TRIPLE TREAT: John Bramich with the birthday present that bagged him one of three aces at Keperra Country Golf Club. AFTER 30 years of golfing, John Bramich hadn’t exactly given up hope of a hole-in-one, but he figured time was running out. Then, out of nowhere, the Keperra Country Golf Club member potted three aces in just over 12 months. The first, at the 199m fourth hole, landed on December 4, 2011 – his birthday. Within 12 months, John, who plays off a 14 handicap, managed two more aces – at the 135m eighth hole and 139m 25th hole. “The first hole-in-one was interesting because I had ordered a new Titleist 910D driver and my wife Anne-Maree asked me what I wanted for my birthday,” John said. “I said she could pay for the driver, but she wanted to get me something else. “So, I said, ‘you can get me a hole-in-one’. She thought that was a stupid idea and ended up paying for the club. “I picked up golf club on Saturday and came out on Sunday and hit the first hole-in-one of

my life on the fourth hole on my birthday with the birthday present.” John said he couldn’t believe his luck. “I didn’t believe it went in the hole until I actually picked the ball out of the hole,” he said. John’s playing partner Keith Mapp had a clear line of sight to the pin and actually called the ace three metres before the ball found the cup. “Then I told my playing partners about the birthday present request and they said, ‘you idiot, why didn’t ask for a win in Gold Lotto’.” John’s used his trusty five rescue club to score his two other aces. He said his playing partners were more excited than he was when they dropped in the hole. “They had never seen anyone hit a hole-inone before so they were quite excited,” he said. “It’s funny how you can play golf for 30 years without an ace and then in just over 12 months you can have three. “I guess once you break the ice it’s not so hard.”•

Kiangatha estate is located in the Kanimbla Valley which is positioned alongside the Megalong Valley that border the Blue Mountains surrounding Sydney. Its unique location provides visitors with many experiences of nature’s beauty at its most magnificent, including escarpment sandstone cliff face views that reveal varying colors that change according to the position of the sun; the bubbling waters of the pristine waters of Cox’s river with its world renowned stock of trout; the serenity of cattle grazing on pasture land, to the amazing appearance of wildlife that make this area their home including kangaroo, koala, wombat, goanna, parrot, eagle and platypus. Another feature of its location is that it boasts the historic six foot track crossing through its boundaries, which was originally constructed in the form of a horse trail to connect Katoomba to Jenolan caves back in 1884. The track now takes the form of a fire trail used by bush walkers and mountain bikers seeking a connection to nature.
