LIFE SAVING DEVICE

On Aug. 4, HOW donated a life-saving device to a clinic run by Dr. Phan and his wife, Dr. Huong. The clinic accepts all patients no matter their ailment. Those with HIV and TB (Tuberculosis), who would be shunned from most hospitals in Vietnam, are welcomed. Those without resources, who would be turned away from hospitals, receive free care.
In August, HOW made a visit to the clinic and asked for a “wish list.” Wish lists allow the clinic to request anything they may need, whether it be as small as bandages, or more expensive machinery.
HOW found that the clinic was in desperate need of a coagulation meter that could quickly test how thick or thin someone's blood was This information would be used before surgeries in order to prepare remedies, thus controlling the patient’s bleeding. The cost of this machine was $2 thousand.

With the generosity of HOW donors, a brand new coagulation meter was delivered to the clinic the very next day. ❁

HOW recently made a trip to Bali, Indonesia to donate food and water filters, and wheelchairs
Each water filtration system costs $27 and can filter 1849 gallons of water.
Many, including children, have waited years for access to a wheelchair.
HOW personally interviews recipients first, then hand delivers food and hygiene supplies Rice, fruits and vegetables, cooking necessities, toothpaste, toothbrushes and soaps last several months, allowing residents to save money instead of worrying about taking care of themselves ❁

On Dec. 27, HOW Secretary Tan Vo stumbled across a Facebook video from vlogger Phuc Trong, featuring a little boy who was bloated.
drivers to take the family to a hospital. By 10 p.m. that night, Khuong was admitted into Nhi Dong 2, a children’s hospital in Vietnam.
Khuong had kidney issues that had gone untreated for eleven months After traveling to several hospitals, Khuong was diagnosed, given medication and asked to return for follow-up care. However, his family didn’t have enough money for more hospital visits nor bus tickets to the city, so he was kept at home in the mountains of Da Lat, where his condition only worsened.
Upon seeing the video, HOW immediately reached out to transfer the necessary funds, while Mr. Trong found
After 28 days of hospitalization, Khuong returned home. He is still far from recovered, and has to make a monthly trek to see his doctors and receive medication.
However, thanks to HOW’s donors, Mr. Trong and his viewers, and extraordinary doctors and nurses, Khuong’s family now has the resources to cover his transportation and care. In only 72 hours from the video’s posting, Khuong received the help he needed from all over the world. ❁

In September, construction of her new home was completed. The family moved in immediately, and are grateful for a cozy home that doesn’t leak during rain nor rattle on windy days ❁
