Amazon Prime India chief records statement on ‘Tandav’

Lucknow, Feb 23 (IANS) Aparna Purohit, the country head of Amazon Prime that streamed controversial web series “Tandav”, recorded her statement at the Hazratganj police station here on Tuesday afternoon. Purohit got her statement recorded on the directives of the Allahabad High Court. A case had been filed by Additional Inspector, Hazratganj, Amarnath Verma, regarding the web series on January 18 against Purohit, “Tandav” director Ali Abbas, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehar and writer Gaurav Solanki. According to sources, the Lucknow police had prepared a list of about 100 questions for Purohit, who was questioned in a closed room. Her lawyers were also with her. “Tandav” led to protests across the country over some objectionable scenes. Besides Lucknow, an FIR was registered in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar against Purohit and others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Kunal Kemmu deadlifts 150 kilos of weights

Bollywood actor Kunal Kemmu shared a video where he can be seen lifting 150 kilos of weight. He says it is not about how much you lift but how well you can lift it and not injure yourself in the process. Kunal posted the video on instagram, doing a repetition of deadlift with 150 kilos. “150kgs! That is currently my one rep max on deadlifts. It’s an exercise that i really like and one that needs to be done right. Proper form is paramount specially as you build strength and add weights Never ego train. It’s not about how much you can lift but how well you can lift it and not injure yourself in the process,” he wrote as caption. Kunal said it took him two months of training to build up to this weight. It is his sixth and last set. “You should never just go and lift heavy weights directly. Salil Ankola: Have been doing regular work as actor for past 20 years

Mumbai, Feb 23 (IANS) It was great to spot cricketer-turnedactor Salil Ankola on the screen once again, in the recent Vidyut Jammwal-starrer, The Power. The former Indian fast bowler may be 52, but he looks not a day older than mid-thirties, essaying a hunky bodyguard to one of the key characters in the Mahesh Manjrekar film. The role may have been a short one, but it somehow defines Ankola’s career -- in showbiz as well as cricket. He is always been around and you can never quite ignore his towering persona. Right now, Ankola is Chairman of the Senior Selection Committee of Mumbai Cricket Association. It is a job he was appointed to in December and he is happy to have “returned to the game after a long time”. “I have been appointed about two and a half months back now. I was appointed on 16th of December. It feels good (that I) returned to the game after a long time. My team is doing well,” Ankola told IANS. Ankola has reasons to feel ebullient about his new post. Life as a cricketer, as well as an actor subsequently, hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride all along. He started out on a high representing the country in 1989, incidentally in the same tour of Pakistan as Sachin Tendulkar. Ankola was 21 then. The Dressing Room (2004), Riwayat (2012), Tera Intezaar (2018) and the recent Manjrekar OTT release, The Power. Understanding his roster as an actor is important to understand that he has mostly stayed busy through the years, through thick and thin. He underplays his small role in The Power. “I’m not trying to make a comeback in the movies. I have acted for 20 years now. I have been doing regular work for the past 20 years,” Ankola pointed out. Yet, there was an undeniable dark phase in his life, even though he had no dearth of work. Around 2008, the press was abuzz with reports of Ankola being admitted to rehab care. According to a Mumbai Mirror report of November 2008, Ankola was admitted to a rehabilitation centre in Pune. He had become an alcoholic, which in turn led to depression, demanding treatment, the report further stated. He was back to a rehabilitation centre in Pune in 2010.

‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ turns 3: Nushrratt Bharucha recalls her ‘first film to enter 100-cr club’

Actress Nushrratt Bharucha reecalls the film changed a lot of things for her professionally and helped her grow. “This film got a tremendous response from the audience, which is super fresh in my mind till now. It was my first film to enter the 100-crore club and I am just too grateful to have been part of it all. It was like a turning point of my career where I feel, I got the recognition that I had worked so hard for,” she says. The film was helmed by Luv Ranjan and also starred Kartik Aaryan and Sunny Singh Nijjar. “I was very comfortable with Luv sir’s style of shooting and working with Kartik and Sunny. We were all just enjoying every bit of the shoot. I really miss that experience and am glad that I had it,” Nushrat adds. The actress will be seen next in the horror film Chorrii. Mumbai, Feb 23 (IANS) Actor Gurmeet Choudhary has a double dose lined up right now. His first solo hero project titled The Wife is set to release on March 19. He appears in the music video of B. Praak’s new song Mazaa, too. The Wife is a horror film costarring Sayani Datta. “We’re all scared of our wives and this film’s name is ‘The Wife’! So, I think that the audience will get scared twice over while watching the film,” he laughed. “We shot for ‘The Wife’ a year ago and it is releasing now, so I am excited. Till now, I have worked in four films and I have always got a chance to work with good producers but those films had two to three male actors. so after working in multistarrer films, I thought that I should do a solo hero film,” Gurmeet added. “It would sound cliched to say that my film is different from other films but I still feel it is a unique and interesting film in terms of story and characters. It’s a psychological thriller and I am a huge fan of this genre. I think big stars have done two to three film horror films in their career and this genre has its own audience. Directed by Sarmad Khan, the story revolves around a married couple who, soon after moving into their new apartment, suspect the presence of a malevolent spirit. As their relationship crumbles, they realise they must stick together to not only save their marriage but also their lives. Gurmeet’s other point of focus right now is the upcoming music video, Mazaa. “It is sung and composed by B. Praak and its lyrics are written by Jaani. I have been a huge fan of both. It is a hit pair and we have shot the song on a big scale. It is one of my favourite songs. My music videos have always been appreciated by the audience but this song holds a special place in my heart. I feel the younger generation will connect with the song,” he said about the video.
