WHERE THEORY MEETS PRACTICE Dr.Stephen Covey, in his book “The 7 habits of highly effective people” advocates “Begin with the end in mind”. What this means is, if one is clear about the destination, the journey becomes much easier and more meaningful. Likewise, in the hyper competitive world of today, every organization looks for employee skills which would drive the organization towards their goals. As organisations expand, they require not only more and more manpower but also skilled manpower who knows what to do and how to do things!!! Today, there is widespread talk about bridging the gap between industry and academia. Herein, comes the role of B-schools. They need to produce graduates who understand the “how part” more than the” what” part. We, at Indira have been assiduously working in this direction for the last two decades. The pedagogy at Indira Institute of Management, Pune(IIMP) is “ Start with the industry practice and work backwards to link it to theory. This makes it very easy for the budding managers to understand the practical insight along with the technical or theoretical insight. We have a reasonably good pool of ex-industry professionals who come handy when it comes to giving the industry perspective to the management graduates. Additionally, we have a plethora of platforms wherein industry captains are invited to campus, to share their thoughts and best practices. This acts as a wonderful opportunity for the students to not only understand the contemporary industry practices but also to link it to classroom theory. All our approaches are driven by our belief that the budding managers are the future of this country and they are the future industry captains. If they are equipped with the practical insights of industry, they will truly be ready for a head start. So, if you want to begin with the end in mind and if you want a real head start at the start of your corporate career, IIMP is the right choice for you. Because, here, theory meets practice and yes, we mean it.
