On the Eastern Shore, Denton’s A&E District showcases the 18th-century town, which is nestled on the banks of the Choptank River. The Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore has quickly become a destination for area quilt and fiber art enthusiasts to view historic and recent works by artists from Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the Delmarva Peninsula. Visit the talented young artist Jeffrey Auxer in his glassblowing studio, which showcases his own work and also hosts classes for budding artists. Just a few miles from Ocean City, Berlin’s growing culinary scene, brewpub, and small-town shopping make this a great stop. (berlinmainstreet.com) Other Arts & Entertainment Districts on the Eastern Shore can be found in Stevensville, Cambridge, Salisbury, and Snow Hill. In Western Maryland, there are districts in Hagerstown, Cumberland, and Frostburg. Baltimore’s iconic Bromo Seltzer Tower anchors a district that includes the Everyman and Hippodrome theaters in addition to the Bromo Seltzer Clock Tower. The tower is home to art studios that you can tour on Fridays and Saturdays. There are two other districts in Baltimore, including the Station North District that is home to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and theaters and which hosts Artscape each summer. The third Baltimore Arts & Entertainment District is on the east side of the city and includes Highlandtown, Patterson Park, and portions of Canton and Greektown.
