he Victorian Govern1nent has announced $200,000 multicultural festivals and celebrations.

$50,000ofthis amount is set aside for Hindu celebrations, events and festivals.

Early in the newyear,ActingMinister for Multicultural Affairs Shaun Leane opened the Multicultural Festivals and Events Progra1n, invitingorganisations toapply forfundingforeventstobe held between March and June this year.

The fundingwill supporteventsheld either in person orin adigital fonnat. 1n-person events must adhere to the COVIDSafe Public Events Framework.

With the entertainn1ent and events industryoneofthe hardest hit becauseofthe panden1ic, thisfunding announcement comes as awelcome move.

The initiative is part ofthe Andrews' LaborGovernment'selection co1nmitn1enttoinvest $200,000 to support multiculturalcelebrations.

In March,Victoria'sGreek cornmunitywill celebratethe 200th anniversaryofGreek independence - a significantoccasionon theircultural calendar. MinisterShaun Leane said, "The $200,000 fundingwill helpit be COVIDSafebutin1portantly, a rnilestone to ren1en1ber."
