A la CGN, nous avons le privilège d’accueillir les riverains et celles et ceux qui sont venus de loin, parfois de l’autre bout de la planète, sur la plus grande flotte Belle Epoque du monde. Chacun de nos bateaux centenaires est un véritable monument, indissociable du Léman comme l’est la vigne des côtes de Lavaux. Chacun d’entre nous porte en soi une connexion profonde avec ces majestueux bateaux, le Léman et le splendide cadre alpin. Que ce soit les sorties en famille à bord d’un bateau à vapeur ou juste le fait d’avoir admiré l’activité autour d’un débarcadère, ils nous ont laissé des souvenirs chers et doux. Nous estimons que c’est notre premier devoir de préserver cette faculté de création de souvenirs. Ensemble avec les parties prenantes, dont notamment l’ABVL et les autorités cantonales, nous déployons les moyens nécessaires afin de maintenir ce patrimoine unique et de lui permettre la traversée des temps. Cette mission est également une motivation clé de tous nos collaborateurs. C’est grâce à leur professionnalisme, à leur passion et à leur persévérance que les projets de rénovation aboutissent et qu’en 2021 nous disposerons d’une flotte qui garantira pratiquement l’ensemble des courses touristiques avec des bateaux Belle Epoque en haute saison. Le même savoir-faire qui maintient les bateaux centenaires est également au service de la navigation du futur. Comme vous le lirez dans l’interview du président du conseil d’administration à la page 42, la CGN est partenaire de l’EPFL et soutient les jeunes du Swiss Solar Boat qui participent au Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge. Fidèle à notre histoire, rappelons-nous que la machine à vapeur fut une technologie révolutionnaire au XIXe siècle. La CGN explore et soutient aujourd’hui l’industrialisation de nouvelles sources d’énergie pour notre flotte entière. La transition énergétique pour la préservation du Léman est un choix que nous poursuivons avec conviction et détermination. La finalité de tous nos efforts demeure de pouvoir transmettre une flotte centenaire unique au monde à la prochaine génération, pour qu’elle génère chez elle autant de souvenirs mémorables qu’elle l’a fait pour nous. ✵
At CGN, we have the privilege of welcoming local residents as well as visitors from afar, sometimes from the other side of the globe, to enjoy the world’s biggest Belle Epoque fleet. Each of our century-old boats is a real monument, as inseparable from Lake Geneva as the vine is from the Lavaux hills. Every one of us has a deep inner connection with these majestic boats, Lake Geneva and the splendid Alpine environment. Whether from family outings aboard a steamboat or just admiring the activity around a landing pier, we have many fond and treasured memories of these vessels. We believe that our primary duty is to preserve this ability to create memories. Together with the stakeholders, including the ABVL and cantonal authorities, we use all means necessary to maintain this unique heritage and help it stand the test of time. This mission is also a key motivation for all our employees. It is thanks to their professionalism, passion and perseverance that the renovation projects are coming to an end, and in 2021 we will be able to provide Belle Epoque boats for practically all tourist trips in high season. The same expertise that goes into maintaining the century-old boats will also serve the navigators of the future. As you will see when you read the interview with the Chairman of the Board of Directors on page 42, CGN is a partner of EPFL and supports the young Swiss Solar Boat crew who are taking part in the Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge. Staying true to our history, let’s not forget that the steam engine was a revolutionary technology in the 19th-century. Today, CGN explores and supports the industrialisation of new energy sources for our entire fleet. The energy transition for the preservation of Lake Geneva is a choice that we are pursuing with conviction and determination. The ultimate aim of all our efforts is to be able to pass on this unique century-old fleet to the next generation so that it can create as many unforgettable memories for them as it has for us. ✵
„Der Lac Léman, König unserer Seen“ Henri Durand, waadtländischer Dichter 1818-1842 (Siehe französischer Text) Wir haben bei der CGN das Privileg, Gäste von Nah und Fern auf der grössten Belle Epoque – Flotte der Welt empfangen zu dürfen. Jedes unserer hundertjährigen Schiffe ist ein einzigartiges Denkmal und gehört zum Lac Léman wie die Weinberge zu den Hängen des Lavaux. Jeder von uns ist mit ihnen verbunden wie zum Genfersee und den majestätischen Gebirgen die ihn umrahmen. Sei es ein Familienausflug auf einem Dampfer oder auch nur um den Betrieb auf einer Schiffsländte zu beobachten, schöne Erinnerungen bleiben immer. Wir sind der Ansicht, dass es unsere Aufgabe ist, solche kostbare Erinnerungen weiterhin ermöglichen zu können. Zusammen mit unseren Partnern, vor Allem mit den drei Anrainerkantonen und der ABVL, stellen wir die nötigen Mittel zur Verfügung, damit dieses Kulturgut weiterleben kann. Dieser Auftrag motiviert auch entscheidend unsere Mitarbeiter. Dank deren Professionalität, Ausdauer und auch Herzblut wird ab 2021 in der Hauptsaison praktisch das ganze touristische Angebot der CGN mit Belle Epoque – Schaufelradschiffen offeriert. Diese Eigenschaften, die den Weiterbetrieb der hundertjährigen Schiffe ermöglichen, stehen aber auch für zukunftsgerichtete Projekte zur Verfügung. Wie Sie auf Seite 42 des Interviews unseres Verwaltungsratspräsidenten lesen werden, ist die CGN Partnerin der ETH Lausanne (EPFL) und unterstützt die junge Firma Swiss Solar Boat, die am Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge teilnehmen wird. Wir bleiben unserer Geschichte treu, denn die Dampfmaschine gehörte im 19. JH ebenfalls zu den revolutionären Technologien. Die CGN erforscht damit und unterstützt gegenwärtig Projekte über neue Energiequellen bis zu ihrer industriellen Produktion, die eine Verwendung für ihre ganze Flotte ermöglichen könnten. Die Energiewende für den Schutz des Genfersees ist eine Herausforderung, die wir mit Überzeugung und Entschiedenheit weiterverfolgen werden. Und nun zurück zu unserer weltweit einzigartigen hundertjährigen Schaufelradflotte: alle unsere Bemühungen sollen sicherstellen, dass sie auch den zukünftigen Generationen unvergessliche Erinnerungen ermöglichen wird, so wie wir sie heute erleben dürfen. ✵
