Classic raises $20,000 for scholarships With the support of vendors and local businesses, the North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) Operation Round Up® Golf Classic raised $20,000 for the co-op’s scholarship program. Nineteen teams competed for cash prizes in the scramble, which was held at the Cherokee Village South Golf Course on Oct. 12. Course sponsors included: Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc., MSTN Transformers and Roese Contracting. Silver sponsors included: Arvest Bank, Calix, FNBC, George Kell Motors, Huxford Pole & Timber Co. and Inside Information. Members can help raise money for local scholarships as well by having their bill "rounded up" to the next dollar through Operation Round Up.

NAEC selling spools; proceeds funding Christmas gifts NAEC is selling wooden and metal spools of various sizes for $5 each. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like one or more of the spools, please call 870750-0051 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays to arrange pickup at NAEC’s solar array. It is located on Highway 62/412 west of Salem. Buyers will need a trailer and straps. Money raised will go toward NAEC’s efforts to provide Christmas presents for community members in need. Wooden spools are available in widths of 24 inches, 66 inches, 72 inches and 84 inches. Metal spools are available in widths of 60 inches and 96 inches. The co-op also has a limited supply of quarter-inch guy wire for sale for $10 a roll. Proceeds from the wire sale also will go toward the Christmas project. MORE CO-OP NEWS ON PAGE 26
