shown the vanilla and the good side of it. It might not occur to the majority of the audience that “WHAT IF THERE IS A DIFFERENT SIDE OF THIS STORY….?”. But there are people like Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson to whom these questions occur and thus they decided to make their imagination into a comic called “The Boys”. It was then in 2016 that Seth Rogen along with Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg were inspired by this comic book series and decided to make it into a television series. Therefore, we can say that the Amazon Prime Exclusive “The Boys” is a twisted, dark and horribly funny show that changes the way you think about the heroes and the world in which they are actively present.
Apart from the story, the casting is on-point as all the actors represent their roles pretty good. Even though the show is about superheroes, this one is highly R-rated as there are a lot of f-bombs and gory scenes supporting to develop the theme of the show i.e. keeping reality in check when it comes to humanity. The action and drama sequences are well-shot and do not appear to be repetitive or boring. Therefore, if you like watching something different from the mainstream, then this show is for you as it is a complete package of humour, drama, action and cliff-hangers. Get ready to see how super-HUMANS are. Season 1 is available to be binged on Amazon Prime Videos.
Now, even if you are unaware of the original comic series, it is safe to say that the show starts off fresh into the world where it shows and explains everything from the scratch for the viewers who don’t want to read. The world depicted in the show features how the superheroes struggles to handle their god-like powers and how they dominate in the culture. But it doesn’t stop there as a huge take on how they become involved in the commerce side too as ominous companies like Vought corporation commercial use them to become a billion-dollar company having control in basically everything around. As soon as the viewers think that they have settled in this deviant superhero environment, they realise that it is just a glimpse of what there is to come in this roller-coaster ride of a show.

STUDENTSTORY Hi! I´m Santeri Ounasti I have played Ice hockey for 10 years from 6 till 16 that was my hobby playing video games as well. I went to gymnasium Merikoski high school for 3.5 years. Leadership assistance and languages (Johdon assistenttityÜ ja kielet). I wanted to study something that is jobless. The study program is mostly in English than Finnish. My specialty is in communication and public relations like journalism, writing and a bit of marketing and communication between businesses. It's been nice studying here. I like the courses in English when we study with exchange students. I will graduate next year. I wish to find a job related to my field at Oulu so I can move to my hometown. I was a tutor myself and I suggest others to be tutors too and just try to know different people in different fields, try to participate as many events as u can. If you guys are into gaming follow the gaming page Barracks on facebook. I am part of the organizing a team. At the moment we organize Lan party 2 times a year. There are about 70 computers and we play together. Its 8th annual event and the next one is next spring.
I speak Finnish, English, Swedish. I was born in Rovaniemi but I lived most of my life in Oulu. In 2016 I moved here and started studying here at XAMK. Oulu is about 200km southern than Rovaniemi and is considered as the capital of northern Scandinavia. That is like Winterfell in the game of thrones :) It is windy place no matter where you go the wind just going to blow you to your face. Students that come to study here from abroad complain about the cold here sound funny to me, whether here to me feels warmer than there even though cold its not an issue for me, I love winter. In wintertime in Oulu its like 4 hours of daylight.
