A joint event ‘Kar Chale Hum Fida’, organised by Consulate General of India (CGI), Perth, and Federation of Indian Associations of WA (FIAWA), was held using virtual online platform in Perth on 9 Aug to pay tribute to India’s freedom fighters and soldiers who have sacrificed their present to protect the future for all Indians.

The first-ever event in Perth of this kind using the state-ofthe-art virtual technology was widely participated by online viewers including ex-army officers across India, Australia and Europe. A group of renowned Hindi poets and a young singer recited patriotic poems and songs

to infuse national pride and respect for India leading up to Independence Day. Using virtual technology online platform is the way to go for future in this COVID situation where traveling and large gatherings at venues seems improbable in near future.

FIAWA Secretary Mr Prashant Singh and CGI Perth staff successfully conceived, coordinated and implemented this great event to bring the rich and diverse Indian culture and Hindi language on the mobile phones of Indian diaspora across the international borders.
