PYRAMID CLUB •
The Pyramid Club was first organized in 1941 when in the fall of that year a group of Civils advised by Mr. Robert Ruhl and led by Robert Patterson drafted a constitution. The club functioned well during the war years but had no appeal for the maiority of incoming students. There were a few, however, who did not lose interest and kept the organization running. In the fall of 1948 under the leadership of Robert Stinetorf, David Moehring, and Robert Squires the constitution was revised, and letters were sent to all Civil Engineering students, urging them to take part in the new program. These efforts resulted in an increase in membership until almost 50 % of the men in the Civil Department belong to the club. Club programs consist of highly authoritative speakers from all branches o~ Civil Engineering. One of the most interesting was a series of lectures on concrete. Speakers have also presented topics on sewerage, highway work, aluml" num fabrication, and post-college problems. The Pyramid Club has succeeded in planning its programs so that they are not entirely on an educational basis. During the term, sport and travel films are often shown. Parties sponsored by the club are a tremendous success. Now with the aid of Mr. Ruhl, Mr. Stevenson, and Dr. Tories all of the members are working for a bigger and better Pyramid Club. 84
