On the New Year Day on January 1, live Darshan was held at Selva Vinayakar Koyil Ganesha temple in Brisbane, with Annadanam (meal for the poor) organised for 3000 people, despite it being a rainy day.

For the last 16 years, few friends and families from Northern suburbs of Brisbane, Australia, have been offering Annadanam (Food) to devotees of Sri Selva Vinayakar Temple on New Year’s Day, and it has now become a significant event in the temple’s calendar.

After the special Puja between 9-10 am, over 3000 meals were cooked in the temple’s premises and served to devotees, who joined the lunch in the temple at 4915-4923, Mt Lindesay Highway, South Maclean, Queensland-4280. Selva Vinayakar temple is built according to traditional Indian style in conformity with ancient Sitpa Sastra and Agamas. Similar to the Hindu temples in India, Selva Vinayakar temple is also situated in the midst of areas of natural scenic beauty, in proximity to the Logan River at South Maclean, an area of prevailing peace and inspiration to the devotees visiting this temple.
