AMITABH BACHCHAN'S MUCH TALKED ABOUT LETTER TO HIS GRANDDAUGHTERS
from 2016-09 Adelaide
by Indian Link
Being a woman in this big, bad world is not easy and Amitabh Bachchan knows it. Maybe that's why he has written such a heartfelt letter to his granddaughters, Navya and Aradhya. Though we think that this letter also has something to do with his upcoming movie, Pink, a courtroom drama which tells the story of three girls caught in a patriarchal society that blames women for all things wrong that happen to them.
The Bollywoodmegastar wrote a very personal and inspirational letter to the girls in which he tells them to make their own choices and not worry about what the world will think or who they shouldget married to. He tells Navya, 18, that even her big surname will not protect her from the difficulties that come with being a woman, while he gloomily tells Aaradhya, four, that he may not even be there by the time she is old enough to understand this letter.
But does he extend this mindsetto his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan?
Reports claim that intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in the teaser of Ae Di/ Hai Mushki/ have Amitabh Bachchan seeing red.
In the past, both AmitabhBachchan andAbhishek Bachchanshared the posters and trailers of Aishwarya Rai's previous two films,Jazbaa and Sarbjit, but not this time. Abhishek Bachcan put up a very supportive front andshared the teaser 'as a formality'. Amitabh, on the other hand, stuckto his guns and refused to budge from his decision of not sharing the link on his social media.
It is sad to see that someone who has writtensuch a heartfeltletter outlining the adversities that women face in this world and the need to stand against these hardships, is seen to be the one creating them in his own home. For someone who has been in the industry for decades, how does he not understand that if the story demands an intimatescene between the characters of the film there is a degree of professionalism that all actors (male and female) must possess anddo their job, irrespective of their personal lives.
Double standardsmuch, Big B?
