Jess Reinhart (2004-11) continues to be a star in the pool, being named Female Freshman of the meet at a recent College swim meet in the USA, where she is studying at Liberty University in Virginia. Her wins in the 100 yard and 200 yard butterfly events meant she has qualified for the US Open in August 2013.

Georgina (Georgie) Somerset (Robinson) (1983-84) appeared on the panel on the ABC’s Q & A program recorded on at the Empire Theatre in June 2012. Georgina lives on a property outside Kingaroy and is a beef producer. She is Vice-President of the National Foundation for Australian Women, and a member of the National Rural Advisory Council and the Queensland Women’s Consultative Council.

It was double the excitement for two Fairholme Old Girls’ at the Bond University Humanities Awards Night held earlier this year as they took out awards for excellence. Jessica Foot (2003-09), who is studying for her Bachelor of International Relations/Communications (Business), was the recipient of a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence. Mary Grant (200509), who will graduate with a Bachelor of Laws/ International Relations (Business) next year, was the recipient of a Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.

Kathryn Parkinson (1992-2000), an accountant in Sydney, is doing brilliantly in Triathlon. She came first in her age group at the Cairns Ironman Triathlon in April 2013, with a time of 10.21.52. This qualifies her to compete in the Hawaii Ironman later this year, and follows on from her success in October 2012, where she came 4th in her age group at the Kona World Ironman Championship.

Jo Capp (Geddes) (1979-86), St Vincent’s Hospital Toowoomba’s Community Relations Associate, was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club of Toowoomba. Recognition as a Paul Harris fellow remains a respected and prestigious honour, and recipients receive a pin, medallion and certificates that identify them as advocates of the foundation’s goals of world peace and understanding. Jo is pictured above receiving a donation to St Vincent’s Hospital from 2012 Fairholme Interact Club members.

Former Toowoomba artist, Bronte Naylor (200711) returned to the Garden City in February to stage a combined exhibition with Alison Mooney entitled ‘Lost and Found in My Head’. The Show, which was on display at ‘The Grid’ in Ruthven street, received rave reviews and featured a broad range of mediums such as ink, aerosol, watercolour, salt and Ajax!

Successful actor, director and writer and Fairholme Old Girl, Judy Morris (L’Armand) (1955-64) was recently named as the first female ‘Fellow of the Empire Theatre’. Ms Morris’ claims to fame include a role in the television show Mother and Son, the film Phar Lap and co-writing the Academy Award winning Happy Feet with George Miller.

Angela Burgess (19982005) attended an international cheerleading competition in America in December 2012. Her team, ‘Aussie Spirit’, performed exceptionally well over the two-day competition, overtaking the American grand national champions to win their division. The team received medals, winner’s jackets and a team plaque and banner. Angela’s club team (River City Spirit) then went on to compete at the Wold Cup Cheers and Dance Regionals in Brisbane, taking out the Level 2 Open Division. To make it three in a row, the club was then named the Asia Pacific Champions and High Point Winners for 2012. We look forward to hearing more of Angela’s successes in the near future.

Mrs Jayne Davidson (1973-74) emailed this lovely photograph of her daughter Belinda Davidson (1992-96), with the roses her fiancé, Marcus Katter, presented her with when he proposed.

Christie Menzies (2004-05) and Cameron McLennan announced their engagement in February 2013. Christie is the daughter of Greg and Gayle Menzies (Taroom), and Cameron, the son of Peter and Helen McLennan (also of Taroom).

Warner - Willis: The engagement of Alison Ruth Willis (1994-99) and John Kenneth Warner was announced with much pleasure earlier this year.

Heidi Somerset (1996-2008) and Nick Harrigan announced their engagement on 25 May 2013.
