Anita Tull Whirley
LaQuita Jean Ingle
Anita Tull Whirley was born October 23, 1934 in McNairy County, Tenn., the daughter of the late John Raymond and Norma Lee Robinson Tull. Ms. Whirley was a member of the Fourth Street Church Of Christ in Selmer, Tennessee. She loved the Lord, her family and friends. She was the matriarch of her family, a lady who not only believed in taking care of her family but others as well. She prepared with love every Sunday a dinner for her family. She loved gardening, canning for her family and others. For many years she ran the cafe inside G&G’s grocery, worked at Walmart for over 12 years and was a homemaker. Ms. Whirley departed this life on July 31, 2014 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 79 years, 9 months, 8 days. She is survived by a daughter, Pam Whirley of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; three sons, Jay Whirley of Selmer, Tenn., John Whirley and wife Tammy of Bethel Springs, Tenn., Steve Whirley of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; a sister, Dorothy Wheatley of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, J R Tull of Bethel Springs, Tenn., Anthony Tull of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Eric Whirley of Bethel Springs, Tenn., Jacey Whirley of Selmer, Tenn., Jillian Whirley of Selmer, Tenn.; special family friend, Amanda Whirley of Selmer, Tenn.; and a host of extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Whirley was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Whirley; husband, James A. Whirley; two brothers, Jerry Vance Tull, James Donald Tull. Services were held on August 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with Aaron Moss, Jeremy Weekley officiating. Burial followed in the Moore’s Schoolhouse Cemetery at Selmer, Tennessee.
LaQuita Jean Ingle was born June 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Paul and Pearl Moore Russell. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Ingle. Mr. Ingle preceded her in death on March 18, 1980. Mrs. Ingle retired from Region’s Bank and had also worked at Walmart. She enjoyed photography, going to music festivals, and loved to sing. She loved her grandchildren and visiting with them. Mrs. Ingle departed this life on August 1, 2014 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 79 years, 1 month, 30 days. She is survived by two sons, Lance Ingle and wife Angela of Corinth, MS, Anthony Shelly of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, John Shelly, Michael Shelly, Hope Culver, Avery Ingle, Alison Ingle; and a host of extended family, friends, and her music festival friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ingle was preceded in death by a son, Chris Shelly; a brother, Lynn Russell. Services were held on August 3, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, Malcom George officiated. Burial followed in the Ramer Cemetery at Ramer, Tennessee.
Lois Belk Lois Belk, 83, of Michie, Tenn. passed away on August 2, 2014 at her residence. She was born June 3, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Ezra Walker and Henry Lillian Wadkins Jones. She was married to Van T. Belk of 64 years, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker/factory worker. She leaves three sons: Daniel T. “Danny” Belk of Michie, Tenn., James Belk of Michie, Tenn. and Bobby Belk of Michie, Tenn.; four daughters: Evelyn Butler (Harry) of Michie, Tenn., Wilma Butler (Junior) of Michie, Tenn., Joyce Crum (Charles) of Michie, Tenn. and Brenda Bingham (Jeff ) of Michie, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 2 greatgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Ansel Jones of Iuka, Miss.; a sister, Martha Mansel (James) of Corinth, Miss. and other relatives and a host of friends. Preceded her in death were husband, an infant son, Ralph Wayne Belk, parents, brothers: Sherman Jones, Ernest Jones, Clayton Jones and James W. “Dave” Jones; sisters, Olene Bullard, Gladys Jones and Dorothy Taylor. Services were held at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Malcolm Garrett officiating. Interment: Acton Community Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Terry Butler, Shane Butler, Shannon Belk, Timothy Belk, Charlie Crum and Johnny Crum. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Butler II and Jesse Butler.
Ernestine Graves Ernestine Graves, age 67, of Corinth, Miss. passed away July 28, 2014 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Mrs. Graves was born May 27, 1947 to the late Nellie Jane Stutts and Eula Dee Stutts. She was a homemaker and a member of West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle. She is survived by husband of 24 years, B.J. Graves of Corinth; a son, Shane Hodum of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter Tonya Freeman Maxedon and husband David of Corinth; step-daughters, Kay Graves of Corinth, Shirley Scott and husband Tim of Humboldt, Tenn., Mary Lewis and husband Joe of Humboldt, Tenn., Tammy Penzol and husband Jon of Milan, Tenn.; brothers, Billy Stutts, Michie, Tenn. and Ray V. Stutts and wife Sinda of Michie, Tenn.; sisters, Audine Stutts Rickman and husband Alvin Jr. of Michie, Tenn., Louise Stutts Jackson and husband Bill of Iuka, Miss., Eva Stutts George and husband Edward of Adamsville, Tenn. and Mildred Stutts Yates of Cape Girardeau, MO.; 11 grandchildren: Tyler Freeman and wife Kelsey of Guntown, MS, Chris Halbrook and wife Melanie of Trenton, Tenn., David Kernodle of Gadsden, Tenn., Brent Scott and wife Jessi of Humboldt, Caleb Scott of Humboldt, Tenn., B.J. Lewis of Trenton, Jake Lewis of Trenton, April Askew and husband Michael of Bradford, Tenn., Tori Cates and husband Jordan of Milan, Tenn., Rainey Penzol of Milan, Tenn. and Noah Penzol of Michie, Tenn.; 9 great grandchildren: Lexi Halbrook, Brandon Halbrook, Chandra Scott, Brenton Burton, Eli Lewis, Harley Lewis, Ethan Askew, Eli Askew and Cayden Cates. She was preceded in death by parents, a brother Laiford Joe Stutts and sisters, Laura Mae Stutts Hill, Wilma Ruth Stutts Lewis. Services were held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11 a.m.. at West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle with interment at Dogwood Cemetery. Rev. Tim Dixon and Rev. Merl Dixon officiated. Visitation was Wednesday, July 30 from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, July 31 from 10 until service time. Pallbearers were Tyler Freeman, Chris Halbrook, David Kernodle, Brent Scott, Caleb Scott and Noah Penzol. Honorary pallbearers were B.J. Lewis and Jake Lewis.
Peggy May Freeman Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy May Freeman, age 87, of Humboldt, Tenn. were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Freeman, an employee of Brown Shoe Co., who also looked after Humboldt Lake, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Herbert Freeman Sr. and son, Joe Freeman Jr. Mrs. Freeman is survived by two brothers, Earnest Replogle of Bethel Springs and Joe Frank Replogle of Selmer.
Monica Marie Connell Plunk Monica Marie Connell Plunk was born March 29, 1958 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Sally Simpson and the late Debs Baldovin. She was united in marriage to James Robert Plunk on May 10, 1974. Mrs. Plunk departed this life on August 1, 2014 in Finger, Tennessee at the age of 56 years, 4 months, 3 days. Mrs. Plunk was a truck driver and had drove over the road with her husband James while working for Longistics Transportation, she also had worked for Michaels Sportswear and the Dollar General Store. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, doing arts and crafts, sewing, but mostly spending time with family and friends She is survived by her husband James Robert Plunk of Finger, Tenn.; a daughter, Jamie Sparks and husband Sammy of Savannah, Tenn.; three sons, Joshua Plunk of Morton, IL, Andy Plunk and girlfriend Alyshia Wilbanks of Finger, Tenn., Tony Plunk and wife Trellany of Finger, Tenn.; three sisters, Tereasa Ritter of Morton, IL, Cara Oertle of Pekin, IL, Debbie Weeks of Mackinaw, IL; three brothers, Brad Baldovin, Barry Baldovin, and Brian Baldovin all of Morton, IL; five grandchildren, Kayla Plunk, and Courtney Plunk both of Morton, IL, Jazmyn Sparks, Deondray Sparks, and Skyler Stackens all of Savannah, Tenn. Services were held on August 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, burial followed in the Liberty Cemetery at Bethel Springs, Tennessee.
