EDITORIAL Good vibes and travel tips in this week's Insider This week, our school is giving us an another privilege. It is the traditional Nordic Business Forum week. It will be held in Helsinki on the 9th and 10th of October. Since the school can not take us all there, we were given the chance to have it live-streamed in our school. You, anyone that is interested, can watch it in the auditorium. There will be many business people to listen to with special guest, George Clooney. I am quite sure we are going to see more women in the auditorium this year.
Do you like chocolate? Prakhar, an Indian friend of ours, will be giving you the recipe for his chocolate brownies. Try it out, I am sure you will love it.
For our issue this week, you can experience the student life in Austuria, Kufstein. An opportunity for our adventurous students. Jasmine is telling her experiences in Kufstein and hoping to help people who are looking for a place to go for next semester.
Nikita has been in the movie theatre this week. Long awaited and with big expectations, the Joker-movie is here and his opinion about it is in Insider.
The sporty one, Liidia, went to an ice hockey game for you that was held in Kouvola this weekend. The Finnish league is actually worth to follow. They are good at it and won the world cup. Sadly, you can't say the same for the football league, but this should do it.

This weekend, there was an event held in Kouvola Centrum where you could buy all the local stuff. Not exactly local from Kouvola, but local people brought them to Kouvola from where they are localy from. Anna was there gathering the information about it for Insider.

13 REASONS WHY You should consider doing your exchange semester in Austria! Austria is my beloved home country and therefore, the place where I study. More specific, I live on the countryside of Salzburg (A city which you might know because it’s were Mozart was born) and I study in a small city called Kufstein, in Tyrol. You might know Tyrol as well, as it’s known for the best skiing regions, awesome cities like Kitzbühel (Hahnenkamm) or Innsbruck and a spectacular landscape.
The alps: When you choose to do your exchange semester in the wintertime to may escape from the dark winter days of Finland, be sure your adventure in Tyrol will be all about skiing (at least it should be!). There are hundreds of nice slopes for advanced skiers and beginners and Austria offers a variety of snow cards to save up on money when skiing. Austrian Christmas markets: Be prepared, that in the middle of November all these lovely Christmas markets appear all over the country. People do love our Christmas markets, and some even visit my region just because of them (You might google “Wolfgangseer Advent”). The Viennese Christmas market is even rated as the most beautiful in Europe. In these lovely markets you’ll get all kind of sweets, food, handcrafted stuff and of course – Glühwein & Punsch, which is the main reason why Austrians love Christmas markets. It consists of wine and herbs like cloves and cinnamon and tastes just like heaven!

the 3rd highest beer consumption in the world, so yes, we love a good night out! We have a lot of traditional events, e.g. Bierzelt (just like Oktoberfest, but smaller, cheaper and more often), Fasching (alias carnival; be prepared to celebrate for a whole month as there are so many events! In some regions even companies stay closed to celebrate on weekdays) A (delicious) beer in Austria costs approximately 3,50€ in a bar, at student events even less! In the shop you can get a solid canned beer for even 0,50€. We are generally open-minded people, so you will most likely get to know a lot of nice people there, which are not only funny, but loyal too! Our education system is actually really good and appreciated all over the world. Austrian desserts: My country’s desserts are officially an UNESCO world heritage (Yes, they’re that good!). Experience the Austrian coffee house
culture with either a piece of Sachertorte, a lovely Kaiserschmarrn, Apfelstrudel or whatever looks good to you! My university: The university of applied sciences in Kufstein offers a huge variety of different courses just like International Business, Real Estate Management or Sports- and Event management. Hiking: The Austrian alps are not only good for skiing, but for hiking as well. As Austrians we love to go hiking in the mountains (mostly in spring and autumn as it’s not too hot and not too cold!). Experience our beautiful country from above and enjoy lovely dishes at the small restaurants up there. But keep in mind, that Austrians greet each other when they meet in the mountains, even if they don’t know each other, as friendliness has such a high value for Austrian people.
Lakes: Of course, my country has not that much lakes to offers as Finland does, but most of our lakes have an excellent water quality and are a real blessing when you need to cool down, as temperatures such as 35 degrees are pretty normal for an Austrian summer.
Prices: As a Finnish citizen you will definitely save up on money as we have way cheaper prices not only for beer, but for rent and food as well. Location: Austria is the perfect location for your exchange semester because it’s the heart of Europe. Which means you can go to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Check Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Slovakia in no matter of time. If you’d like to travel all over Europe during your exchange, Austria is the place to be! Well these are just a few reasons why you should go to Austria for your exchange semester, there’s a lot more I promise! If you’re now planning to go to Austria, especially Kufstein, do not hesitate to ask me for more information!
Austrian culture: Our country is full of culture; Salzburg festivals, music festivals, the city of Vienna, Salzburg or Graz, etc. Public transport: Unlike Finland, we have an excellent public transport system. In fact, you can go from Salzburg to Vienna in only 2,5 hours by train. Furthermore, the bus system in Kufstein is really good, there’s a city bus every 20 minutes but you might not even need it when you live (as most of the exchange students) in the student residence, as it’s really close to university.

ALL TO THE MATCH KooKoo (Kouvola) vs SaiPa (Lappeenranta)

EVENT Market place in Kouvola Last Sunday on the main street of Kouvola it was more crowded and noisier than usual. For a few hours, heart of the Kouvola has become a traditional market place with many souvenir stands and food shops. Since October is a month of nature gifts, buyers could find a huge variety of mushrooms, berries and pickles there. Besides, everyone could enjoy hot coffee, hot dogs and delicious candies. That is why there were not only citizens of Kymenlaakso region, but also many tourists from other countries. Surprisingly, you would not only tasty food there, but also some find souvenirs for your house, handmade clothes and even Christmas decorations! Therefore, sometimes something you are looking for is closer than you suppose. Amazing atmosphere, friendly sellers and huge variety of different goods are waiting for you right in the middle of Kouvola. There is no need to travel somewhere to buy Christmas gifts for your friends & relatives and enjoy taste of “city life”. See you on the Kävelykatu Manski!

STUDENTSTORY Meet Konstantin!
I'm Konstantin, I consider myself as a digital nomad, freelancer or whatever else you would like to call it. I finished high school in Bulgaria and later on continued my studies in Denmark, majoring in Marketing Management for 2 years. During my studies, I still had no clue what I wanted to specialize in until we had to do our practical work. Sending CVs all over the internet to many companies and after many deny and interviews I ended up finding a San Diego start-up company, which makes electric bikes. I was still new to the whole sustainability and eco-friendly concepts, I accepted their internship offer and started my journey in Shanghai, that was in 2017 I think.

RECIPE Chocolate Brownie
There is no denying the fact that everyone loves chocolate brownies. No matter fudgy or cakey, the taste that brownie has to offer can be simply considered heavenly. Even though the supermarkets have a substitute option available as the ready-made brownies for the expensive ones in the bakeries and cafeterias, the taste that a home-made brownie has can never be replaced. Therefore, this student friendly recipe is there to save the day. (FOR 9.3inch/ 23.6cm BAKING PAN) Steps: 1. 2. 3.

Ingredients: • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Generously butter baking pan butter, and set aside. Bring a medium saucepan of water to a simmer. • 5 large eggs, Combine the chocolate and butter, remember to use a heat• 2 teaspoons instant espresso proof bowl. Set this bowl over the simmering water until the (coffee), chocolate mixture has melted. Bake until the edges are dry, but the center is still soft, which will take about 30 minutes. Remove brownie from oven and wait for it to cool.

And here we have yet another take on this iconic Batman villain. No doubt, the most memorable portrayal of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight moved into the most forgettable and somewhat ridiculous Joker by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad. Now, however, we get a standalone movie with Joaquin Phoenix putting on that make-up. Let’s see how well he interacts with Batman… He doesn’t. Yes, this film, although comes from DC and based on comic books, has almost nothing in common with the Jokers you know from other films. This is not like a comic book movie at all. It’s something entirely different – a fully-fledged drama with amazing acting, mediocre plot and great mono- and dialogues. Remember the joke from Deadpool 2, where the titular character asked Cable if the latter was from the DC, just because Brolin’s character was, as Deadpool put it, too dark? Well, only if The Joker was released before DP 2. This is probably the darkest movie produced by the studio. The darkness is mostly psychological. Not only the film is not really colorful but, in addition, you keep feeling that pressure from Phoenix’s character. His inner struggle is what makes this movie stand out. The plot, however, could be better. Many things are easily predictable, other twists were such for the characters but for us they are not really twists since we were explained how this or that works. Also, the movie is probably quite long. It’s not Endgame or Once Upon a time in Hollywood, but you don’t feel that those last three hours. The Joker is shorter but it still feels stretched. All in all, The Joker makes for a compelling movie with really strong acting and camera work. You are recommended to see it if you like dramas and heavy psychological films. If you are looking for a fun comic book movie, this one is not the choice, that I can guarantee. See you in the next one!
