As always, this event offers an outstanding opportunity to learn and network with other hospitality and tourism professionals. The Indiana Office of Tourism Development, the Restaurant and Hospitality Association of Indiana, the Indiana Hotel and Lodging Association and the Association of Indiana Convention and Visitors Bureaus have planned informative sessions addressing topics from customer service and marketing to current trends in technology. This is an exciting time for Indiana’s travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Indiana welcomes 71 million visitors a year who spend over $10 billion dollars in our state. Tourism is the sixth largest industry in the state and supports over 186,000 jobs. SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES KELLY BRYAN, CONN-SELMER Kelly Bryan is currently the Manager of Educational Outreach for Conn-Selmer’s Division of Education. As such she has worked along with the conference staff at Bethel College to coordinate and organize Conn-Selmer Institute, an annual music education seminar that provides over 300 college students, teachers, music administrators and parent leaders the opportunity to network and grow professionally. The Institute has been held on the campus of Bethel College for the past three years and will be held there again this coming June. Through the efforts of the outstanding staff at Bethel College and the tireless dedication of the Conn-Selmer Division of Education and their roster of clinicians and volunteers, the Institute has earned a reputation as the preeminent event focused on music education. Prior to working for the Conn-Selmer Division of Education, Kelly was a high school orchestra teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada. During that time she coordinated and developed growth opportunities for music students and teachers on local and state level. She began working with Conn-Selmer as a volunteer in June of 2008 where she was then promoted to Volunteer Coordinator. Kelly has been in her current position since June of 2013.

HALLIE CALDARONE, JACKSON LEWIS P.C. Ms. Caldarone is an experienced employment law litigator. She has been based in Chicago her entire career and has extensive experience litigating all forms of employment matters throughout the Midwest in federal courts, state courts, and before administrative agencies. SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES MEREDITH DILLON, TRIPADVISOR Meredith Dillon is the Midwest Sales Manager for TripAdvisor’s Destination Marketing team and is based in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining TripAdvisor, Dillon served in both sales and agency roles with an emphasis on digital media at Fleishman-Hillard and CBS Interactive. As a member of the Destination Marketing team she educates on how best to utilize TripAdvisor’s 83 million unique users to market your destination.

LAUREN FAULKNER, SMITH TRAVEL RESEARCH Lauren Faulkner is Business Development Executive for STR (Smith Travel Research). STR is the recognized leader for lodging industry benchmarking and research. Lauren is responsible for the growth of STR’s independent hotel participant programs across the Central United States. She is often featured as a guest speaker for industry and How-toUse STAR presentations. She serves as the Middle TN ambassador for the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Under 30 Gateway and is also a member of the TN Women in Lodging Chapter. Lauren is a native of Nashville, TN. She began at STR in January of 2010, after earning her bachelor’s degree in Corporate & Organizational Communications from Western Kentucky University. She currently resides in Goodlettsville, TN with her husband.

KATIE FRANK, ZINGERMAN’S It was Katie’s love for food that eventually led her to Zingerman’s. As a young girl growing up in Dayton, Ohio, she baked large K-shaped cookies and many cakes. Years later, she went to Vanderbilt for a B.A. in Human and Organizational Development. While at Vanderbilt, Katie played basketball as the team’s captain, not just to burn away the K-shaped calories, but to also hone her leadership and teambuilding skills. Katie stayed on at Vanderbilt for a Masters in Human Resource Development. After leaving Vanderbilt, Katie’s education, passion for team building, leadership skills and love of baking all came together at Bread and Company, Nashville’s premier bakery. She started at Bread and Company as a retail staffer, eventually working her way up to Director of Retail Operations, and ending her four year tenure there as General Manager, bringing their fourth store on line. In 2005, Katie came back to her Midwestern roots and joined Zingerman’s Bakehouse as a manager. She led a team of 12 people to create “The Zingerman’s Experience” at Zingerman’s Bakeshop, a tiny (800 sq. ft.) retail space in the industrial park where Zingerman’s Bakehouse bakes all of its artisanal breads and pastries. Undaunted by the challenge of the location and space limitations, Katie responded to the tough economy by growing the annual sales by 40% to $1.6 million during her six years there! In 2011, Katie jumped at the chance to join the ZingTrain team. As a ZingTrain Trainer and presenter, she shares her operational experience as a basis for her teaching on Customer Service, Open Book Management and Servant Leadership. In addition to her work with outside clients, Katie teaches several Zingerman’s staff classes including the Art of Giving Great Service, the Art of Giving Great Service Over the Phone and The Art of Successful Performance Reviews.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES RICHARD GHISELLI, PURDUE SCHOOL OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT Richard Ghiselli, PhD, is a professor and head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University. Previously he was the Director of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Ghiselli has 20 years of teaching and research in the hospitality industry. In addition to his experience in education, he has ten years of industry experience as a club manager, food service director and general manager. Has also spent time as a chef, and has a degree from the Culinary Institute of America. His research focuses on behaviors in the workplace – like turnover - and the use of information to improve hospitality operations.

LISA GRECO, BETHEL COLLEGE Lisa Greco has served as the conference director for Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, for the past nine years. During this time, despite a badly damaged national economy and poor interdepartmental relationships on campus, she and her team raised the basically non-functioning department with a negative balance sheet to a one-stop shop and major revenue stream for the college which is touted by delighted customers as the region’s “hidden gem” venue. Prior to Bethel College, her career included roles as a conference and meeting planner giving her a well-rounded understanding of the conference industry. “I love the relational side of this industry the most. At Bethel is it our mission to create environments of productivity and renewal so that our guests can do the work they came to do. You cannot deliver that level of service unless you are in true relationship with your clients. We live to hear that first, “WOW!” when they enter the room. It’s why we do what we do 24/7/365.” Greco is also an adjunct professor in the field of organizational dynamics and leadership, holds two Masters Degrees and is to be conferred with a Doctorate in Leadership in May of 2014.

SHELLEY HENDRICKS, MOORE RESTORATION, INC. Shelley Hendricks was born and raised a Hoosier. She graduated from IUPUI with a degree in Business Communications and a concentrate in Marketing. A few of the positions she has held during her career have been Property Manager, Director of Marketing & PR, Director of Sales & Marketing and currently she works as Director of Business Development in the Commercial Real Estate sector at Moore Restoration, Inc. Her passion for networking and referral business has proven to be successful throughout the years. Building relationships with clients is an art that Shelley has mastered. She also believes in the power of association business growth. Her experience in several associations has proven to be successful for more than 20 years in her career. Shelley has been awarded Volunteer of the Year from the Indy Chamber for the last 5 years; she’s graduated from Leadership United from the United Way of Central Indiana. This year she received the ‘Friend of the Year’ award from IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) and ‘Partner of the Year’ award from InRLA.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES SHEILA MAHONY, MIDWEST LIVING AND MEREDITH TRAVEL MARKETING Sheila Mahony is the Director of Brand Development for Midwest Living and Meredith Travel Marketing. Sheila joined Meredith Corporation in 2009 and is responsible for all integrated marketing programs, brand extensions, proprietary research and market strategy for these business units. For the past 25 years, Sheila has held media and marketing positions at top advertising agencies and publishing companies in New York. She began her career as a media planner for Toyota Motors Sales at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising and Johnnie Walker at Smith/Greenland Advertising. From 1993-1999, she was Vice President Print Media at Grey Advertising and oversaw the print media planning and buying for accounts across a wide array of categories (travel, automotive, pharmaCEtical, fashion and consumer electronics). In 1999, Sheila moved to the Publishing side of the business and joined Time Inc. as the Marketing Director for the launch of Real Simple. In 2006, she was hand picked to launch another Time Inc. property, Cottage Living. During her ten years with Time Inc., Sheila increased ad revenue with innovative integrated marketing programs and exclusive retail partnerships, as well as conducted extensive consumer behavioral research. In early 2009, she joined Hearst Publishing and launched their first joint partnership with Scripps Network - Food Network Magazine. Here she continued to hone her skills for media mix marketing and brand development before coming to Meredith.

ANN MASON After spending two years at Notre Dame working in their athletics department, I accepted a job at Saint Mary’s College in March 2013. Working in the Office of Special Events, I am in charge of all Student Involvement events as well as all external events. Working with the two areas, I am given a wide range of events to coordinate on campus; anywhere from student concerts and parent weekends to summer conferences and weddings. I assist with every event from start to finish (contracting, coordination of space and equipment, day of assistance, load out).

ALLISON MELANGTON, Allison Melangton returned to Indiana Sports Corporation as president on September 1, 2012 after serving as CEO and president of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee since 2008. Widely regarded as the most engaging and successfully organized Super Bowl in history, Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis featured the Super Bowl Village, which drew more than 1.1 million people to downtown Indianapolis; $154 million of investment in the city’s Near Eastside through the Legacy Project; more than 8,000 volunteers serving in a variety of roles; and community, youth and green initiatives that impacted hundreds of thousands of individuals. Melangton served on the Indiana Sports Corporation staff from 1994 through 2008, most recently as Indiana Sports Corp’s Senior Vice President of Events. She oversaw Indiana Sports Corp’s bid selection process and directed Indiana Sports Corp’s bid presentations for those events. She has directed numerous national and international events, including Olympic Trials, World Championships, NCAA Women’s Final Fours, and Big Ten Basketball Tournaments. In this role, Melangton led the bid effort that won Indianapolis the right to host Super Bowl XLVI.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES MAUREEN MULDOON, INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTH BEND Maureen Muldoon has meeting planning in her blood. She has planned meetings and events for a variety of businesses and non-profits for over 30 years. Today you can find her on the campus of Indiana University South Bend as the Special Events Coordinator. She is a “one-stop shop” handling everything from scheduling the meeting rooms and their set-ups, to writing the facilities license agreements and collecting certificates of insurance, to taking catering orders. Maureen navigates the organizers of both campus and community groups through all of the procedures of meeting on a public university campus. Her Special Events Manual continues to be a work in progress. She updates it annually to adjust to the changing campus. Maureen owned MJM Meetings and Special Events for ten years before accepting the position at IU. Her clients included attorneys, accountants and bankers plus various not-for-profit agencies. She planned events in parks, theatres and ball parks as well as traditional venues like hotels and restaurants. Prior to that she was the Meetings Manager for the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and traveled around the country setting up national meetings at hotels and on college campuses. She continues to enjoy being the first to arrive and the last to leave an event.

MARK NEWMAN, INDIANA OFFICE OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT Newman, of Indianapolis, has served as executive director of IOTD since August 2012. Prior to leading IOTD, Newman was vice president of marketing and communications for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and served as chief operating officer of the Indiana Sports Corp where he led successful bid efforts for several national championship sporting events. He also worked for the Atlanta Olympic Games and World Cup USA. Newman earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and his master’s degree from the University of Virginia.

CHRISTINE ROBINETT, BELTERRA CASINO RESORT Christine Robinett has been in the hospitality industry for seven years. Christine continues to evolve in this industry and is currently a Regional Sales Manager for Belterra Casino Resort in SE Indiana. While working as a successful Sales Manager, Christine has also become a dedicated member of IMPI. This devotion and passion to become a respected leader in the world of hospitality has led her to participate on the Board of Directors for three years and as well as her current position with IMPI as VP of Membership. Christine also has a passion for technology and loves to problem solve and troubleshoot computer issues for friends, family and co-workers. Outside of work, Christine also enjoys cooking for friends and family and is constantly trying a new recipe! Christine has been married to her husband, Ty for 25 years. Work is one of the many things they have in common, as he is the Golf Pro at Belterra! Christine & Ty enjoy spending time with their two children, Casey (age 21) and Tyler (age 20) but would negotiate adoption of either one of them at any time! When asked what Christine’s goal in life is, it is simply to make a difference wherever she is on her journey and to help others along the way!

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES DAVE SERINO, TWOSIX DIGITAL Dave Serino, TwoSix Digital, possesses more than 23-years of experience in the travel, tourism, hospitality and meetings industry. He has held positions at hotels, resorts, destination marketing organizations and a privately held technology marketing organization. He developed his first website in 1995 and began conducting web promotional programs in 1996. In the July of 2009, he developed one of the first tourism focused social media ranking systems titled- “How Social is Your DMO?”. The study is a comprehensive assessment of the 50 state tourism offices and benchmarks each organization’s efforts on several social media platforms. He is also the founder of the Symposium on the Use of Social Media in the Tourism Industry. This unique event, that allows attendees to participate throughout the planning and development process, debuted in 2010. It is quickly becoming the premier social media education and networking event for the tourism industry. To-date, Serino has presented educational sessions at more than 100 travel industry conferences. He is a featured presenter in the Certified Destination Management Executive Program (CDME), which is conducted by the Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI)

JAIME SMITH, BARTHA Bartha announced the addition of Jaime Smith to their development team in July 2012, serving as the director of National Business Development and focusing on developing new business throughout the United States. Jaime came to Bartha with over 10 years of experience in special event production. Her start in the industry began at the Indiana Youth Institute as a tech wizard. Advancing her skills in Information Technology, business logistics, and meeting planning, in the 11 years with the Indiana Youth Institute, Jaime grew with the organization as Business Manager to Project Manager of Business and Information Technology and finally to Director of Operations. Receiving her CMP in August of 2010, Jaime won the 2009-2010 Planner of the Year Award and the 2011-2012 Planner of the Year Award at the IMPI Annual Awards Banquet. She was awarded IMPI’s 2010 July Shining Star and the 2010 ISAE’s Event of the Year Award for the IMPI’s Awards Banquet for Alice in Wonderland. Having switched to the “dark side” of the events industry, she won the 2012-2013 Supplier of the Year Award at the IMPI Annual Awards Banquet. Having been an MPI member for over 8 years, Jaime has been an active committee member and chair for IMPI, now joining the board as the Director of Strategic Partnership. She was recently named a Collaborate magazine 2013 “40 Under 40” honoree.

JACK SWARBRICK, UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME John B. “Jack” Swarbrick Jr., a University of Notre Dame graduate now in his sixth year in 2013-14 as vice president and director of athletics at his alma mater. In 2000 Swarbrick received one of the NCAA’s highest honors, The Flying Wedge Award, for his work in establishing Indianapolis as the new home of the NCAA. In 2001 he was honored by the State of Indiana with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award. In 2002 he received the Pathfinder Award from Youthlinks Indiana for his service to youth in the state of Indiana. Born March 19, 1954, Swarbrick was named Notre Dame’s 12th athletics director on July 16, 2008. He and his wife, Kimberly, are the parents of four children: Kate, a 2010 graduate of St. Louis University; Connor, a 2011 graduate of Wake Forest University; Cal, a senior at TCU; and Christopher, a University of Notre Dame junior.

Since he joined the Madden team in 2000, Howard has utilized his wide range of interests to excel in many roles. He led the Madden team that developed VacationFun.com and was the primary architect of Madden’s highlyinnovative cooperative SEM campaigns that are now a featured co-op program in 10 states. Additionally, he led the team that launched the travel inserts in O, The Oprah Magazine. JEANNIE WOLF, EVENTMOBI Jeannie has over 15 years of experience in the event planning field. She has planned events for The Culinary Institute of America, NYU Downtown Hospital and the American Heart Association before starting her own event planning company, Event Elements, in 2004. Being active in event technology and social media, Jeannie joined EventMobi in June 2012 as US Regional Account Manager. Jeannie is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and is currently President for the Virginia Chapter. In 2007 she received the designation of Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) by the Convention Industry Council (CIC). Jeannie has also been an adjunct instructor of Meetings and Convention Management at Niagara County Community College and is currently working with meetings, events, and hospitality faculty across the country to integrate mobile event apps into their curriculum.
