The following information has been developed to address some of the most frequently asked questions regarding code violations, as well as information on community outreach and assistance available to Miramar residents:

LAWN MAINTENANCE • Grass must be mowed regularly and cannot exceed six inches in height. Derelict & Inoperable Motor Vehicles • Wrecked, partially dismantled or otherwise inoperable vehicles may not be stored except in a fully enclosed garage. Inoperable vehicles are subject to towing at owner’s expense and property owners are subject to fines.

PARKING OF VEHICLES • Passenger vehicles can be parked in a driveway, carport or garage. Vehicles may not be parked on lawns.

RECYCLE PAINT PROGRAM • The exterior of residential properties must be painted and kept free of mildew stains, chipping and peeling paint. • The city of Miramar recycles paint collected through the city’s monthly household hazardous waste collection event. The collected paint is re-blended into high quality exterior latex paint available to all Miramar residents. • Applicants must provide two forms of identification for the address where the paint will be used (e.g., driver’s license and utility bill). • Applicants must complete and return a request form. The form is available online at https://www.miramarfl.gov/1325/FREE-Recycled-Paint or by emailing recycle@ miramarfl.org. CONTROLLING MOSQUITOES INFESTATION Mosquitoes breed by laying eggs in and near standing water. They can strive, breed, and multiply in as little as one teaspoon or bottle cap of water standing for more than one week. They can live indoors and will bite any time during the day or night. • Any items stored outdoors that can hold standing water should be removed and properly discarded. Around the exterior of buildings, at least once a week, empty, turn over or cover anything that could hold water. • Some of the breeding ground for mosquitoes are: tires, buckets, toys, untreated water in swimming pools, pool covers, birdbaths, trash, trash containers, recycle bins, boat or car covers, roof gutters, coolers, and pet dishes. • Homeowners/tenants are responsible for pool maintenance to prevent mosquitos from breeding there. • Code Compliance partners with Broward County Mosquito Control by providing mosquito repellant to prevent breeding. Code Compliance will treat unsanitary pools if voluntary compliance is not gained.

CODE COMPLIANCE DIVISION OUTREACH • The Code Compliance Division provides outreach assistance to Miramar residents who are elderly, and/or may be experiencing health, financial challenges, and lack the ability to address certain code related concerns. The division identifies individuals in need through daily patrol and/or referral and partners with city departments, agencies, community groups, youth groups and others having a desire to assist those in need and enhance the community’s appearance. • Code Compliance can assist with removing debris, cutting the lawn, removing shutters, pruning trees, and painting the exterior of residential homes. • To request assistance or make a referral contact the Code Compliance Division at (954) 602-3174 or email codecompliance@miramarpd.org.
