Baby Boom

Roars were heard throughout the kingdom when Palm Beach Zoo announced the birth of three Malayan tiger cubs. Beloved Malayan tiger Api gave birth to three healthy cubs. Api and her mate, Kadar, are part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Malayan Tiger Species Survival Plan® (SSP). The SSP® ensures a genetically healthy population of animals in managed care. The birth of rare Malayan tiger cubs is a tremendous milestone for Api, Kadar, Palm Beach Zoo and the Malayan tiger subspecies. It is cause for a global celebration. At this age, the members of the trio were easily identified by the unique stripe pattern over each cub’s right eye: a heart, a flower and a trident.
