INNIS COLLEGE RENEWAL AND EXPANSION NAMING OPPORTUNITIES

West Wing, $7 million Innis’s Renewal and Expansion will increase space for students by an ambitious 60%. This will be achieved by extending the existing west wing of the College northward. Across four light-filled floors, the west wing will accommodate a much-larger café, amalgamated Student Learning Centre, and numerous new spaces for group study, meetings, and relaxation. The thoughtful design will preserve and complement the heritage and beauty of the original Victorian house and the character of the Huron-Sussex neighbourhood.

Town Hall, $2 million Innis’s flagship theatre and lecture hall sits at the physical, academic, and cultural centre of the College. It is also Innis’s link to the broader community. Each month, upwards of 3,000 visitors flock to Town Hall for world-class film screenings and festivals, civic discussions, book talks, and more. The ambiance is warm and comfortable; the technology is state-of-the-art.

Innis Café Dining and Study Area, $1.5 million

With the Renewal and Expansion, the muchbeloved Innis Café will double in size and become more open and accessible within the College. A wood-framed fireplace with comfortable seating caps the north end of the Café, while natural light pours in from the Green and bpNichol Lane.

Innis Green, $1 million Innis’s courtyard has long been a cherished space for sunny study, relaxation, and gatherings—large and small. The Renewal and Expansion will bring the Green into focus. Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, the College’s interior will blend seamlessly into this outdoor greenspace. The Green will be more purposefully designed, offering ample seating, vibrant plantings, and a stronger link between St. George Street and bpNichol Lane.

5

West Entrance and Atrium, $750,000

The College’s bright and lofty west atrium is a vital artery, connecting Sussex Avenue to the Green and Town Hall to the Café. By opening the atrium in all dimensions, the Renewal and Expansion will enhance circulation and present visitors with a more expansive and inviting first impression.

85% of Innis College students travel to campus from homes across the Greater Toronto Area. By furnishing an expansive, multi-functional lounge, the Renewal and Expansion will provide commuter students with a dedicated space to unwind, gather, and make connections. Located on the third floor, overlooking the Green to the north, this new lounge will ensure all Innis students have a place to call home in their college.

7

Town Hall Lounge, $500,000 The Renewal and Expansion will more than double the width of the corridor leading into Town Hall, transforming the hallway into an attractive lounge. Students and community members alike will be able to relax between lectures and screenings, while enjoying a floorto-ceiling view of the Green.

8

Cinema Studies Library Stacks, $200,000 Innis College has proudly housed the Cinema Studies Institute for nearly 50 years.
