A continuous interest in the research of new technologies and its further development are our drive and demand at the same time. From the very beginning to our now more than 30 years of business. Our focal points are the innovative development and production of EMC-compatible electromechanical components in electronics. And the spectrum of applications is varied. From measurement and control technology and traffic engineering via telecommunications to applications in medical and military technology. Through consequent further development, each one of our products is always state-of-the-art. We give you our word on this. We attach great importance to individual customer service. That is because only due to permanent dialogue with our customers and the very personal ambitions of the individual, we keep obtaining new ideas and consequently, new products. One of our maxims is to always be one step ahead!


At a glance. In 1979, we commenced with the manufacturing and distribution of connectors and individual developments according to customer requirements. In 1981, we developed EMI / RFI shielding full metal hoods for D-Sub connectors with special EMI / RFI protection, optimal connection of cable shielding at low transition resistance to the metal hoods, by avoiding any air gaps. We called this 360° connection “crimp flange system”. In 1985, the company name changed into Inotec electronics GmbH. Resulting from the continuous expansion of our product range, meanwhile, the largest range of EMI / RFI shielding full metal hoods for D-Sub connectors was created. In 1993, the relocation from Heilbronn to the new building in Lauffen took place. In 1997, the market’s requirements became more complex and we developed the first BUS hoods. This was the beginning of a special full metal hood series with integrated PC board that has been continued to date. In 1999, in the 20th year of our existence, we added to our product range of EMI / RFI shielding full metal hoods, the hoods for an additional connector family: DIN 41 612. In 2003, our new building has been completed. With this plant 2, it was possible to expand the development and construction aera substantially. Up to now, development of further hood types and applications, for example several varieties of BUS connectors, coding system for D-Sub hoods as well as crimpflange systems for circular connectors, impedance controlled connectors and many more.

Technical information and applications Robust metal hoods made out of die-cast zinc with excellent protective characteristics against destructive radiation, for DSub connectors corresponding to DIN 41652 / MIL-C-24308. The M1 series was developed by Inotec for externally applied slide locks, such as the Inotec series DV. This hood series is specifically used where cables are required to be frequently coupled and the utilization of jack screw-type hoods are either too cumbersome or time consuming. The hood width of the 9-37 way hoods is 14,8mm and can be used with the 15,08mm front plate units of a 19� rack-system and be aligned without any interference to one another.

There are gripping shoulders on the hood end which enable a trouble-free extraction of the connection even with tightly packed aligned hoods, without the need for that bad habit of pulling on the cables. The interior space is well proportioned to allow ample room for all expected cabling. Every hood permits the looping through of cables. The cable entries are lined with grooves in which the pre-assembled crimp flanges or cable clamps with the corresponding cable are pressed in. Cable entries not required are sealed with the supplied metal plugs.

Technical information and applications The M2 series was developed by Inotec for such applications which could not be covered with the M1 series. The overall concept of the M1 series was none the less maintained. For applications requiring a large interior area such as mixed connectors with coaxial, high-current, high-voltage inserts or flat cable connectors, where the construction of such link-up systems requires a greater insertion depth, the M2 series has been extended 15mm beyond that of the M1 series.

The relatively large interior area contains a row of extra application possibilities which cannot be realized with the M1 series, as for example: the insertion of filter arrays, electronic circuitries with cable terminals or for program plug applications etc. The cable entries have double dove-tail grooves in which the pre-fabricated assemblies with crimp flanges or cable clamps are pressed in. Cable entries not required, are sealed by pressing in the supplied metal plugs into their positions.

Technical information and applications The M3 series was developed by Inotec for the EDVL* automatic locking system which is specially used when cables have to be frequently changed and where a rapid and secure locking is required. The slide lock* installed on the connecting backshell remains in the locked position by means of a leaf spring. When mating, the slide lock snaps into the lock tabs* mounted on the opposite connector. In order to unlock, simply press the slide lock lever and disconnect the cable assembly.

Standard hoods with jack screw locking system Robust metal hoods made out of die-cast zinc with excellent protective characteristics against destructive radiation for D-Sub connectors corresponding to DIN 41 652 / MIL-C-24308 and IEC 807-2. With the MS series Inotec developed hoods with a jack screw locking system to be specifically applied where cables are not required to be frequently coupled and where a secure locking is required. Through the play free connector link-up, this kind of locking is especially recommended for applications under vibration conditions. The hood width of sizes 9-37 is 14,8mm and allows a side by side installation when using the small slide-in units (15,08mm) of a 19“ rack-system.

In order to fulfill most of the application tasks, this consists of 7 different hoods. There are gripping shoulders on the hood end which enable a trouble-free extraction of the connection even with tightly packed aligned hoods, therefore avoiding that bad habit for pulling on the cables. The interior space is large enough for the most usual forms of cabling. Hoods larger than size 15 possess 3 cable entries and also permit the looping through of cables. The cable entries are lined with double dove-tail grooves in which the pre-fabricated crimp flanges or cable clamps with the corresponding cable are presses in. Cable entries not required are sealed with the supplied metal plugs.

Technical information and applications The MS-2 series was developed by Inotec for this type of applications requiring a large interior area such as mixed connectors with coaxial, high-current, high-voltage inserts or flat cable connectors. Because the construction of this type of link-up systems requires a greater insertion depth, the MS-2 series has been extended 15mm beyond that of the MS series.

The overall concept of the MS series was none the less maintained. Furthermore the relatively large interior area contains a row of extra application possibilities which cannot be implemented with standard hoods, as for example the insertion of filter arrays, electronic circuits with cable terminals or for applications as complex program plugs etc.

Technical information and applications The MSX series was developed by Inotec for applications requiring special attention to high power and/or high frequency EMI/RFI radiation. The connector is embedded inside the metal hood. When mating this assembly, the front-side of the hood is adjoining the front panel for a secure seal between these two units. If the surface of the front panel is uneven, an additional flexible EMI gasket could be installed.

For the most common applications, where the mating connector is installed behind the front panel, the position of the connector inside the hood to its front, relates to the thickness of the front panel including any gaskets used. The construction of this system allows its adaptation to most customers applications. As a standard, Inotec delivers these hoods (and accessories*) for 2,5mm front panels. Technical information and applications The DGA series made out of die-cast zinc was developed by Inotec as a piggy-back adapter hood with cable ports. The hoods can equally be used as a gender changer for pins / sockets with or without cable entry. Linkage of the connectors to one another can be achieved with available printed circuit* boards. If no connector has been inserted into the rear side of the hood, the opening can be closed with a metal plate* which for example can take up LEDs, mini switches, coaxial connectors and similar items. DGA09M30, DGA15M30, DGA25M30 An additional type of adapter hood with an extra large inside space has been developed for applications requiring built in compact electronic circuitries. Coding Technology Coding system for D-Sub connectors Accessories With the coding system that was newly developed by Inotec, incorrect connecting of close and similar plug-in connections can be prevented in a simple way. The system is applicable to the Inotec hoods and connectors and can, if necessary, be used to upgrade already existing devices or systems. 70 variations can be obtained with this system. Notes concerning connector coding Coding is always required when there are several connecting outlets of the same type at the device. Optical identifications alone do not provide any protection against negligence or even incorrect matings when inserting the connector! The illustrations on this page show the associated elements, each with a view of the contacts. The filled circles describe the location of the coding pins, whereby, of course, it is absolutely necessary to observe the form and direction of the screen. The letters A...H and a...h only show which pins enter into which holes when the connector is inserted properly according to position.

The code pictures are numbered. Number and code always belong together even if the order or location on the hood was selected to a particular requirement. Hood and connector should always be identified with a corresponding number so that finding the correct location is made easier. As a result, the technician is spared of many unsuccessful attempts! To guarantee the use of the 70 connecting possibilities it must be certain that always 4 pins in one level are in use. If only 6 or less connections of the same size are available, one can do without equipping the hood with a second coding block (E-F-G-H). It will then only be equipped with block A-B-C-D and a-b-c-d with each 2 pins per connector and hood.

Lever set for PC board extraction and installation of coding elements

The lever has to be mounted on the PC board and helps to lift the board up to disengage it from the mating connector on the back panel and is also designed to accomodate the coding elements.

To achieve best EMI / RFI shielding for MS and other circular connectors Inotec has developed a crimp flange adapter system and back shells for different connector sizes and specifications. The crimp flange system has been originated and developed by Inotec for EMI / RFI shielding metal hoods for connectors and is one of the best and most reliable systems available. For the first time this system can now be used for a wide range of circular connectors.

Technical information and applications Time saving is an important factor in the cost of cable assembly. With our system, the simple and stable design enables rational assembly and exceptional technical efficiency. Different thread sizes allow for a greater packing density, when compared with other existing systems. Additional sizes can be offered to specific customer’s requirements.

The user will order the cable gland in the required crimp flange size, depending on the cable to be used. Inotec will define the data and processing requirements to be followed in a data sheet created on receipt of a cable sample. This service guarantees for the user a high and utmost reliable product.

Connectors Subminiatur-D Connectors Introduction The Inotec subminiature D-connector series complies with DIN 41 652 and corresponds largely with MIL-C-24308. The Inotec quality management program according to DIN / ISO 9001 guarantees the user optimal quality and reliability of the products.

The trapezoidal metal shell serves to shield from electromagnetic emitted radio interferences. This metal shell is provided with dimples that ensures a secure material connection. The contact elements can be delivered in different designs depending on the intended use. The selected contact materials ensure a high contact security with low transition resistance.

Tools Insertion tool CFE

Crimp flange insertion tool

This very handy tool for inserting crimp flanges has been designed by Inotec to ease the handling, save time and simplify the assembling method. The application is a follow: Feed the conductors through the crimp flange and insert the crimp flange into the grooves of the insertion tool CFE. Push the crimp flange underneath the cable screen and sheath until it reaches its end position and take crimp flange out of the insertion tool.

2. The cable input point should have satisfactory RF-sealing without any open electrical windows.

General: In order to minimize destructive EMI / RFI radiation on transmission lines, it is essential to have suitable safeguards. To achieve this objective, well protected cables with good screening properties and proper EMI / RFI shielding metal hoods on the cable ends are essential. The connection of the cable to the metal hood must meet several important criteria:

3. A strain relief with high mechanical retention force to be able to function during rough use of the cable.

1. A low impedance connection of the cable screen to the backshell remaining constant over a long period of time and under mechanical strain.

4. The entire work process has to be of high quality, economical and simple to carry out. To fulfil all these requirements, Inotec developed for their metal hoods the Inotec crimp flange system which connects the cable screen 360째 around the crimp flange and also achieves the mechanical strain relief in one operation. To assemble crimp parts and cable, please follow the instructions below:

Assembly Instructions: Cut the cable sheath to the correct length. Fold the cable screen backwards over the cable sheath and cut it off in such a way, that approximately 1-2mm are left over.

Slide the crimp ferrule backwards over the cable sheath. Feed the conductors through the crimp flange. Push the crimp flange underneath the cable screen and sheath until it reaches its end position. Slide the crimp ferrule forward to the correct position.

Insert ferrule into hexagonal crimp dies, specified by Inotec and press tool firmly together.

The assembled crimp flange is then pressed into the corresponding groove provided in the metal hood. The result is a high retention force, very low resistance and a reliable connection of the cable screen to the metal hood without any electrical windows.

The prerequisites for an optimum connection are the coordination of crimp flange, crimp ferrule and crimp dies for the cable that is used by the customer. The decisive factor in determining the dimensions of the crimp flange is the diameter of the conductor bundle and not the external diameter of the cable sheath. The max. inner diameter for the crimp flanges is as follows: CF100: 8,0mm, CF200: 11,0mm, CF300: 10,5mm, CF400: 6,5mm

On receipt of a cable sample from the customer, Inotec will determine all necessary dimensions and furnish this data and instructions for the application in a technical information sheet. This free service guarantees the user trouble-free assembly and ensures good product reliability.
