Sangam 2012 Rocked at Texas A&M
COLLEGE S TAT I O N : Sangam is a talent show hosted every spring by the Texas A&M Indian Students Association (ISA) in College Station. Since it’s inception only A&M teams have competed, but this year for the first time ever, ISA opened up the competition to other teams from all over Texas. Starting with the Indian and American national anthems and a graceful classical exhibition act, six teams participated from out of town and four local A&M teams competed for a grand cash prize. A packed Rudder Theatre filled with family, friends, and performers enjoyed a tough and great competition. The team, Roarin’ Raas bagged the first place for dance taking home a cash prize of $700, Texas Bhangra came in second winning $300. Arjun Adapalli (student from the University of Texas) won the music category with a cash price of $400!
Other fun awards include: Fan Favorite went - Maroon Mayhem, Best Costume - Wreckin’ Raas and Most Spirited - Texas Bhangra. Decked in Indian attire, the ISA officers and Sangam co-directors were excited to have been part of a team that put on a successful talent show. The idea of inviting teams from out of town for the event proved to be a triumph! The ISA looks forward to doing bigger and better things every year!
