Commemorating The Indianlinksat Gallipoli
VISHCHILUMKURTI wrote about the efforts being made bygroup of local Indians inBrisbane to create a monumentfor Indiansoldiers of both World Wars
SmithsonPlanning wrote: It is heartening to note that efforts are being made by the Australian government and also a group of Indian-origin residents of Brisbane to ensure thatdue credit is given to all the valorous Indian soldiers who sacrificed everything for the cause of peace. The Australia India Heritage Committee (AIHC) was formed in late 2015 with an objective to create a monument in Queenslandthat will have a distinct identity of its own, and which will commemorate the Indian soldiers of both World Wars.

ProfessorKrishnaSomers wrote: I read with interestthe article by Vish Chilumkurti on Indian links with Gallipoli in your August 2016 issue. Griffth University also needs to take into account the sacrifices made by Indian troops in the Pacific War. The War Cemetery in Lae, Papua New Guinea, is also the burial site of many unidentifiedIndian soldiers with grave stones recognised by a Sanskrit saying: Om Namo Namaha. I have myself visited the cemetery during a tour of duty in Papua New Guinea.
Anote Ofcongratulations
I am now in receipt of three or four editions of IndianLink and want to thank you and most importantly to congratulate you on the quality of the product.
I find the content a clever combination of serious subjects and light-hearted entertainment. It is a very readable publication.
For those of us interested in advancing Australia/India relations, the paper does a great job in putting forward a contemporary and traditional image of India and the rich experience of Indians in Australia. So thank you again and warmest congratulations.
