To Amumwho Lives Inlove

A poem by RaniJhala

This Mother's Day, no presents will be packed, No restaurant booked, no surprises planned. This Mother's Day, an empty grip Will, hold my aching heart within.

This Mother's Day your child will cry, And curse the day you said goodbye. And when the pain has all poured out I'llclose my eyes and look about.

I'll look for you within the kitchen walls, Then search around your divine shrine. I'll feel your strength in the bangles you wore; As I reach to hold your hand again.

I'll hear you through the letters you left, And memorise each word you wrote. I'llspeak of you, to those you loved, And dream of you in your new realm.

So maybe a present, willstill be packed, Just to hear you say "No, don't do that." And I'll send my all, to you this day, My special mum who lives in love! Happy Mother's Day Mummy.

LPAyer wrote: I am sad to learn of the demise of

MalIi Iyer who, over many years, brought cheers to Indian Link readers and, at the same time, made them think on the serious issues in our lives. Rip Sanayasahib

Sofina Nikat, the mother of14-month-oldSanayaSahib, whose body was found in a Melbourne creek, was charged with her murder

Deepa Bhatia wrote: Shame to a mother who murders her own child for whatever reason!

Raghu Rules wrote: Killing isn't the solution for any problem. RIP the little princess, no one deserves to die like that

Geetha Nair wrote: Indeedsad, this is not a normal behaviour of any mother, unless there are underlying issues. Encourage anyone going through any kind if depression or hurt to recognise this and seek help. It is easier said than done, but the joy of life is so worth it.

ShaPrasad wrote:This is an absolute horror! A mother ended upkilling her own child!A young, vulnerable mother not in the right frame of mind, going through a divorce with the husband claiming custody of her child, trapped in an extreme cycle of violence.

As she makes her way to the creek, pushing the baby in her pram, only looking for her own personal space, she doesn't realise what she has done. And this image of this young, helpless, vulnerable mother is going to hauntAustraliaand all of us forever. Blame the system! The health professionals visited that home earlier and they shouldhave addressed the issue and prevented this sort of tragedy. I hope we won't exploit this young mother's tragedy. Some of the comments by individualwriters online are very insulting to the family and the respective community. We are all victims of this horrible tragedy.

The gem in this story (besides the ones in the watch) is that she came two hours late for the launch of Swiss watch(es) known for their precision. One Indian political leader who always used to come hours late for his public meetings, told his ally, "I want to test my popularity to see how long people are prepared to wait to hear me." Maybe Madonna did the same thing when she was here last month!
